Spiral Knights, one of the few childhood games that I played and enjoyed is now no longer in the clutches of SEGA (ya know, that greedy company that had like half of the games staff quit because of them and the same exact company that went down hill) Spiral knights has been passed down to another company called Grey Heaven with OOO still at the side to keep help and one of the newest updates was an ACTUAL good update since for who knows how long

This game is awesome.I am playing so many years.I like the fact that its co op game! Its a great game to play with friends! But dont afraid u can go solo too if u want. Many try their abilities in both pve and pvp.If u like fantasty comic graphics, then for sure it suits ur tastes. It seems its a game for kids but it isnt.It has so much depth behind it.The pvp too is great. Some guys may have better gear in the beggining but still isnt enough to be better from u if u have skills and playing .Its really free to play cause everything u want u can get it with hard work.I myself never payed money and i have gear that many would want.

The minecraft for all ages. child friendly, but can still be played by anyone. Good story, great graphics, and only tiny dips in FPS, i dont think ive seen it go below 30 (estimate, dont quote me on that, i have almost no idea what im talking about in regards to FPS), and just overall great across the board. A good casual game, missions take maybe 20 minutes, or you can delve into the depths of the Clockwork for as long as you want.

Alot of my friends seem to be getting back into this curiously, so I'm going to make a review of what I think.

Spiral Knights is an MMORPG.. Thing. If you're like me, that means people with too much money watching anime and buying "Sooper instant upgrayd DLC STARTER PACK!!!11!!"

And you're right. SK has that, too. But to a much lesser extent.

You'll see these dudes running around in full dragon armor with flying dragon pets and think, "Holy ballsacks, this dude just blew $250 on this game, yeah?" But no, you can get those easily and pretty early in the game. This game rewards skilled players in a way I personally love. It's so satisfying to see a person who paid to get all his ♥♥♥♥ and being bored out of his mind and then seeing yourself PLAYING the game and HAVING FUN.

This game is %500 better with friends. You get 3 friends and start rushing these rooms, you're gonna have a blast.

You can either use guns or swords in this game, or use both, whatever floats your boat. It makes for fun varying play styles.

All in all, this game is a blast with friends, it's good to play it in waves because it can get kinda stale running room after room, but it's always fun to come back to.

Plus I mean, cmon, it's a free game where you can fight skeletons and ghosts with guns as a knight.

Forging and upgrading your weapons, armour, and battle sprite is fun, but the main gameplay is just not fun in my opinion. I don't really see the appeal of sitting there not doing anything but clicking constantly. And before anyone tries to say "then why did you play 35 hours of it" I played 35 hours to form this opinion of the game. You may think it is a good game, but in my opinion it is just not very fun. Play if this is the sort of stuff you like though.

I have to say they ruined the game with the hall of heroes missions and they made the "Dreams and Nightmares" mission so hard u usually have to pay for like 60 sparks to even beat it. I'm not sure wheather or not to reccomend it. If they remove the hall of heroes and add a different anti rushing system but they keep the "No ENG required to go down floors" thing i'd make a new review reccomending this game...

Okay, here goes.

This game used to be fun. It still is.

I would recommend it to a friend.

But with one word of advice.

Use only crowns for trading with other players, and don't stockpile energy. These days, everyone is crying out at OOO to "make the game better", to "stop the pay to win" or "I WANT MY X BACK BECAUSE MY Y IS NOT GOOD ZOMG."

They complain it is pay to win. It's not, not at all.

We just make it that way.

Whenever someone asks for gear, if they offer energy, no matter how tantalizing it may seem, don't do it.
If you want your crowns to mean something, then use those instead of trading for energy. Trade a sword for crowns, or use the crowns to buy things. Not energy.

That is all.

Don't use energy, and the game will slowly return to not being as pay to win, due to people not using energy for much anymore. Spread the word, and things will get better.

I had lots of fun times playing this game i do admit, played this game with some really close mates also, but honestly the game is just too repetitive and becomes boring after a while. I had to quit this game and come back to it many times since it was getting kinda boring once you reach the final rank and had the most of the Op gear in the game. Right now the game is basically dead, there are like not many people online. The games grinding system isn't too bad if you are a high rank but if you are stuck with 3* gear farming those *elite orbs* can be absolute cancer.

After all the game has been a great game to me but i certainly dont recommend it if you are thinking to start the game from scratch. Since the game is dead, it will be a waste of your time and pointless because of the amount of online players still playing it, and the amount of hard grinding you'd have to do to get the all best 5 *star gear* that you would want.
I'd give the game a solid 6/10

R.I.P SK 2K16 :(

This game was in it's prime 3-4 years ago. Must've had over 100 hours before transferring my account over to steam. Then the lead developer (and I think a few others) quit and the game died out. With very few updates (all money related) and only a struggling community left, don't waste your time with this game.

If you don't have many games to try or you want something new, how about Spiral Knights?
It's a top-down action-adventure dungeon crawler, in which you fight monsters with swords (obvciously), bombs and guns.
You level up your character as you play and obtain better equipment for your character.
There are four boss raids and many hidden and rare content. Most of them are event-only items.
If you like collecting rare stuff, this game has it all.

The intro for the game is great and levels are really detailed. After that the game loses dynamizm and level are procedurally generated, so there are instances that you'll end up in the same corridor. That's the main thing about the levels. Most of them are made from patterns, so there are a lot of combinations, but in-game you feel that's the same level. The music is really memorable and atmospheric. I can't forget the Jigsaw Valley and the menu music.

Because it's a F2P game, there are instances where packing money is useful, but the only gameplay changing
elements are weapon slots. You can also buy weapons and armor, but that's only for quicker progress. And here is my issue with the game:

Around Tier 3, you HAVE TO upgrade your equipment in order to continue the game. And the orbs required to craft them are really rare and can go for thousands of crowns. If you are lucky, you'll get there eventually. I had no luck and after two months of grinding, I finally got my FIRST 5-star weapon. Now I have to get my armor and a shield. That's another 8 months to spend, but I didn't had the patience to do this all. Soon, the game got boring.

I played this game for around 2 years and I think it wasn't wasted in any bit.
My most proud one is when I attempted the most difficult boss raid designed for 5-star sets. I only got 4 star equipment and I carried my whole 4 member team on my back. They called me the Gordon Freeman of Spiral Knights. That was epic. I died at the final boss, but it was worth it. Tier 3 is pretty challenging. The game gets relatively harder as you play and you can choose harder difficulty for more loot, which is fair.

Get the game, play it for some time. If you like rogue-like games, you'll probably like it.

Puzzles and teamwork make up the crux of this game. You'll swap between a handful of weapon types in order to deal with different situations as you descend into higher and higher difficulty dungeons, getting gear and empowering it. As far as MMOs go, it's a refreshing and orignal take. Good fun to be had here - though I currently worry for its longevity.

I'm so sick of all the kids who download this game to get the free tf2 hat and say the achievement doesn't work and just leaves a bad review. If you have nothing good to say, then get out of this community, because that is the cancer of Spiral Knights.

This game is just a simple dungeon crawler game with a lot of good mechanics. It might be irritating to play, but when you reach a high rank and you find the item that you need. You feel happy inside.

I suggest actually giving this game a try. I have been playing this game from 2013-2016 (I quit for two years), and I always loved the game, I didn't quit because I was bored, I quit because I didn't have any time.

I highly suggest this game to someone who has a lot of time.

I've palyed this game a good 284 hours on the game on and off, mostly because of how bored I felt after a good long while of grinding, even back in the day. But now the game has turned more into a money grab and cosmetics show. And it all seemed to have gone downhill since some of the devs left and it switched the energy use. The most I can say is that it's fun to play once and a while with some friends and do some missions, but even then we got bored, or hit a wall because we needed to grind, or pay to get to the next tier of equipment, which sadly, they've even started selling in the online store. You can try out this game if you want, but I just wouldn't recomend it, either it's going to eat pointless grinding hours out of your life, or it's going to eat a hole through your wallet.

So you see, I've been playing it for over 3100 hours!
Did I get anything from it?
Yeah...
The only one good online friend, who persuaded me to get into Warframe.

Advantages:
Simple, yet adorable graphics and design.
The story.
Umm, gameplay?

Cons:
Reeeeeetarded and salty community mostly.
No updates for years literally. (Cosmetic prize boxes don't count)
The community again.
THE GRIND IS REAL!
YOU'LL BE LITERALLY HEATING YOUR GEAR FOR OVER 1000 HOURS
SAME LEVELS OVER AND OVER
DAMN VANADUKE, THE ALMIGHTY CURSE OF GRIND
ALL EVENTS ARE GRIND TOO!
DO YOU THINK THIS GAME IS A JOKE!? IT IS AN EMPTY VOID.

My view overall: Play it while it's fun, until the grind gets too real for you.
1/10 - Will come back after it gets updated seriously.

I have mixed opinions on this game and that means I'm somewhat not reccomending this to you and sort of am.

The good :
-It's a fun time waster and it's good for playing with friends.
-combat is simple and fun.
-the community is alright but toxic at the same time.
The bad :
-No one seems to be playing on missions, or other game modes that's not pvp.
-Most of the stuff you have to grind for hours to get or you have to spend money on it.
-The Devs are nothing but cash grabbing fiends.

And that's all I have to say about this once beautifully made game, yet killed by it's own devs.
Rest in piece my good game.

Having played this game for around 8,000 Hours (3,800 on this account, and 4,200 on another account) from Late 2011- Mid 2014, I must say it's been a great 3.5 years in the game. So great for me that I wouldn't say it's exaggerating that it has changed my life in many ways. (< Extremely irrevelant to the review though)

About the game:
Spiral Knights is a fun MMORPG game to be playing with a group of friends, completing the missions from the Storyline, collecting all sorts of unique Gear, Costumes and Accessories to customize your character's looks, or even merchanting in the game. (Merchanting is completely optional, but it was something that I've done for over 2 years in the game at least, and it was a good experience, getting to know more players, etc.)

Pros:
-A Wide Selection of Accessories to choose from, making your own unique costume
-Grinding (If you're into that sort of thing)
-Chatting inside and outside of the game
-Merchanting (If you want to include this from your perspective)
-Challenges for beginners
-It's Free!

Cons:
-Drops for specific items in-game is pretty rare, and players would sometimes just buy it directly from the Store, the Auction House or Players because they're not getting the drop.
-Once you've cleared everything, incluiding the DLC, you have pretty much nothing left to do, asides from collecting new gear and so on.

Spiral Knights from my Point of View:
Back when Nick was still in OOO, Spiral Knights was updated with a lot of new events, challenges, costumes, etc.
For PvE, My friends and I had a lot of fun clearing these challenges and grinding for the gears we so desperately want. Spiral Knights got a whole lot better when the Storyline was introduced, and the plot was interesting enough for us to keep playing, and we wouldn't get bored even though we're killing the same boss over and over again. (Well, that's what grinding in a MMO is about anyway...)
As for PvP, being in a different region from the Game Server will affect your gameplay for this game mode. But there are people who're in the same state as me, but can dominate others. (Kudos to them, and no offence intended to anyone in this comment)

However, once Nick left, the amount of content for this game started to drop drastically, and I've only seen 1 or 2 major updates ever since he left. There are still updates to the game, but with just Accessories and Costumes, not much of content. This was the point where my friends and I had pretty much nothing left to do, after having almost everything we wanted. We came up with new ideas to entertain ourselves, such as time attacks for a certain lair, costume contests, etc. (I personally got so bored that I decided to design and make a whole ton of unique Costumes for my Character)

But after a while, all these ideas started to die down slowly, and I see a lot of Veterans and my friends leaving the game, and I've followed suit, and cashed out from the game, with almost no intention of coming back to play again unless I see an update which can convince me to play again. (I still love the game though..) I do visit the game occasionally, just to see how the game is doing, and everyone who're still playing the game.

The SK Community is one of the best Communities I've ever seen, and it probably would be. Players helping one another with problems, debates with just about anything related to the game, etc. As mentioned before, I'd hate to leave the game, but with almost no content, I see no reason of staying on.

For any beginner(s) reading this Review, I welcome you to have a go at this game, but don't be expecting too much unless you're into a lot of grinding for your desired items. :)

TL:DR
-A lot of grinding required, and pray RNG is with you when it comes to obtaining something you want from Boxes, etc.
-Intersting Storyline
-Fun with friends
-End Game is boring

Have fun, and may the Energy be with you!

-Revolutional

This game use to be good..until they did the rework on energy/heat level up a long time ago. The ability to not revive the other player by using your hp was the cherry on top that destroy the game for me. I did not write a review. I am writting one now because I miss the game, but I want the developper to do some change (unless they already did some, in this case, feel free to leave a comment in this review)

until those change are not reverted, I will leave a negative reviews

So, I recenly discovered that this game is on the verge of dying. Popular speculations believe it Nick Popovich, getting fired, but I believe this game is dying because of an innate amount of terrorist propaganda and 9/11 symbolism.

I first comtemplated this theory when joining my friends in the Roarmulus Twins boss raid. At first I was greeted with a spacious warehouse filled tothe brim with missiles. At first I thought we had been trapped in an ISIS warehouse, but our operatives briefed us that instead he had been deployed to infiltrate one of America's top secret missile bases.

Our team elimated eliminated those wretched American pigs without fail and we proceeded to the R&D centre of the base. We discovered American had been secretly develope Gremlin super soldiers or known code A.S.S (Anti-Syrian-Services)

Out team struggled and we lost 2 great men, we said our praises to our fallen comrades, hoping Allah would have mercy on their souls. With our burning anger towards those disgusting American pigs burning greater than ever, we proceeded to the heart of the base.

To our bewilderment we discovered the most shocking and most unethical act we thought those damn American scum would pull of on us. They had weaponised the Twin Towers. We cautiously crept towards those two proud works of our enemies, and without notice lights on the tower's eyes started glowing red, like the eyes of an untrained beast, and it was our job to put it down.

[missing scene here]

After our courageous acts, genius tactics and the blessing of Allah, we felled the mechanical beasts. When the lights on their eyes flickered, then dimmed, then turned off, we knew we had won this day. Today was the day everyone would see us, as heroes, the day everyone would know that we were the ones who fought, tooth and nail for them so that they could see the beauty of the Cradle. Today, was the 11th of September, 2001.

Even before that I would have not reccommended this game.

Got a ton of CS:GO keys from this game tho, GG.

Here's my opinion about SK:

PROS:

- Great intro, one of the best I've seen so far.
- The art style in this game is really good and unique. It's like a combination between Legend of Zelda and Chibi.
- Great, atmospheric music.
- Solid gameplay.
- Friendly community.
- Shadow Lairs.
- Intriguing story. (Can't wait for the other rank missions!)
- Can be really fun when playing with friends.
- It is indeed a F2P. You can obtain most of the weapons and the equipment and even cosmetics by paying no money. But it'll get harder. Trust me, it will.

CONS:

- After you become a Vanguard, things can get pretty dull.
- Game encourages you to grind. And by that, I mean a LOT of grinding.
- Connection problems. (Note: if you're from Australia or somewhere in Asia, expect a lot of trouble playing this game.)
- Can sometimes get boring.
- Not much activity when it comes to content.
- Price boxes. A CRAP-TON of Costume price boxes.
- SEGA. Crap.

FINAL VERDICT:

I'll give this game a 8.5/10.
It's not a flawless gem, but it's a solid game that can bring you lots of joy.
And while I don't really play SK that much nowadays like I once did before (problably it has to do with the lack of content and school, of course), I can say that Spiral Knights has a special place in my heart.
Met lots of great people, had tons of fun, joined a great guild (League of Gunners) and so on.

So yeah, that's pretty much my opinion about it.
I know it's not really detailed, but whatever.

Thank you for reading!

Yours truly,
Mordekai the Summoner (Siliuser in SK)

P.S: To all of my friends I've met in SK and are reading this,
Thank you and love you all, fellas :3

UPDATE: 13th of April, 2016 (I know, a bit late announcing this news.)

Spiral Knights has now been bought by Gray Havens (a company formed by former employers of OOO). Spiral Knights has been finally released from the greedy clutches of SEGA.

Let's hope for the best for Gray Havens and may them bring this once fun game back to it's former glory.

We are counting on you, Gray Havens!
