Skydrift is an indie plane racer for PS3, 360 and Windows by Digital Reality.

Menu:
A full menu is available to tweak with as you wish. For an indie game there are plenty of graphics settings incase you can't already run it at 60fps. Audio sliders are good to go. Menu is intended for console and so it works better with controller. Tutorials are in text form and are easy to read through.

Controls:
There is full controller and keyboard support with keyboard being rebindable. Controller is recommended to play and feels better. Keyboard feels a bit out of place especially on default.

Ingame:
Flying through campaign and multiplayer with campaign actually posing a challenge. The game looks great, you'll never see a bad texture with the speed you're going at and so my frames never dropped below 60. There are 3 game modes in campaign and 5 in multiplayer these are speed race, power race and survival with multiplayer adding deathmatch and team deathmatch to the line. All planes have different attributes for speed, acceleration, armour and more.
While going through the campaign you will also unlock extra skins for your planes. When the competition is far ahead it's difficult to catch up and going outside of the intended path will push you back. Tricks will earn you boost power and in power race you can turn in a power like rockets, machine gun and shields for extra boost.

Multiplayer:
You can play online against others and invite your friends which is ofcourse the best way.
Sadly to say nobody is playing the multiplayer so you need friends who own the game.
I was lucky enough to have these and can say that multiplayer is strong and fun.

Achievements:
Steam has a few achievements to unlock mostly done through campaign. The game also has in-game achievements in the form of medals.

DLC:
There are 2 pieces of DLC available. First the airplane pack which adds 3 awesome planes to the selection. Second is a multiplayer pack that adds a few arena maps and weather conditions.

Conclusion:
Skydrift is an action packed game and very enjoyable. For multiplayer you'll need friends who own the game. Great fun will be had! DLC is also up for debate and I would say maybe on a sale.

I only recently got a decent video card, so I'm a geek from way back that needs to catch up on some games. I've also got kiddos, so I can't be too involved on my games... This game is perfect. It's a couple of years old, so no problems running it on newer hardware, but it's FUN. I can play as long or as short a time as I'd like to. I'd love to see additional tracks for this game, but it's unlikely much new is going to come the way of Skydrift. As it stands, with what it is, it's terrific. Not too involved, jump-in-and-play, and stay as long as you like.

I'm having so much fun with it; I wish I'd found it sooner.

One of my favorite racing games. More arcade than simulation.

For comparison:

Mario Kart Wii: 9/10
Blur: 7/10
Skydrift: 8/10
NFS Hot Pursuit (2010): 8/10

Mario Kart meets Waverace 64, in the sky. Loads of fun, beautiful, sounds great. Runs well on my low-mid end PC while still looking gorgeous. Can't seem to get into an online match, but it's worth it just for the single player.

Great idea, and kinda fun, but really not ready for the real world. The game concept itself is great, a bit like other light-hearted racer/shooters such as Mashed or even Mario Kart. The single player offers a few hours of fun races against AIs. But there are two game-breaking shortcomings.

First, it could do with some kind of balance mechanism, like Mario Kart's "catch up" bullet bill. If players get separated from each, they'll just never meet again, leading to a really boring race. This is true for the AIs and human players alike.

Second, a fun racing game like this really needs to be played against humans, but it's so hard to. There's no single-machine (splitscreen or Micro Machines style) mode, so you can only play against someone else with the same game. There's nobody online at all, because it's such a small game. Even if you can find a friend to invite to play, the inviting-through-steam mechanism is really fiddly to get working. And then there's no humans-plus-AIs mode, so you end up with only two people in a race, and because of the first problem you might only see the other player for the first half a lap.

The single-player is reasonable for a quid or two, but the lost promise of what multiplayer might have been spoilt the enjoyment for me. I bought it having read earlier reviews complaining about empty servers, but hoping to play it with friends at LAN parties &c., but even that's no use: no splitscreen, no LAN play, and lack of player interaction in-race.

SkyDrift was a very positive surprise for me.

I bought the game for multiplayer with my kids and ended playing through the single player campaign. The game is a bit like the old Mario Racing, only with planes. It is extremely funny to play online with your friends. Additional copies of the game required, there is no split screen mode. I also enjoyed the good graphics and even bought the DLC with the new planes when it was on sale.

Highly recommended if you look for a casual racer.

I love the concept and really wanted to like this game however I just can't. It simply doesn't live up to my expectations of a flight game.

Pros:
- Nice Graphics. What I have seen in game the graphics are fairly well done. Unfortunately this is only thing that the game has going for it in my opinion.

Cons:
- Flight mechanics are far too simplified and honestly quite terrible. You are pretty much driving a flying car, not flying a plane! You have no independent control of the plane's control surfaces, so forget playing with a HOTAS because it makes absolutely no sense to. Rolling the plane left or right also turns the plane. The game needs more realistic flight controls for me to enjoy the game. I have much better car racing games in my library and would much rather play those, I was looking for a true plane racing game.
- Absolutely no way to adjust controller sensitivity in game therefore small movements of the flight controller stick yeilds overwhelming response in game making controlled flight almost impossible.
- Weird camera position, it is not quite cockpit view nor is it forward looking or third person view. Making control of the plane akward.
- Game does not support ultrawide resolutions especially when using AMD Eyefinity or Nvidia Surround Gaming.

One of the best Flight Simulation with Controller support. I played with my XBOX 360 Controller on my PC.
Worked like Charm. I would like to rate it as 9/10. There are few races which are bit difficult and online players are rare to find and play to unlock last aircraft otherwise one of best flight and combat simulation.

An underrated gem. I prefer playing campaign/solo, so the lack of multiplayer servers doesn't bother me that much. As some have mentioned, the DLCs should just have been part of the base game, but besides that little marketing snafu, this is one heckuva fun race (with power-ups ala Mario Kart). If you see it on sale, grab it, but make sure you have a controller ready. :)

This is a shoot / racing game only.. with planes.... yeah ... how cool is that ??

It really is a game that requires some practice.
Game then also looks really great.
Cool background music that completes it all.
Controls are very nice only I recommend a Xbox 360 Controller.

Different planes to unlock.
There are no upgrades possible in this game.
So it will really how good you become.

I find this game a great experience.
And if you think racing games like this that you should definitely try.

Meh. This game is kinda fun but gets real old after about ten minutes. The "campaign" is a series of seven stages with a half dozen races each, except it recycles the same four maps over and over again so you've pretty much seen the whole game by the time you beat the first stage. The multiplayer deathmatch was a good idea except there's never anybody online to play against. Worth picking up a few copies for you and some friends if it's on a good steam sale I guess.

Really unspectacular racing game with planes. It's the total clusterfuk. You get your typical mario kart weapon boxes with rockets, shield, mines you know the drill. You can get destroyed but get placed back on the track with zero delay... there is just no reason to even play

What a surprise!
This is an extremely fun arcade racer with boost, powerups and unlockable stuff.
The graphics are beautiful, the landscape is stunning, the entire game is fantastic!
This game is similar to BLUR, but with airplanes.
Don't worry, it's not easy at all, it's challenging even at the first few maps!
This game is underrated and overlooked by any means.
WORTH IT!
The only flaw however: no split-screen 2 player mode.
