Whn this game came out, I wanted it. It's a bit old now, but I still think it is one of the best open world racers out there. Large and varied world to drive, many cars to choose from, although sometimes a bit hard to earn enough money to get a large collection (after many failed hacks I finally found one that actually works... so I have finally after a few years been able to extend my car collection and houses to store them). Still one of my old time favourites.

What to know about this game:
- It's open world, and it's massive.
- Feels like an MMORPG with cars.
- Customizable characters, tune cars, create decals, discover locations, find hidden stuff, buy houses, etc.
- Very immersive for people who like to cruise around in different cars and enjoy the scenery on the islands.
- Freezes on Windows 10, how beautiful.

Okay, this game runs flawlessly on Windows 7, no issues. I upgraded to Windows 10 a few weeks ago and tried playing this again with Nvidia surround everything on high at 5760x1080, it ran and eventually froze up after like 5 minutes. So I alt-tabbed and that did nothing, I had to hit ctrl-alt-delete and select task manager and I tried closing the TDU2 app, did nothing, tried bringing up the task manager, nothing. I actually had to sign out back to the login screen of Windows to stop the game and then log back in. So I followed some threads on here and tried lowering my settings and even ran the game at 1280x720, plays the game for about an hour and then freezes. I even turned on Nvidia adaptive V-Sync as recommended by others, and still nothing :D

My level of pisstocity at this point is through the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ roof since this is literally one of my favorite racing games and now I can't even play the damn game because of this "supposedly superb" operating system. Windows 10 my ♥♥♥. This isn't the only game that acts up either, there are others. It's sad that I have to revert to the painful performance of the PS3 to play a game that I already paid for here on Steam. Yeah I know the game is ancient, but that doesn't justify the bs freezing going on. It would be nice if somebody made a fix for this game to run on Windows 10 without freezing / crashing, but I know it will never happen. With that being said, since I see it happening to a good number of people.... why even sell the game if it doesn't work?

Insta-thumbs down. Such a shame because it's such an awesome game, but now it won't run for sht.
Don't like the thumbs down?? Here's a band-aid.

(funny thing is, I shouldn't be hating the game, but the operating system it's running on)

*EDIT* 7/28/2016
Come to find out it is because of an update built into Windows 10 named KB3086255 which disables Securom and Safedisc or whatever it's called, which is something that a lot of older games and physical discs used. They disabled it because apparently it can be used as a backdoor for hackers, etc. So the only way to get this game to work is to find a way to disable that, which would possibly leave your PC vulnerable, or dual boot Windows 7 to play this game on (AND AVOID THE KB3086255 UPDATE, which is still a risk I guess). I tested the game on Windows 7 again for more than 2 hours and the game ran completely fine, no problems, Nvidia Surround 5760x1080, everything on High, no freezing, no crashing, nothing. For all the ones out there who are having these issues, I hope I saved you a ton of headaches. Still a thumbs down though lol

I have played over 500 hours on this game on the 360 and i dont regret any of those hours, as this is my favourite game ever made, but dont get me wrong, there are some downsides to it.

Lets jump straight into the pros and cons.

Pros:

1: Extensive and engaging storyline.
2: Very good soical racer in its time.
3: Lots of things to do after you have completed the storyline, with friends or without friends.
4: An insane amount of cars.
5: An installable "Unoffical Patch" that grants you even more cars.
6: MASSIVE open world all there for the taking
7: In its time it had a great community.

Cons:

1: Impossible for new players, as registering an account is very difficult, and if you are on windows 10, theres a 50/50 chance you will or will not be able to play.
2: Atari and Eden games were dead many years ago, so dont expect any new updates or customer support.
3: No email verification, so if you forget your password, your save data and your entire account are done for.
4: Some glitches and bugs that can be frustrating, but do not happen very often.
5: Pretty hefty price tag for a game that is this old and may or may not work.
6: Graphics are very outdated, but that is to be expected from a early 2011 game.
7: Servers that are practically dead, in my past few days of playing i have not found one online player, which is very frustrating in my opinion.

Sugguestions to beat the cons:

1: DO NOT BUY IF YOU ARE ON WINDOWS 10, and research on a way to make an account, im sure there is a way.
2: Install the unoffical patch, as this grants many new cars to play around with.
3: Write your password down.
4: If these glitches do happen, for example hitting a stop sign in some areas will flip your car, do not get frustrated! You can always dodge or overcome these glitches.
5: Buy this game when it is on sale. It goes down to around 4.99 USD occaisonally.
6: Not really a fix for this one, but maybe there is some kind of mod out there that can give you a better graphics experience.
7: Find some friends that are playing! Post in the community discussions and look for people that are already playing the game.

Overall, this is my favourite game ever made. If one day i become a billionare, i am going to buy out atari and eden games and make a tdu3. Thanks for reading and i hope this helped you make your decision on whether to buy the game or not.

The rumors of TDU2's demise are greatly exaggerated.

I played this game extensively on Xbox 360 and migrated over to PC when my old 360 called it quits. I was wary about buying TDU2 because of all the reviews stating that the servers are down, that you can't log into the game, et cetera. Those are all false. I've been playing this online with real people for several days now. The servers aren't dead and they're not ghost towns, there are many people roaming Ibiza and Hawaii and most are willing to race or exchange messages. The game does require you to create an account in order to play online, but that is easily accomplished by visiting the TDU2 website and signing up there. Installation went well, and the initial start up and every start up since has not posed any problems for me on Windows 8.1.

TDU2 is an older racing game, but is still a lot of fun, especially if you enjoy collecting cars and free roaming two huge islands. I would happily pay $19.99 for this game right now on PC, and I definitely recommend it at the sale price of $4.99.

Worth buying on sale. It's a perfect game to enjoy cruising around on the islands using a variety of cars.
People complain that it does not work anymore - I have Windows 10 and everything works fine, including online mode.

Best open world Driving game to date. i say this because i own a Logitec G27 and i had to tweak some settings but once your dialed in. you just drive, and drive, and it just doesn't get old. hit the pavment and fly by cops or take a nice dirt road and rally your car getting the windshield and the car muddy as hell. pretend to stop and get gas, see how far you can go into the woods before you hit a tree. ohh and turn off the phone calls those people are annoying. get the subaru it's the best! hehe.

I was so excited to see this back on the market; TDU 1 used to be one of my favorite games. However, this game is borderline unplayable on Windows 10. I've logged <90 minutes of gameplay so far, and have had 4 un-recoverable game crashes that required restarting the computer*. No rhyme or reason to them. One happened during a cutscene, one while entering a dealership and autosaving, two happened while driving. Verifying the game cache's integrity through Steam after one crash yielded 18 problematic files. I even tried running it in Windows 7 compatibility mode. No luck.

IF you can get it to work, from what I got to play, it seems like exactly what you'd want in a driving game and a sequel to the first TDU. Not a racing game, but a driving game. A huge open world, plenty of cars, and plenty of driving to do. Pretty poor sound quality, but it works well with the game for some reason. Physics are fairly bad and arcade-like. Graphical quality is about average for a 5 year old game, but definitely acceptable. It will support a resolution of at least 1920x1080. Frame rates (when the game wasn't crashing) were regularly over 100fps; very nice on a 144hz monitor, and the game will allow for a frame limit/refresh rate of at least 144 via the in-game menu. PS4 controller is not supported, but Xbox One/360 controllers are.

If you're interested, give it a shot for $5 while it's on sale. However... Caveat Emptor. It may or may not work for you. For me, I'll be requesting a refund.

Note as of this writing:
-YES there are servers online.
-YES there are other players still playing online.
-NO the TDU2 website does not work completely reliably, but you can still create an account at least.

Great game, sad TDU producers now make the crew.

This game is basically the life of a rich guy once you get enough progress, good cars good houses everything. Many people hate this game I really dont see why. Yes its 5 years old now but i still play it i still think this is my fav game.
