Good RTS, but a bit to hard core for my old age. I like to take the time to build up a base and slowly and strategically expand territory. But even on easy AI difficulty you are soon swarmed by enemies on your base. The game is really about capturing the resource points faster than the enemy otherwise you are screwed.

The game mechanics, graphics, UI and everything is just fine for such an old game. I like the game a lot, besides from getting my ♥♥♥ kicked on easy mode :)

>Late game on Oasis.
>Many nukes stockpiled, one opponent left has many anti-nukes
>He's oddly quiet, something is up.
>Man has been harassing my defenses entire game.
>Launch spy plane suicide rush, panic ensues.
>Crafty sir has a Mavor at 95%, he resource dumps to finish it off asap.
>LAUNCH EVERYTHING
>Resistance is futile, his defenses last long enough for his Mavor to destroy my Paragon.
>Paragon explosion lights off other Paragons I constructed for fault tolerance, Commander dies as my nukes begin their descent.
>GG no RE
>Fault Tolerance failure took me out seconds before I could end my opponent.

10/10 Would kill myself through sheer stupidity again.

This game surely deserves to be called a high-tier rts game. The game delivers everything a rts-fan needs.
A large amount of maps from small to extra large, a campaign, a strong multiplayer & skirmish mode and of course solid gameplay.
The maps are well done and every one of them requires different playstyles. The graphics aren't the best anymore but considering it's a game of 2007, you can connive that. The core aspect of this game is the multiplayer/skirmish mode, which isn't very surprising. It contains a wide range of units, structures and upgrades without getting unbalanced. The capabilities are enormous. This game is more complex than most of his genre representatives and everyone who has played this game won't deny that. But this game isn't perfect. Of course it has some flaws like any other game. The campaign isn't stunning like in c&c or starcraft but it isn't the core aspect anyways. The only bothering thing in this game is the fact that the factions don't differ from each other that much.

All in all this game is superb.

This is the best. Do not tell me about the others, for this one is the best. In no other game I have seen can you build a sprawling military complex, and then build several military complexes each with specific functions. I have built naval bases, radar stations, listening points, walls, artillary bastions and air bases cloaked from radar. I have sent vast fleets to patrol the oceans, I have made refueling stations where spy planes and bombers alike refuel within sight of a walled complex humming with fifty power generators. I have rolled out tanks and bots in intricate military formations and panned the camera down to see my army rumble over hills, kicking up dirt and barging through forests. I have launched nukes and razed my enemies with gunships the size of mountains.

What I have NOT done is endure a measly RTS where you and your opponent start at opposite ends of a tiny map, build one land factory, one mine and two guard towers, and race to get the super unit. Forged Alliance doesn't do that. Forged Alliance treats you like a general, not a MOBA player.

Do not try to play it today. It has many problems with compatibility. Crashes when changing resolution, when using a 7.1 or just when you set graphics on high. If you want to play on a 1024 screen, it's your game.

Excellent, well balanced RTS. It can take a lot of trial and error to get a handle on how to balance your resources, to survive against human players or tough AIs in skirmish mode, but it is worth the effort. The campaign is a little easy, but fun (though I still think the story/campaign of the first game was better).

If you are undecided whether to get this or Supreme Commander 2, get this one (get the gold edition) - it is a much better game than the sequel.

Wooo Hoooo! If I only had the time and patience to get better at this game, I would assuredly do it. The only thing I don't like about this game is th lacks multi core CPU optimization, and 2-monitor mode is broken in windows 10 ):
Everything else is a 10/10 in my book.
