Earlier this year, Obsidian and Square Enix released Dungeon Siege III. The game had a big reveal trailer involving a raven flying towards the camera then exploding into a bunch of other ravens.
Fast forward to November, and the debut trailer for the new Snow White movie is shown. And...it features the exact same shot! Not something that looked sorta like it. It's almost identical.
The guys who made the original Dungeon Siege clip, Create Advertising, are surprisingly cool with this, telling Kotaku, "Imitation is the highest form of a compliment." Moreover, they think it's "a good example of when theatrical is using gaming as a direct influence."
You can see a comparison video below. What do you think?
There once was a time Obsidian was making an RPG based on the Aliens universe. That game has since been cancelled, but today we're looking at some art done for the project by Charles Lee.
We'll also be looking at some of his other stuff, as he's also recently been involved in the production of Dungeon Siege III.
We've seen some Aliens stuff before, yes, but this is a lot more.
In addition to the two titles above, Lee has also been credited on games like God of War, Dungeon Siege III, Lair and SOCOM 4 and Twisted Metal Black. Lee is also working on the Gatchaman film due in 2012.
CL Design Studio [CLDS]
Yesterday I spoke to two people about Dungeon Siege III. One claimed that playing the demo was such an agonising experience that she cancelled her preorder, the other boldly stated that it was the finest ARPG of its time. I was tempted to make them fight it out by furiously clicking on one another but it didn’t seem right. Not in the real world. Today, there is news of a big chunk of DLC due in October. You’ll have to shell out for this, around $9.99, but it does sound there’ll be a healthy amount of content. That’s if you consider searching for treasure and ruins in a desert full of monsters healthy. New monsters and items are par for the course, but there’s more! An enchanting system will allow you to make your shiniest loot even more shiny and you’ll also be able to respec your character. Cue cries of: “It should have been in the base game!” No word if there’ll be a further patch for us PC folk alongside the DLC. Personally, I stopped playing the game before the keybinding patch so don’t know how much that did to improve things. Any thoughts?
