About This Game

Nidhogg is the epic award-winning fencing tug-of-war, full of graceful acrobatics and clumsy stabs. IRL yelling and excitement may occur, in this ultimate two-player showdown of fast-paced fencing and melee attacks.

Beware, advantages in Nidhogg are often fleeting, as new opponents continually spawn in your way. Use a variety of fencing maneuvers while armed -- lunges, parries, and even dirty tricks like throwing your sword. If swordless, press forward with punches, sweep kicks, dive kicks, rolls, and wall jumps.

The combat arena stretches in both directions, although besting an opponent only gains you ground. Matches aren’t won or lost with a single kill, but with a series of kills granting you right-of-way to run/fight/flee to your own goal-zone.

Each arena holds different strategic formations and chokepoints to use to your advantage. Until you reach your goal-zone, anything is possible. Only one thing is certain in Nidhogg… the only way to win is to outwit your opponent. En Garde!

Stabbing + even more stabbing. The background art is a e s t h e t i c which is a bonus. The best part is when your sword is impaled into your opponent and you have the choice to either take it out, or move it up and down out of pure malice. Both will result in the ground covered in colorful pixels.

The best thing about this game is when you don't thrust your sword to stab someone and they just walk onto it. And then they're just stuck on your sword, and you move it up and down. That's the best thing about this game. Also something about giant worms or whatever, it's not really important.

Nidhogg is a fun game, with actually very deep fighting mechanics, that you will only figure out over time.
I really like it's aesthetic and visual style, but the asking price of 14,99 € is just too much, but should be on sale for up to 5 euros, definately grab it!

Getting some friends together and doing a Nidhogg tournament is tons of fun! A very simple game that does what it does extremely well. A must have if you have friends that can local play, although it does have online play as well.

Have you ever wanted to poke one of your friends with a pointy stick repeatedly until they agree with you that you are indeed the greatest, the best, the lord and master of this domain? Nidhogg is the arena where this is possible, tangible, and indisputable.

This is essentially a tug-of-war with swords in which either player must reach the opposite end of a long stage divided into separate sections while trying to prevent the other player from doing the same. Its appeal is similar to a fighting game, being a contest of skill between two people, and though it is mechanically simpler than almost any fighting game, it is complex enough to allow different kinds of players to approach the competition in different ways. For example, a friend of mine likes to rely on his sword skills to kill his opponent, while I enjoy playing simple mind games to trick opponents into giving me openings to bypass them altogether. The level design also promotes diverse and adaptable play, with wide-open sections, bottlenecks, varied altitude, and properties unique to each stage, such as the conveyor belts in the mine stage, the disappearing bridges in the cloud stage, and the tall grass in the wilderness stage.
In short, it's a simple kind of fighting game that's easy to learn while still rewarding skillful play.

This game is great fun!
It brought lots of trash talk among fellow colleagues and some became enemies forever.

The gameplay is smooth and controls are responsive,
and everything pretty much feels just right as a serious versus game.
Definitely a must play!

Haha this game is amazing! It's so much fun to swordfight with little pixelated characters that explode with 'blood' when dying. Because of the pixelated style, I won't give the graphics full applaud, but it's a definite buy for the old-school 2D fighting gamer.

Nidhogg is a simplistic fencing game, the winner being the one who comes out on top in a contest of deadly tug-of-war, with a welcoming art style, dynamic soundtrack, a polite attention to detail and incredibly pleasing vistas, this game warms you inside, as you physically and mentally try to out-do your opponent and advance screens. The price isn't totally agreeable, £10.99 ($15) is a tad steep in my opinion as there isn't too much to do alone. However, this game shines in its co-op fun factor. Attemping to line up your friend(s) on your sword like a pixelated shish kebab is very amusing and you'll find yourselves having a blast whenever you're together and Nidhogg's involved. If you've got a buddy to have a 'stab' at this game with then do. Other than that, it's most probably worth getting for yourself in a sale, and only in a sale.

Pretty great game if you have someone to play with, leaves a little to be desired in single player.

Needs a few more levels, especially with the cloud level being very hard on the eyes.

Though as a multiplayer it's super fun, simple to learn the controls without having to bother with advanced mechanics and quite intense, i'd give it a go if you need a quick pick up and play party game, beats the ♥♥♥♥ outta Mario Party or something.

I.... personally don't think this game is worth the full price. If you can find it cheaper, like less than $5, then it is totally worth it! You may get a good couple hours out of it. This game is definitely fun with others and I got plenty of laughs out of it with friends. There just isn't a whole lot to it. There are 4 maps and only one really good game mode. Still I would reccommend it!

An absolutely insane 1 v 1 game about fencing. The controls are simple yet give enough complexity to allow someone to really become a master at them. An insane tug of war that's great for parties, especially with the tournament mode. I highly recommend this game.

Nidhogg is a game that can bring u lots of fun as well as LAUGHS :P
It's a kind of relaxing game that u don't need to use ur brain too much to think abt it. Simple painting style and easy operation is the biggest characteristic of this game. It's a nice option for u if u wants to play this game on coach to relax urself and have some fun. There are four maps in this game and they are all excellent. The BGM in the cloud is awesome! But the color of the background in clouds always makes my eyes feel dizzy. Hope the producer will update more different scenes for the players to play. Unicorn worm is my favorite thing in this game, coz that means VICTORY.
(Hit: It’s more fun with friends. If u don’t have friends play this game with u, do not buy it. Coz u will be so boring by your own!)
So, if u has lots of friends, and u likes to spend ur time on the sofa, this game is totally worth for u.
Btw: wait until a sale to buy it. The price is way too much.
;)
