I HIGHLY recommend this game. It is the closest thing we will ever have to Ghostbusters 3, by a long way. The cast is entirely voiced by the original crew, the comedy is DEAD ON, the plot is right in line with ghostbusters, and it fits the universe in an utterly perfect display of storytelling, that I bought this game, for PC recently years after owning it for the 360.

There is really, nothing wrong with this title what so ever.

So much better than that ♥♥♥♥ ass movie staining theaters right now, and that tragically bad Sanctum of slime ripoff Activision just ♥♥♥♥ out.

Anyone who loves Ghostbusters should be playing this game, rather than seeing the current film, or playing the tragedy known as the current game. This is worth FAR more of your time, money, and does incredible justice to a franchise you love.

Writen by the one and only Dan Aykroyd and the late Harold Ramis, I finally understande why this is considered the third "movie" of the OG GBs.
And not a queefing joke or SNL skit in site this, game was a refreshing back to the basics of dark humor.
I had my jumps in the spooky dark and a bunch of laughs as the OG crew banter about with eachother just to lighten the mood in a dire situation. The villan was neatly written and not some cartoon stareotype.
You can actually tell that the writers put some actual thought and used more than two brain cells to put together a good story and a plot and wittingly tie all the original spooks and characters together while adding a few new ones.
If you love the GhostBusters then buy this over spending 14$ on a movie ticket for a forgettable reboot.

Ah great game. Not only one of the very few good Video Games based on Movies. But the only one that is actually based on an ultimately not developed screenplay of a movie franchise. Ghosbusters: The Video Game should had been Called Ghostbuster: Hellbent as the actual Working Title of the Screenplay. But instead it is just called what it is because Activision. But it is Ghostbusters III as it has been admited by Dan Aykroyd and should be obvious to anyone that read the screenplay from where it is based on.

While i think that it holds up very well if played on Max Settings at 1080p 60fps. And Awesome if played at 4K 60fps. It is one of those games i would like if it got not just remastered, but actually extended via a Definitive Edition. Probably will never happen, so just buy this game. It is already gooey good and scarily cheap.

I would only recommend this game for fans of the movie, but considering that's probably who is reading a review, I'll err on the side of generosity.

This game is just barely enjoyable. Here's my breakdown:

The Good: Reasons I enjoyed it.

- They score an A+ in the nostalgia department. Honestly the music and voice talent alone make this game worth it for a novel trip down memory lane - which, in all honesty, is all this game really is. It had core Ghostbusters talent to the core, written by original writers, acted by original actors.

- The production values are solid, nice visuals, great sound.

- It was cute, and even occassionally witty and funny, in the same sort of cheeseball way as the movie.

The Less Good: Reasons I didn't enjoy it.

- The combat was very repetitive. With few weapons, even fewer distinction between them, and few enemy types, it felt like every fight was just a rehash of the same three things. Weaken/wrangle ghosts, AoE little swarms, run away from and shoot the big guy. This made the actual game playing part the least fun bits.

- Gameplay was a bit clunky. Particularly the wrangling. Granted, it was a novel combat mechanic - I don't think I've had a "drag targetted thing A to place B" in an third-person shooter before. And I acknowledge that they were capturing the "collateral damage" clumsiness of the movie beams, but the wrangling was just a bit too messy. Felt like it needed a lot more polish. As it was it didn't feel like skill captured ghosts so much as persistence and luck. And who knows, maybe that was the point. But it wasn't as fun as it could have been.

The Irrelevant: Just some observations, neither here nor there.

- The game is super short. Easily won in under 7 hours.

- The plot is a complete railroad. More of an interactive movie with some intermittent minigames. Which is fine with me, since another movie was half of what I was after.

This game is a big loveletter to the (old) Ghostbusters fans, everything you loved about the first and even the second movie is here. Because of this, people have been calling this Ghostbusters 3 and I agree with those people, this game IS Ghostbusters 3.

I completed it in a few hours, so if you're not sure if you get enough for the amount of cash you spend don't worry, just wait for a sale, even for 10 bucks it's still pretty much worth it.

For those that are having trouble running this game do this. (Press yes on was this review helpful for others to see)

1. If you can't run this game and it's giving you an error go to OS C: Programs X86.
2. Locate the folder that's called steam.
3. Go to common and find the Ghostbusters: The Video Games' folder.
4. Find the Ghostbuster's exe (it should say application on the right end side)
5. Right click, then click properties that should open up a window called Ghostbusters Properties or something.
Final: Click compatability and then make it run on compatability mode for Windows Vista.

Ghostbusters is not a great game.

The gameplay is a strange hybrid between a clunky third-person-shooter and a partially obscure PS3 game called Folklore. It doesn't play tight or as well as it should, especially during frenzied fights or when navigating the slightly repetitive levels.

You'll only spend approximately 10 hours visiting the iconic NYC locations, and the experience isn't bolstered by a friend. Note: I'm not saying all games are improved by multiplayer, but this game actually *did* support co-op, but the feature was stripped out of the PC version. Lame.

Your AI teammates will really only be useful to revive you on occasion -- that is, when the game doesn't force you to explore solo, or when Egon, Peter, Ray and/or Winston don't get stuck on geometry.

Sadly, 'bustin' makes me feel only adequate.

But. But!

The story is a proper Ghostbusters story. It is a slight retread, and the twists really aren't surprising (oh, how I'd love a polished sequel based on the IDW comic), but the quips (delivered by the classic film's cast) and the environments, and the score, and the... okay, let me try to gather my thoughts.

Ghostbusters is not a great game, but it's a fun romp and good enough that you'll probably enjoy yourself even if you're (inexcusably) not a fan of the franchise. For those of you who have read your Tobin's Spirit Guide from front to back, and drive a modified Miller-Meteor/1959 Chevy Fleetwood painted white, then pick this game up (when it's on sale).

Game is getting a bit long in the tooth in regards to its gfx, but after 45min your 2016 glasses come off and it starts to look impresive, wish i played this years ago.

Story starts kinda so so, but by the middle act it really hooks you.

A great 3rd ghostbusters film that still fun today.

I'm not someone that normaly laughs at jokes, but this game is sooo funny, voice acting is sooo good.

PLEASE buy and play it, much better then the reboot.

It's a shame I'm lukewarm to the Ghostbusters movies, because I'm sure this game is a wet dream for any Ghostbusters fan. Yes, the first movie was great, the second - not so much. The 2016 was ... a movie that will be remembered for its horrible PR. Anyways, to me this game delivered a great third chapter to Ghostbusters. Great voice work and a fun game. Wrangling ghosts into traps and then having Peter or Ray telling witty jokes. I very much enjoyed this game and perhaps for me this is the best game that is based on a movie. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=711862166 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=723771503

+Good enviromental destruction for a 7 year old game
+Unique ghostbusting gameplay
+Have the cast reprising their roles
+Detailed level
-Sometimes gets repetitive
-Not enough ghostbusting and too much generic shooting
-No replay value

Only reccomends if you're a Ghostbusters fan or have lots of money to blow.

The game has little to no replay value, no multiplayer, is relatively short, and has repetitive gameplay. What it does right is capture what made the original movies so great. I think the only way you're going to like the game is if you're a fan of the movies. But if you are a fan of the movies the nostalgia is going to hit hard. They've faithfully recreated locations from the original films including the firehouse. All of the main cast from Ghostbusters 1 & 2 return except for Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis.

Do I think this game is worth the full price of $10? Not really because you can complete the entire game in about 10-12 hours. There are no bonus modes to unlock so you're basically getting one playthough and that's it. But if I'm given the choice between $10 for this game or $10 to see Female Ghostbusters I'd pick this. At least this game is funny and well written.

Ghostbusters III was an amazing film. I was surprised to find it on steam even before it hit theatres, I was surprised to find the original cast as I heard rumors that the cast was all female and it was a remake. This movie must've been filmed a while ago as the cast seems to be fairly youthful with Harold Ramis. Overall i would say the film was enjoyable seeing the old cast do one last film. 10/10 would bust again
