This may be the best of the Mass Effects. I did like 3, but this one is just so good. Great combat, story. Get it now.

I first played ME2 about 5 years ago, right after I finished ME1, got about half an hour through and uninstalled because I was so turned off by the simplification of the combat system into cover based "bloody screen" shooter. For whatever reason now I decided to play it again, and play it through properly.

The highlight of the game is without a doubt the characterization. All the members of your squad are very well written, and you get a lot of interesting backstory and DEEP LORE from conversing with them between missions. The selling point of course is the "loyalty missions"; side missions you can partake in with each squad member to help them resolve personal issues, usually involving problems from their past coming back. These missions are EASILY the best in the game, exploring the background and personality of the squad member in question and giving them more depth as characters. These missions are also the only ones that present any real moral dilema; the attempts the main storyline makes at giving you "hard choices" are pitiful.

Aside from the loyalty missions and characterization pretty much everything else is worse from the first game. Combat is simplified from the first game and feels much more like a generic 3rd person shooter. The main plot is the same "an ancient evil awakens" that everyone has played a million times before (though the missions to recruit your squad members were interesting enough), and the side missions (with the exception of the loyalty missions) are nothing even worth noting. I won't comment on graphics because I had to turn down a lot of settings to run it on my computer.

I'm recommending this game because despite all the problems I had with it, I still finished the game and had fun (and Mordin is one of my favorite characters in video games I've played to date). If you like intersting, well-written characters and are willing to ignore flaws in other areas, ME2 is definitely worth playing. Otherwise, maybe get it on a sale.

Loved it, one of the best FPS out there. The resource gathering mechanism does get very burdensome and annoying after first play-through. Would definetly recommend though.

A far more action packed entry than its predecessor, though the beginning of a deterioration of the dialogue system (as well as a window into the future of BiowArE's financial model).

Much easier to consume than ME, with an ultimately satisfying final mission (if not final -battle-).

Mass Effect 2 , For some reason couldn't get into 1 but 2 Just clicked with me. Graphics, Story, Skin tight White body suit..... I mean Great characters ya! lol, But seriously The game is pretty dam fun active FPS with cover to cover battles. Setup in space different planets to make the combat and story engaging. Your dialog choices make a real impact on the ending of the story and your choices good or bad effect the look of your character as well. Think Dark / Light Side Star Wars.

I recommend you picking this one up and take a spin around the citadel for the weekend :)

I recommend the game--just not as a digital download.
The buying options on Steam are misleading (I don't think this is Steam's fault, I believe it is more of an issue with how Bioware chose to package their content); Buying the "Digital Deluxe Edition" DOES NOT include ALL in-game content. NONE of the DLCs are packaged into the "Digital Deluxe Edition." And NONE of the DLC is purchasable on Steam. This is NOT readily apparent unless you carefully read the description on Steam. Furthermore, to access the alleged extras in this DDE version, you must make a Bioware account, find the proper pages, download the alleged extras manually, and install manually before you can play them. I originally played ME 2 on PS3, having bought a disk edition that had all the DLCs included. That is your best bet for this game unfortunately. If you buy the digital download, by the time you have all the content (vanilla game + DLCs) you will be sinking WAY more money into Bioware's money grubbing hands then this 6+ year old game is worth.

One of the best games of the current decade, perhaps even the best. I've beaten this game countless times before on console and it still feels as fresh and immersive as ever. The character design, the combat, the visuals, the writing; everything is on point.

The only downsides there are at the moment is the fact that the DLC isn't available on Steam, and the class balance is a bit wonky. Infiltrator and Sentinel stand head and shoulders above everything else, and Engineer is borderline useless. Outside of these minor issues, there's absolutely nothing wrong with this game in my opinion. Just play it already.

Mass Effect 2 is the best of the series with characters that have depth and a truly cinematic presentation. This is an essential title for every gamer and a massive improvement over the first game in every conceivable way.

This is one of the most epic series of games out there. This one did a great job of taking the story along and adding elements that can actually lead through multiple playthroughs.

I have beaten this game at least twice, as I failed to save my playthough before the third came out. I spent more than 241 hours in this game and can say that the story, character development, and play style set the bar high for other top tier games coming out.

I would definately recommend playing through this and the third if you have not. One of the most epic games of all time.

Owned the disk way back when. One of the best games made to date. Bought it again on Steam and found it to be pretty buggy (trapped in walls etc). Be sure to hit the quick save often and you'll be fine.

Bioware has done it again with the second iteration of the series. This is a great buffer game and the best stepping stone in the journey that is Mass Effect. I am dying to play Mass Effect Andromeda. If you have played the first, then you need no more inspiration to play this game other than the fact that this game exists.

The best of the Mass Effect entries. More polished gameplay than Mass Effect, more interesting concept than Mass Effect 3. By the same token, it lacks some of the visual and auditory style reached for by the original Mass Effect in favor of space mariney-ness, and the set pieces are smaller than the huge scripted sequences of ME3. Also, at the end you shoot a 50ft Terminator in the eye.
