Take ‘One More Turn’ in Civilization VI

We’re excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Civilization franchise by announcing Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, the next entry in the award-winning turn-based strategy franchise. Be sure to follow the Steam Community group here and add the game to your Steam wishlist!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/289070
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, set to launch on PC on October 21, 2016, offers new ways to interact with your world, expand your empire across the map, advance your culture and compete against history’s greatest leaders to build a civilization that will truly stand the test of time. Your story begins later this year!

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI includes:

  • EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain.
  • ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures.
  • DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.
  • COMBINED ARMS: Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units.
  • ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER: In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session.
  • A CIV FOR ALL PLAYERS: Civilization VI provides veteran players new ways to build and tune their civilization for the greatest chance of success. New tutorial systems are designed to introduce new players to the underlying concepts of Civilization so they can easily get started on a path to victory.

Civ V - Definitely worth a look

Civilization V is a very well rounded game for the strategy genre. While it isn't quite as encompassing as Civ IV in terms of tactical knowledge, strategy experiences, etc. It's still a decently solid game. The controls are easy and familiar, as with many of the Sid Meier games. Civ V graphics are also completely beautiful. I love that they have really created an immersive world for strategy.

I do love the perks and advantages of all of the Civilizations to choose from. I often find myself going back to this game to go through all of the leaders and trying to win different scenarios with each one. I do think that some leaders are extremely better equipt and have massive advantages over others. But, I do realize that this helps balance gameplay.

As for customizing your gameplay experience. I was quite pleased with what Civ V had to offer. If you find yourself rolling your eyes at the pitiful attemps of barbarians around you. You can always change the setting in the gameplay beforehand and make barbarians harder. I also like the random personalities feature for each leader. This helps add some unpredictability to the game.

Overall, as much as I truly love strategy games, I think Civ V is definitely up there in the ranks of the top. I always enjoy my experience in it. While it is lacking in some areas of warfare tactics, it is still a completely enjoyable game to play.

This game...
Oh my hog this game...
I got it way back when it was just released with few DLCs to speak of, and only recently really fell in love with it.
I will never underestimate a Sid Meier's game again, this game is just the pioneer of RTS's
The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is amazing if you like the slower-pacedness that it has.
The fact that it has multiplayer so you can go and nuke your friends is amazing, even though with bots only it's interesting too as every bot has a different way of dealing with things.
If you can get your hands on all the DLCs in a bundle I highly recommend it but the vanilla game as it stands is a great work of art as well.
Highly recommended!
Watch out for that prick Gandhi tho! DO NOT LET THAT GUY GET TO THE ATOMIC ERA

Civ V has got to be one of the best turn-based strategy games of all time. I absolutely recommend this game for anyone who likes to play computer games. I am not a big fan of turn-based games myself, but I thoroughly enjoy playing this game every time I open it. The gameplay is in-depth and well-thought out. Overall, this is a great game and is enjoyable for many.

Sid Meier's Civilization V is a strategy game like no other that you have seen. This game has you start from a group of settlers founding a simple village to the vast glory of a marvelous empire. Many aspects of the game tie in to what may seem like a complicated experience, and I would definitely know as my friends all have vastly greater knowledge on this game than I do. The journey to getting food, science, and production, the links and bonds between empires, the combat, and many, oh so many singular factors are taken into account for your point total. This game may be tedious at times in early game, however with the correct strategy, you can soon be way beyond your comrades culturally, technologically, and socially. You have the option with the turn-based system to have a quick fifteen minute session to possibly hours at a time. Also, with the addition of numerous mods and DLC, the game just keeps adding on to itself. The question now is: Do I recommend this game? The answer is: Of course I do. Why wouldn't I?

Some believe that the world started from an explosion. If an explosion were able to transform something amazing, i'd throw a bomb at my house to transform it into a mansion

Do you know what this means???

We were wrong about ghandi all along!!

When he nukes us, he actually wants us to become even greater! This changes everything.

10/10 would let a city throw rocks at my stealth bomber and die again.

One of the best 4x games to date, countless hours of fun and itching for "one more turn".

The MP is wonky at times, but I never have gamebreaking issues.

Plenty of Civs to pick from so you can mix up playstyles.

DO BUY THIS GAME IF:
1. Suicidal (you'll never get round to it)
2. You want to see Gandhi have a nuclear arsenal.
3. You need an excuse (I couldn't go to your wedding man, I was denounced by Gandhi and I had to form allegiances with the Huns to protect myself!)
4. You want to say "I wish I could play with Hitler" without getting several concerning calls from a nazi fetish group

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF:

1. You plan on going to the gym
2. You wanted to go out tonight
3. You have homework
4. You want to maintatin your relationship with your family
5. You want anything beyond the walls of your room to acknowledge your existence
6. YOU DON'T WANT ♥♥♥♥ING GANDHI OF ALL PEOPLE TO NUKE YOUR ♥♥♥♥ING CAPITAL THE DAY BEFORE YOU COMPLETE THE MANHATTAN PROJECT FOR ♥♥♥♥S SAKE!

This game should be treated as a mandatory training simulator for anyone wanting to work in education or run for public office. Completely serious, here.

Now, I'm not saying it's a perfectly realistic simulation. Far from it. However, it will quickly demolish any racial and/or nationalistic delusions the player holds and forces them into the harsh reality of why societies succeed or fail - and the fact that most of it comes down to where started out on the map, a few "minor" decisions early on that snowballed into major consequences centuries later, and no small amount of plain random luck.

It also shows us how technology evolves and the iterative nature of scientific progress. That is to say it demonstrates how everything is build on top of everything that came before it. It also demonstrates how the world started off as mostly one big land grab until it ran out of land to grab, and how the timing of our world wars shortly thereafter was almost inevitable. And, much like real life, how the modern "stalemate" has transformed the nature of war into a class of competing cultures and jockying for position, if only because all the players left on the board are simply too big to be taken down directly.

As for the game itself, compared to Civ4 the graphics are obviously better. The new "one unit exclusive" hex mechanic took some getting used to, but in the long run it's still doable and does make unit rotation & survival more important than the old "stack everything to the max" method. Most important, however, is that this is the Civ game that opened the door to modding and the Steam Workshop - and that makes a world of difference, trust me.

If Civ5 has one flaw anywhere I'd say it was in not getting Leonard Nimoy to come back & do the tech blurbs for them a second time. I'd like to hear how that decision was rationalized in the board room.
