93/100 – PC Gamer

“It’s the most exhilarating competitive game I’ve played in years.”
9/10 – IGN

“Nidhogg is about the purity of two friends on a couch duking it out as Daedelus’s moody dynamic electronica frames acrobatic displays of wits and reflexes. In that sense, it has no equal.”

About This Game

Nidhogg is the epic award-winning fencing tug-of-war, full of graceful acrobatics and clumsy stabs. IRL yelling and excitement may occur, in this ultimate two-player showdown of fast-paced fencing and melee attacks.

Beware, advantages in Nidhogg are often fleeting, as new opponents continually spawn in your way. Use a variety of fencing maneuvers while armed -- lunges, parries, and even dirty tricks like throwing your sword. If swordless, press forward with punches, sweep kicks, dive kicks, rolls, and wall jumps.

The combat arena stretches in both directions, although besting an opponent only gains you ground. Matches aren’t won or lost with a single kill, but with a series of kills granting you right-of-way to run/fight/flee to your own goal-zone.

Each arena holds different strategic formations and chokepoints to use to your advantage. Until you reach your goal-zone, anything is possible. Only one thing is certain in Nidhogg… the only way to win is to outwit your opponent. En Garde!

Very fun especially if you can play with friends, you might get bored of the singleplayer and online matchmaking is kinda of eh, but playing with friends makes this game fun and nearly worth $10. I would try to get it on sale.
8/10 would throw sword at bs angle again.

Basically a great game to play with some buddies. I can't imagine this being even mildly fun alone, but with some friends and some intoxication this game becomes a hell of a good time. I can't say it has enough content to justify the $15. This is more a game I'd suggest spending under 10 bucks on.

This game needs some time to get into, but once you "git gut" at it is amazing fun when you play with friends.
I had this game and two controllers when I went on holidays with my friends to the middle of nowhere.
I just started up the game cause I was borred and my friends wanted to join in. We ended up playing this game for at least 60 hours and holding one tunament after the other.

11/10 would get crouch jump attacked again

It is a bit too expensive for what is here.

But I'm writing this during the summer sale, so the point above is moot.

So, as I tend to say, if you don't like it in two hours, send it back!!
Otherwise, get out yer stabby and divekick into your opponent's sword.

Too expensive, not enough levels, but addicting as frick! Nidhogg is a fast-paced tug-of-war style multiplayer that requires legit mlg pro fencing skills to win and I love it. I feel that the single player could have more variant modes, but I definitely recommend buying it for the local or online multiplayer when it comes on sale.

way overpriced, 4 levels with 1 gamemode for $15, even if it is fun that's way too much.

It's funny and competitive. No other game lets you that much control over your sword. The fighters are nimble, and the controls are smooth.

As much as it's amazing when playing with someone, it's boring alone, and the online is dead. Buy it only if you have IRL friends. Also, to play only in short game sessions.

game is amazing for a time. but after a while it gets boring with the only things being: stab, throw sword, punch.
that being said, it is loads of fun and it can run on a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ school laptop. more then worth your money

The game that my girlfriend and I are evenly matched in. The butt clenching is real and the button mashing can be evident. Nidhogg is one of those games that remind you of classical combat games in an arcade, it is one of the best indie platformer sword fighting games on the market at this price point. Saying that I think it is the only indie platformer sword fighting game around this price point.

This game is short but sweet having 4 levels to fight in 1vs1 pvp. It's best to play this couch local multiplay as the online mode hardly has anyone playing or you'll disconnect when too much pixel blood is on the floor. Would be eaten by pink serpent hotdog thing again <3

This is a great way to lose friends. This game will have you screaming, possibly raging, and perhaps confused. That being said, it is a great game to play with friends. It is enjoyable, although frustrating as well. It is challenging, but that is a good aspect of competitve games. I bought the game when it was on sale and bought a few extra copies to share with friends. I am certain I would not pay full price for this game. Playing online runs pretty smoothly, sometimes there is a bit of lag, but nothing that changes the game's odds. I have played with another person using a single computer and it was very reponsive, and a great time. I personally think for your own sanity it may be better to have people at separate computers.

TLDR: Good, challenging game that is fun with friends. Wait till it goes on sale, buy a few copies for friends to play too,

Since Steam opened up Chinese region, a large number of Chinese players entered Steam. They no longer play pirated games, but pay for genuine games. Based on the huge population and excellent quality of the game, adding Chinese language support is clearly a win-win option, with a low cost in exchange for unparalleled reputation and substantial revenue, game makers really should consider it carefully. And as far as we know, compared to the quality of the game, the Chinese players prefer pay for the games which have Chinese language - even though it is not particularly good.

An absolutely brilliant title that is an essential edition to your Steam library, assuming you have friends. This game is a blast to play with a buddy or a group of friends. It's easy to play and incredibly satisfying to master. The duels you encounter will be well worth the hefty fee for this game, although I do recommend picking it up during a sale. This game is a 1v1 sword fighting game with very simple controls and it also features a built-in tournament mode for eight players making it a great and essential party game. I can almost guarantee that you will not regret this purchase when it is on sale for anything less than the listed $15.
