About This Content

Steam powered captains, we have the pack for you! This bundle contains all you need to start battling the Klingon Empire, including two Starfleet Steamrunner starships -- a Tier 1 ship for the start of your career, and a Tier 5 ship for when you reach Vice Admiral.

Note: This pack unlocks the following items for every Federation character on an account. If you delete a Steamrunner starship, you must reclaim it from the ship store. You must be at least level 2 to open this pack.

The pack includes the following items:

  • One XP Boost that will provide a single character with a 20 percent increase in the amount of Skill Points earned up to a maximum of 1,000 Skill Points.
  • Steam Powered Title
  • Mk II Phaser Assault Minigun [CrtH][Dmg]
  • Mk II Personal Shield [Cap]
  • Mk II Energy Dampening Armor [RegHP]
  • Mk II Quantum Torpedo Launcher [Acc][Dmg]
  • Mk II Resilient Shield Array [Cap]
  • Trill Male Engineering Bridge Officer Candidate (Uncommon Quality) equipped with a Mk II Phaser Blast Assault [Dmg], Mk II Personal Shield [Cap] and Mk II Energy Dampening Armor [Dis]
  • Vulcan Female Science Bridge Officer Candidate (Uncommon Quality) equipped with a Mk II Phaser Assault Split Beam [CrtH], Mk II Personal Shield [Cap] and Mk II Energy Dampening Armor [Dis]
  • Blockade Runner Escort: Steamrunner Class
  • Blockade Runner Escort Retrofit: Steamrunner Class
The Blockade Runner Escort: Steamrunner class has been around since the late 24th century, but due to its reliability and effectiveness is still in limited use today. The Steamrunner class saw significant action in the Battle of Sector 001 against the Borg, as well as in countless battles and sorties during the Dominion War. Simply put, the Steamrunner is fast, agile and tough.

The Blockade Runner Escort: Steamrunner class comes equipped with a Resonance Cascade Modulator console mod. This mod gives you the Team Fortress power which you can use to enhance your team's shields for a limited duration, eliminating bleedthrough from normal attacks and decreasing damage sustained by the team's shields. This Console Mod can be equipped in any console slot on any ship. You may only equip one of these mods on any single ship.

  • Hull Strength: 11,000
  • Shield Modifier: 1
  • Crew: 200
  • Weapons: 2 Fore, 1 Aft

The Steamrunner is nice when you first start playing STO, but with the update and having Tier 6 ships the pack is now out dated, if they were to add another blockade runner (Steamrunner) and make it a T6 then this pack would once again be useful later on in the game.

GREAT PURCHASE, People are not helpfull when it came to fulfilling the process details.
First goto https://my.perfectworld.com/redeemkey/sto and Insert Steam code (check and copy to clipboard this via cdkey)
secondly it'll appear in "DISCOUNTS" of the C-Shop.

This Steamrunner is worth the cost. As its Exclusive to Steam.

I bought the steam starter pack but don't know how to install it. Nor how to get my characters to access it. I feel a little ripped off to be honest.

The Steam page has updated the redemption link. Everything worked perfectly fine for me. Just make sure you get the code that pops up when you start the game, not the confirmation code they send you in the email.

This does work if you follow the link in Steam and put the code in there. While I'm not an amazing escort pilot, it is a fun ship to command despite only being a Tier 5 fleet level ship. The console is great on cruisers for tanking.

Bought this for STO on November 9th. Two days later, with a level 15 FED Tactical Captain, I still have not been able to get in game what I purchased which should have worked at level 2. The product key from the starter pack does not seem to work. I sent in a ticket but after 2 days, I have not heard anything back. I like STO alot but between Perfect World Entertainment, Cryptic Studios and Arc Games, all being merged I am not surprised their support system is in disarray. Steam lists these companies for support for this product and all of the above: 'Customer Support' and 'Product Support' leads you to Arc Games, STO site where I sent in a ticket 2 days ago. I'm really disappointed in Steam for not providing more support for some of the products they list on their site. Or at least some kind of warning or update to issues involved with the products they choose to include on their site for purchase.

The pack is very useful, though I did have trouble redeaming the pack at first. For those having trouble, copy and paste the redeming code to the clipboard, then start up the game. I used the Arc browser instead of Steam, Click on the store button on the upper right, section of the menu; the one with the ZEN coin. Search for the bundle pack and just click on it, the pack will be activated.

A very good DLC for Star Trek Online for rising Steam users! This Steam-Exclusive DLC gives two ships and some other perks. The Tier 1 ship is perfect for starting players, giving a Epic universal console, as well as a good starter ship. It also comes with some Mk II equipment making it powerful for T1 right out of the box. You also get a 20% XP booster, which doesn't work well for higher ranks but lower ranks is useful. Later in tier 5 (level 50) you can get the Retrofit version (T5 varient) with this pack! It can even be upgraded to T5-U to make it similar to T6 ships. I recommend this pack mainly for tactical or engineering federation steam players. The lack of science may not be as good for science federation.

You also get a title "Steam Powered" which is kind of cool. Overall I recommend the Star Trek Online Steam Edition, as it has some great perks and some unique ships not found in the normal game that make it worth owning. The average T5 ship is about $25 so your spending $25 to get the T5 ship plus starter bonuses for newbies. If your new looking to be set with a good T1 and T5 ship in your future, this pack is perfect for the Federation!

I have no idea why so many buyers of this claim the pack doesnt show up in the game, because it does and works fine IF YOU FOLLOW THE REDEEM INSTRUCTIONS which are in the description of the DLC.

Star Trek Online Support say to read the package information on how to install. Since the package information is wrong, I recommend people stay away from this pack.

I picked up the pack as it was one of the ships I wanted, but the only way to get it was from Steam (not available any other way). Its only appeared once that I can remember in the movies (Star Trek: First Fontact) and it, the Akira, Defiant and of Course, Enterprise-E were my favorites since. Its a good way for those without LTS to get a nice start and not have to pilot the horrible Miranda Class ship at the start..... I mean.. a Miranda.. really? Mind I do have LTS (Since Launch, Pre-FTP) and was a Beta Tester, Still, if you're looking for a fresh start on the game and want something a little different, this is worth it, though a little pricey.

Highly Recommended!

If you start working up a Federation character, this pack gives you a better T1 ship, mostly because it has an extra bridge officer slot than the Miranda. The T1 ship also comes equipped with the Resonance Cascade Modulator console. The Resonance Cascade Modulator (which allows the use of Team Fortress) is one very useful console. It reduces the damage to your entire team's shields by 20% and prevents normal damage from bleeding through these shields for 12 seconds after activation. It says 'normal' damage for a reason; exotic damage, such as those from most science abilities, can still pass through. This console is even more useful because it comes on the T1 ship and not the T5. This means that your Romulan characters that are Federation allied can use it as well. The bridge officers in this pack are ok, but I replaced them with better after progressing through the game. The equipment is only good for the beginning of the game, but I guess that is why its called a "Starter" pack. However, the T5 ship alone is well worth the price of this entire pack, especially if you get it on sale like I did. The T5 ship is great for a ship of that quality. It is as good as fleet ships, as it already starts with the extra console slot. With a 1 shield modifier, it has more shields than most other escorts. Combined with its base hull of 34,500 - also high for an escort - it can take more than a few punches, especially if you use the Team Fortress ability properly. It is still good after the release of T6 ships because its T5U upgrade adds another tactical console slot, allowing for a further boost to damage. To top off the cake that is this bundle, there is the exclusive "Steam Powered" title. I have had this pack since it released and have only seen a few other people with the title, or the ship for that matter. This pack is NOT available through the in game store, so it is overlooked by most people.

I updated this review because it was pointed out that I originally had the shield modifier wrong. I am sorry for any confusion that may have caused.

Good starting set for a federation character.

The steamrunner class is a very solid ship, and surprisingly durable and considering its pretty much only available on steam its a rare sight to see.

the team fortress console has kept me and my team alive a few times where we would otherwise fallen prey to incoming fire

probably the only way to get a T5 ship, at least for me, still experiencing problems buying Zen in the Zen store using my steam wallet funds, first game MMO I actually considered paying money for in game items, but there seems to be a problem with steam connections, hope they get it fixed. otherwise, I'm having so much fun playing the game. full recommend when they fix the purchase of Zen in the Zen store using steam funds.

This is a great pack... though, they should at least update it, raise the specs of the Teir 5 ship, or add a third version of it available at a higher Tier.

With that said, the Tier 5 ship is still a great ship, and with the right equipment loaded, it still kicks butt on most all solo missions and can hold its own in a decent group with other experienced players.

The Steam Stater Pack is a great little add on for anyone who wants to play using the Federation faction.

This starter pack will get anyone up and running pretty quickly. Wile the ships in the pack are really only designed for tactical officers your engineering and scince captains will benefit greatly from the other equipment included in the pack. In fact I still use the Resonance Cascade Modulator on my level capped characters for that extra bit of damage resistance when up against tough enemies. The only real downside is that there isn't an equivalent Klingon faction pack.

Buy it if you like Star Trek and want a good head start in the game

I haven't purchased this pack, but rather purchased the ships sepretly, and while the tier 5 ship is alot older than alot of the new ones for a lower price, It's still a good deal. (Ussually ships cost 25 dollars each, you're getting two for the price of one!) If you want a good ship when you get to tier five, I suggest a Caitian Atrox Carrier (http://sto.gamepedia.com/Caitian_Atrox_Carrier) Other then that a grat pack over all :D
