Do not buy this if you use an nVidia video card AND/OR if you're running Windows 7 x64 and up.
Chances are it won't run for you and there's nothing you can do about it, even if you do install the old AGEIA PhysX driver.
♥♥♥♥ this game.

This game is outdated compared to the games of today. The campain is flavourless, the guns are terrible BUT the optimisation is good!

I spent £2.49 on this game and played it for 2 days before uninstalling it. No multiplayer has also rendered this game useless. I say save you cash and buy something different!

Well, I would review the game. Except my old NVIDIA drivers apparently keep me from playing it with some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PhysX error. Considering I'm not on an AMD card, this is annoying.
And no, running some random apt-get like program for windows to properly install it through powershell and installing who knows what it may be on my system is a reasonable solution. Really people, don't run random command lines someone recommends just to run a dated game.
So: I give this game a big fat stupid, since it doesn't run at all. I guess I'm out a few bucks from steam from this steamer, but live and learn: don't buy old games on steam.

This game will not work with recent NVIDIA PhysX drivers, it needs to Ageia 7.1.1 driver and it also wants the PhysX card that NVIDIA orphaned immediately after buying Ageia.

One way to keep this game available, is to dual boot, Steam can be run from anything so its not that big of problem.

I have one other game that also needs that Ageia card

Selling a defective game like this is illegal in many countries, including Canada where I am located.

its a rip of when you try and install it it tries to find a file called AGEIA physx wich is the nvidia physz but the game does not recognize it, you try and contact THQ as steam says they dont anwser you and forget about steam helping they just sell the game there is no kind of support from them, so unless you can find this program you going to loose your money, THANKS STEAM

I am dissapointed to hear that the multiplayer is shut down, but the single player campaign is epic. It has really intense and sustained combat. Also, a ton of different vehicles, drones, rc cars and helis. This old game still kicks a lot of newer shooters asses. reaaalllly worth the sale price... but get it on sale. The campaign is rather short. I've had this game since it was orriginally released but the updates don't work anymore since it became a steam title. I had no problem buying it again. I guess my disk is a beer coaster now.

A pretty solid single player experience as a near-future, open-world, Military themed FPS. The open-world mechanic is refreshing for a single player experience (that isn't battlefield with bots) compared to the modern military shooter campaigns which are very linear. There's still a hint of linearity as each mission is basically about 3 target objectives (at a time) you have to capture/destroy but you can pretty much get to each of them in whatever order you want. Then another 3, and so on, until you've basically hit ever point of interest in the large scale level. It plays out somewhat like Crysis (1) or FarCry (1), but better in my opinion because the combat comes sooner, is more sustained (more ammo, more bad guys, & less time traversing the map), you have allies to fight alongside you, you're given more choice via multiple simultaneous objectives, and the level design is more than just a jungle (it's an urban jungle)

This game lets you use vehicles (tanks) but you can survive w/o having to use them (unlike fights in battlefield). Then there's also using drones (RC cars/helicopters with mounted guns/bombs), which occures quite often-more than I would wish in an FPS game but at least its not the majority (or even the entirety) of any particular mission and It's possible to get the through the mission w/o using them, though can be difficult at times.

Graphics may be slightly dated, but they're unified and solid. Sound is generic but it gets the job done well enough without detracting too much from immersion. Dialog is simple, not much depth. Same with the plot, but this is good as it doesn't try to cram a bunch of narrative/history into your brain when you've come to play a shoot 'em up action game. The controls are tight. You have health regeneration so as long as you have cover, you can almost always stay alive. There are still times where you may die, but the open-world game mechanic makes dying less frustrating as you are not forced to follow the exact same path that just got you killed!!

Overall, great fun playing the single player campaign as an open world shooter. I was disappointed with the last few levels in the cities as you couldn't enter many of the large buildings which greatly restricts your movement and attack options compared to the previous levels in the game.

This is a gem of a war game. Plenty of action or combat to keep you interested and focused.
They should have made a sequel to this one or came out with some DLCs for this one.
This is a game that should have set the standard for the Medal Of Honor,COD and the
Battlefield series.
A classic example of what a war game should be.
For those armchair soldiers out there I highly recommend it.

It was sold at a really low price but on the other hand, it was a rather bad game even though it held a rather high pace throughout the whole game. The AI was close to abysmal - both friendly and enemy AI - and the levels were basically multiplayer levels with some story attached to it... much like the single player part of Battlefield 1942 (except that game had no story at all).

In short, it was not a really good game.

steam has a lot of nerve and obviously boundless greed to be putting completely dead multiplayer only games like this one on a front page sale.

they should not be selling this game at all!! because the one thing the game relies on to function, can not be done anymore!!

if you buy this game today, you are ♥♥♥♥ out of luck!! you will only play by yourself and there is no game there!!!

money spent on this game is money wasted. you have been warned.

Frontlines: Fuel of War is a first person shooter developed by Kaos Studios (Developers of HomeFront) and Now published by Nordic games as the company acquired the IP of the game From THQ during the Closure of Bankurptcy of THQ , Kaos Studios was founded by the mod team Truama Studios for their successful PC Modification of the Year mod Desert Combat For Battlefield: 1942, the gameplay felt like a reminiscent to the Mod and Battlefield: 1942 and the story was great, graphics looks awesome, it's funny that this game is a Teen Rated Game of a first person shooter and most FPS games are now moving towards to rated Ms as of today, although saddly i won't talk about the mulit-player that the game used to had but as of today main servers of the game are no longer operating(i hope Nordic games bring the master servers running again) however Lan Mode is still running if you want to play it with friends at your house, more and all this game is great and hope that a sequel would come in the future, i rated this game a 8.1 out of 10
