Sid Meier's Civilization V is a turn-based strategy game that puts you up against different civilizations that existed throughout the history of the world. When starting a new match you have the oppritunity to choose a civilization to play as which has its own specific leader, trait, building, and unit which determines its unique playstyle. There are several types of victories. Domination, which means your army was strong enough to eliminate every other civilization off the face of the map. Scientific, which means you were able to build a rocket faster than any other civilization. Cultural, which requires you to complete all twenty-five culture traits that give you bonuses depending on which one you choose. Diplomatic, which requires you to recieve enough delegates in order to be voted as the leader of the world, and a Time victory in which you have the top score by the end after a certain amount of turns have taken place.

Throughout the match, you have the ability to train various units which can help you defend your civilization or attack others in order to strive for the domination victory. But you also have to be able to develop science in order to enchance your units in order to make them stronger. But the more stronger the unit the more amounts of production is needed in order to produce the unit. You can also create buildings within each city you settle on the map which provide benefits to the city such as an increase in gold, or improving production.

This game is a very complex strategy game that involves precise tactics, future planning, and being able to develop a backup plan if your plan fails in order for one to be successful. The game is very historical but being a history major is not required in order for you to win.

There have been multiple days where I have started a match at 8 at night and looked up from my screen to see that it was morning. There are so many levels, so many ways to play, and so many paths to pursue. This was the game that turned me on to strategy games.

First of all, you should definitely buy the Complete Edition of Civilization V to fully enjoy the game!

The game has great graphics, many improvements compared to previous Civilization games, but unfortunately it lacks some stuff that I miss, like the Palace and Throne Room . Fortunately, they can be brought back via mods :D

I have always loved Civilization V's motto: "Wait! Just... one... more... turn..." I can confirm you that it's true haha, I always play a few more turns after I beat the game :)

All in all, it's an extraordinary game and I give it a solid 10 out of 10!

Civilization V: Complete Edition is an excellent 4X strategy game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games. The base game was released in September 2010. As a new fan to the Civilization series I was hesitant prior to purchasing this game but having done so, I adore this game. The idea is you build your nation with buildings, build military, conduct diplomacy with other nation states to provide advantage, and research technologies to improve your capabilities. Excitement surrounds this game because as the game progresses the landscape alters, as a nation that is strong early game may be weak in the late game. This review will discuss the gameplay mechanics in regards to strategy and the notable features within the complete edition.

I found it fairly easy to learn the basics of Civilization V, however the difficult aspect was the strategy to building your empire. The overall theme is strategy and positioning. For instance, all 43 nations have a different unique ability, unit, and building. Germany's unique abilities is that it can destroy barbarian encampments with a 67% chance that they join your nation. This strategic component allows you to play each nation as you see fit because if you want to play as a strong economy you can, if you want to be an aggressive militaristic nation you can. All actions such as building a unit or building or moving your unit has consequences. For example, a monument can provide a culture boost but cost one gold per turn to maintain. A unit on a hill can defend better than on flat terrain, and sending your melee units to attack a city can have disastrous outcomes. Therefore, strategy is crucial and I love the strategy and positioning theme within this game because it does not matter if the enemy has six units compared to your two, you use strategy to win. Furthermore, the game is not overly complex and I can testify because as a new player to the Civ series I understood the basics of the game within a few hours and this is because of the easy, simple, and user-friendly interface. The interface does not overload you with information, instead provides the most important information on the screen and all other information through buttons on the top right of the screen. Lastly, the map is split into hexagon tiles. You form cities on tiles and through cities produce workers. These workers build on tiles connected to your nation which they can build quarries, mines, farms, and so forth that contribute to your resource intake that I will mention in a moment and your overall productivity and growth of individual cities.

The game incorporates an abundance of features. As said above, the game utilises research and diplomacy. Research is straight-forward as the more you research the quicker you progress into the following era. You open the research screen and research a technology. Each technology has up to five unlock options, for instance, iron working can unlock swordsman and other things. Researching technologies require science that can be gained through diplomacy with other nations, trade and buildings. Diplomacy allows you to talk with another nation or city state which means you can trade resources, exchange embassies, become friends, and so forth - there are a ton of various options. Speaking of city states, these are independent small political entities that can provide benefits to your nation in return for gifts or protecting them, basically helping them. Resources play an important role in Civ V because strategic resources help your nation build things that require those resources and luxury resources increase your happiness and trade opportunities, which both are significant in the growth of your nation. For instance, building a quarry on a marble tile allows you consume one marble which helps improve your happiness. Similarly, if you build a mine on an iron tile it allows you to build things like swordsman, which otherwise could not be built without it. Resources are important because they allow your economy to function by building things that require a particular resource. Furthermore, happiness is pivotal because the happier your nation is the more chance a golden age occurs, which is a boost in all productivity levels. If your nation is at minus ten happiness your cities revolt. Lastly, a social policy provides bonuses to your nation and social policies are split into different tiers that aim for different things. For instance, you can use a social policy to improve your military or your happiness and so forth, reflecting the strategic part of the game.

So two paragraphs of pure information and not much analysis. Well, all these features complement the other and add so much depth into the game. It is not a basic game, rather it's an easy to learn and depth game with tons of content. Nation placement changes with each game so there is always variety and lasting appeal within Civilization V. Another strategic element is within nation relations because I have been attacked countless times by enemy AI that I was friendly towards and it represents the saying of 'don't trust anyone'. In other words to summarise the 'circle' of features, all features are balanced and make for an extremely enjoyable experience because it all depends on the strengths of your nation. For instance, if I am Rome, I would research a social policy that improves my productivity and trade and research technologies that accompany this stance like a market.

And to finish it off, the multiplayer portion of the game is very stable and extremely fun.

Civilization V: Complete Edition is a phenomenal game. I love the features, the gameplay, the map, and just the core mechanics complement the nature of the game. It promotes strategy through the strengths of a nation and your actions within the game depend on a variety of factors such as city and terrain, military and growth. The game features an abundance of nations to decide from, meaning the game has lasting appeal. Firaxis have really nailed down the core game and reinforced the factor you are running a nation to how you want to run it, but the idea is you must conquer the world in some way or form. I highly recommend this game.

6 years after release, Civ 5 remains one of my favourite games. The graphics are still on point and the amount of content in the game is astounding.

If your looking for a review on this game you've come to the wrong place, but if your looking for an outstanding pie recipe you've come to the right place.

Ingredients:
1. 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
2. 1/2 cup white sugar
3. 1/2 cup brown sugar
4. 1/4 cup water
5. 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
6. 1 pinch salt
7. 5 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
8. 1 pastry for double-crust pie

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2. Combine butter, white sugar, brown sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, remove from heat and set aside.
3. Roll out half the pastry to fit a 9-inch pie plate. Place bottom crust in pie plate; pour in apple slices.
4. Roll out top crust into a 10-inch circle. Cut into 8 (1-inch) wide strips with a sharp paring knife or pastry wheel. Weave the pastry strips, one at a time, into a lattice pattern. Fold the ends of the lattice strips under the edge of the bottom crust and crimp to seal.
5. Pour butter-sugar mixture over top of pie, coating the lattice, and allowing any remaining sauce to drizzle through the crust.
6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), and bake until the crust is golden brown, the caramel on the top crust is set, and the apple filling is bubbling, 35 to 40 more minutes. Allow to cool completely before slicing.

So due to Civ VI being announced i thought why not ill put this out because a lot of people are going to wonder if they should buy this game as the price has indeed gone down quite a bit.

Civ V is the reason i downloaded steam, I saw the youtubers Yogscast play it and it looked like a lot of fun, after playing this i can confirm that this game IS A LOT of fun even without anyone to play with.
Lots of nations and map types to choose from many ways of winning such as culture, diplomatic, science and my personal favourite Domination ;) .
Even if you get bored there are countless of mods to choose from that adds new nations, bulidings, troops, dialouge. Release your inner patriot and take over the world!
