93/100 – PC Gamer

“It’s the most exhilarating competitive game I’ve played in years.”
9/10 – IGN

“Nidhogg is about the purity of two friends on a couch duking it out as Daedelus’s moody dynamic electronica frames acrobatic displays of wits and reflexes. In that sense, it has no equal.”

About This Game

Nidhogg is the epic award-winning fencing tug-of-war, full of graceful acrobatics and clumsy stabs. IRL yelling and excitement may occur, in this ultimate two-player showdown of fast-paced fencing and melee attacks.

Beware, advantages in Nidhogg are often fleeting, as new opponents continually spawn in your way. Use a variety of fencing maneuvers while armed -- lunges, parries, and even dirty tricks like throwing your sword. If swordless, press forward with punches, sweep kicks, dive kicks, rolls, and wall jumps.

The combat arena stretches in both directions, although besting an opponent only gains you ground. Matches aren’t won or lost with a single kill, but with a series of kills granting you right-of-way to run/fight/flee to your own goal-zone.

Each arena holds different strategic formations and chokepoints to use to your advantage. Until you reach your goal-zone, anything is possible. Only one thing is certain in Nidhogg… the only way to win is to outwit your opponent. En Garde!

This game is fantastic, but unless you have a few friends to play with, don't get Nidhogg.

The community has sadly deceased, making online multiplayer near impossible.

It's fun, it's a nice casual game, but... It not worth $15.

The content is really minimal, and you'll be done with everything in something like 2 hours.

It's based around the idea of playing it with friends (local and online) but... It's just hard to play for more than 30 minutes due to it's repetivity.

Best played with a friend on the same PC or on his own. Fun for a shot amount of time, with a beer.

Well suited as a drinking game. 9/11 would get stabbed again

Fun game to play with friends or online. Though the controls and concept are simple, the game is complicated and just chaotic enough to be fun.

Zero depth. Clumsy mechanics. Unresponsive controls. Bad network performance. Only fun for about 15 minutes.

Fun game. The solo is a bit stale with the AI being dumb turds falling through platforms that disapear. Online multiplay is eh because the connection was a bit weird for me. However, couch play is the best so you can punch your friend when he/she kills your for the fiftieth time.

Good mechanics but.. unfortunately, as other comments mention, networking seems to be completely broken.
Probably still a good time for hot-seat play, if you have a regular group of buddies for that.
I only paid bundle price, but for me the broken online play leaves me not recommending it.

Fencing. Screams, Pixel blood everywhere. Giant man eating worms. Fisticuffs. Stabbing people with long pointy things. 10/10. Would shed pixelated blood again. Single player very short/aracadish but don't care. So many rainbows of pixel blood.

Not bad to pass the time but would only get it on sale. Simple and fun, feels like a mobile game at times though. Good for fans of fighting games and mind games.

This is one of the most intense pvp experiences on steam. A classic example of less is more. A true minimalist masterpeice. Recommend to players who like to get competitive with their friends as well as those who enjoy spilling some technicolor, pixelated blood.

This game is a lot of fun for single player, but not for very long. i beat the single player in 1.7 hours. i haven't tried it with friends yet (mostly cuz im forever alone and none of my friends have it) but im sure it would be a lot better that way. i only payed $1 usd for this because i got it in a humble bundle but the game normally costs $15 usd and i DO NOT think it is worth nearly that much. i would say this game is worth about $3 usd because there is not much content in it.
