Take ‘One More Turn’ in Civilization VI

We’re excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Civilization franchise by announcing Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, the next entry in the award-winning turn-based strategy franchise. Be sure to follow the Steam Community group here and add the game to your Steam wishlist!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/289070
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, set to launch on PC on October 21, 2016, offers new ways to interact with your world, expand your empire across the map, advance your culture and compete against history’s greatest leaders to build a civilization that will truly stand the test of time. Your story begins later this year!

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI includes:

  • EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain.
  • ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures.
  • DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.
  • COMBINED ARMS: Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units.
  • ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER: In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session.
  • A CIV FOR ALL PLAYERS: Civilization VI provides veteran players new ways to build and tune their civilization for the greatest chance of success. New tutorial systems are designed to introduce new players to the underlying concepts of Civilization so they can easily get started on a path to victory.

This game is seriously messed up... I mean it... You sit down to play it for an hour or two and you wonder when the sun came out and where the last 17 hours of life went. This on top of the fact that you are yelling at your best friend for nuking your puny army whilst you were ohh so close to that science victory leads to a unique experience that you can't get anywhere else. It's a one of a kind game that EVERYONE should try. If you don't have it already, you're really missing out. Also, don't be afraid to start out on easier difficulties. If you try and play on normal difficulties at first you'll just be frustrated.

Note: My hours are not even remotely accurate for some reason.

Civ 5 is a game I keep coming back to. After a while, each playthrough tends to play the same but after time away, I'll always be back for more. There are always a few unique defining moments so even if you follow the same playstyle, each game is different. If choosing between this and Civilisation: Beyond Earth, this is superior imho. I much prefer the linear tech progression to BE's tech web, though perhaps just because it requires less thought and less time spent checking where what you want is...

As a caveat, I'd definitely recommend playing with the add-ons 'Gods and Kings' and 'Brave New World' installed as they massively improve the mid- and late-game respectively.

This game is good, don't get me wrong, but there are a few issues.

- Gandhi
- Gandhi
- Gandhi

Okay, but seriously:

- The AI can (but usually don't) warmonger as much as they want, but they hate it when you warmonger.
- It seems like the AI doesn't need to worry about Unhappiness or negative GPT (gold/turn)
- The default 300/500/whatever (depends on quick/standard/epic/marathon pace) turn limit, when you forget to uncheck it, can make you win/lose before you reach your preferred method of victory.
- The AI, besides any player difficulty buffs, gets the buffs that the player gets at Chieftain difficulty, so even at Prince (normal) difficulty, the AI gets a boost.

There ARE a great number of good things though:

- The addition of religion in the DLC adds a new scope to the gameplay.
- The game gets more varied the longer your game gets.
- The multiplayer, when you find someone to play with, gets intense as hell.
- You can enjoy this without much experience in the 4X genre (this is my first 4X game, Civilization or otherwise!...well, I played one game on Civilization: Revolution)
- The amount of different difficulty levels means someone of any skill level still has a chance.
- The variety of maps is quite nice.
- The ability to alter temperature, world age, etc. in advanced options makes for a very customizable experience.
- You won't get any sleep tonight if you play this game.

I would recommend this to anyone EXCEPT those that are loyal to Civ IV or other 4X games. You loyalists may be disappointed, as I've seen in the opinions of many Civ IV or Europa Universalis players. Hmph.

This game is to me, what hard drugs are to my aunt. This game has caused me more heartache and pain than any thing else in my life. I used to be happy once, then I played this game. Now I spend most of my time regretting every choice I made leading up to my purchase of this game. I have spent way too much time in this game, and I still haven't even scratched the surface of this game. You know how you can beat most games? Well this game laughs at the concept of "Beating" a game, as the game whips out its belt again to give you the bussiness. This game will tease you over and over again, as soon as you feel as though you are winning, this game will pull the rug out from under you and kick you while you are down. And I feel this way about my experiences from playing this game on Prince, (normal). The few times that I have played on a higher difficulty (Diety) I felt as though God himself had descended from heaven to beat me like I owed him money.
So, I'd give this game a 9/10 (after dlc).

great game but the AI is poor. For example I have been friends with a nation since meeting them and forging a declaration of friendship and setting up trade routes aswell as me giving free luxurys and gold to help my friend advance.

I get into a small fight with one aggressive leader so I invade his land and now all of a sudden my long term friend hates me and thinks I'm a war mongering menace to the world!

lets pray Civ 6 has better AI.

For ONCE the achievements (mostly the win as x ones) add to the game.

Respect Elizabeth,
Avoid Caesar,
Those crazy Vikings, just no, walk away.

i like the part when Americans built the great wall around new york and washington.
I like the part when Impis(Zulu warriors) 1v1 destroyed a Giant death robot.
I like the part when you can research internet before researching computers.
I like the part when you found out how to build a tank after exploring an ANCIENT ruin.
I like the part when my stealth bomber died from attacking an enemy worker.
I like the part when I cannot build a plantation unless I research the technology named CALANDAR.
I like the part when my workers build the pyramid under water when there's no room on land.
I like the part when Russia started the religion named confucianism.
I like the part when helicoptors become ships when they cross water.
I like the part when Ghandi the Terrible nukes everyone in order to give peace to the world.

Some believe that the world started from an explosion. If an explosion were able to transform something amazing, i'd throw a bomb at my house to transform it into a mansion

Do you know what this means???

We were wrong about ghandi all along!!

When he nukes us, he actually wants us to become even greater! This changes everything.

10/10 would let a city throw rocks at my stealth bomber and die again.

One of the best 4x games to date, countless hours of fun and itching for "one more turn".

Plenty of Civs to pick from so you can mix up playstyles.

DO BUY THIS GAME IF:
1. Suicidal (you'll never get round to it)
2. You want to see Gandhi have a nuclear arsenal.
3. You need an excuse (I couldn't go to your wedding man, I was denounced by Gandhi and I had to form allegiances with the Huns to protect myself!)
4. You want to say "I wish I could play with Hitler" without getting several concerning calls from a nazi fetish group

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF:

1. You plan on going to the gym
2. You wanted to go out tonight
3. You have homework
4. You want to maintatin your relationship with your family
5. You want anything beyond the walls of your room to acknowledge your existence
6. YOU DON'T WANT ♥♥♥♥ING GANDHI OF ALL PEOPLE TO NUKE YOUR ♥♥♥♥ING CAPITAL THE DAY BEFORE YOU COMPLETE THE MANHATTAN PROJECT FOR ♥♥♥♥S SAKE!
