Sid Meier's Civ V is a great game. You can play solo our with friends or with anyone. This is the fifth in the line of great games.
you start with a seattler unit and some form of warrier unit. The object is to build cities (made with seattler units) and grow the cities into an Empire to control the world. You will encounter other civilizations which you can fight or make friends with. You also will encounter barbarians which you need to eliminate.
This game allows you to grow and explore a world which you get to pick from several sizes and types (from small to Huge), or earth itself (also small to Huge). As you grow you will get to chose different technologies and types of units to build. You also get to pick the type of buildings for each of your cities. You decide how to conquer the world. By fighting, thru diplomacy and several other ways. This ia a GREAT game which I love to play.

A good game. I've spent a fair number of hours testing out different nations, and the experience is always satisfying. So I would recommend the game for people who enjoy calculated and turn-based strategy. Only wish would be that the developers would have included more personality to the game and the nations you can choose from. There is not much deviation from a standard baseline regardless of who you choose.

Okay when I was looking to see if I wanted to get this game the reviews were AWESOME. But it was extremly expensive. It was over $25! At least when I got it. But I did it anyway because it sounded intresting and the reviews were great. So then I started playing it, You go around and try to collect money and build farms and get workes something like that I dont exactly remember but it sounded good because it was the same kind of concept of a lot of other games I liked. Sort of like a war kind of money collecting/building sort of thing. But in my opinion the game was kind of pointles and boring. For example I bought a farm and workes which alowed me to to make wool and other matrials. But then I couldnt even use that wool to make anything that was useful like weapons or defenses. Besides it takes like 2 weeks to unlock being able to gol to war. And you just roam your little island just oving your guys aroud talking to people and spending money on pointless things. So if I were you I would not waste my money.

Some believe that the world started from an explosion. If an explosion were able to transform amazing, i'd throw a bomb at my house to transform it into a mansion

Do you know what this means???

We were wrong about ghandi all along!!

When he nukes us, he actually wants us to become even greater! This changes everything.

10/10 would let a city throw rocks at my stealth bomber and die again.

Very good game, with lots of replayability and workshop expansions, but original price and DLC prices are quite high for what the game is.

At first I didn't like how I can no longer stack units. But after playing the game a few times I have to say that makes the game far more interesting as you have to put a lot more thought in your strategies. So far this game is the pinnacle of the Civillization series.

This game is as good as you could ever hope for a 4x to be. I've not put nearly as many hours as many into this game, but I still can't resist its pull - my yearly playthrough always sucks me in.

The gameplay follows the standard formula (and in many ways defines it) of eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate. The paths to victory are myriad, and every time you play you will find yourself in the middle of a new story - one that pits Bismarck against Ghandi, and Queen Elizabeth against Attila.

The caveat that I'll issue is that this game is not great on its own; the expansions (Gods & Kings, Brave New World) are practically required for the new systems that they add and the revisions that they make to the core of the game. With these expansions, the game is trule a masterpiece.

The lingering negative thought I have is that the game does not support mods in multiplayer; other games have managed to support this, but in Civ V this was apparently not a possibility that Firaxis was willing to support. So, sadly, 90% of the content that has been generated by the excellent modding community since release is not available to play with your friends.

All you need to know is f*ck Gandhi. If he is in your game you better eliminate him before he turns your cities into Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Other than that this game is very fun and addicting, especially when playing with friends.

Things I learned very quickly in my first game:
1) Luxury Resources are very important
2) Rush the Great Library
3) Beware of Gandhi
4) When you sit down to play for "just an hour," that actually means 12 hours and several Mountain Dews

i like the part when Americans built the great wall around new york and washington.
I like the part when Impis(Zulu warriors) 1v1 destroyed a Giant death robot.
I like the part when you can research internet before researching computers.
I like the part when you found out how to build a tank after exploring an ANCIENT ruin.
I like the part when my stealth bomber died from attacking an enemy worker.
I like the part when I cannot build a plantation unless I research the technology named CALANDAR.
I like the part when my workers build the pyramid under water when there's no room on land.
I like the part when Russia started the religion named confucianism.
I like the part when helicoptors become ships when they cross water.
I like the part when Ghandi the Terrible nukes everyone in order to give peace to the world.

Sleep-destroyer...

If I don't have at least 10 hours in front of me I don't start Civ V.

Technically I Can save and reload whenever I want.

But in reality, I can't stop. Game is that good.

My favorite Civilization to date. Hex tiles and no stacking makes combat fun and more tactical. The new systems work incredibly well without altering what makes the game Civilization. Civ V is an excellent game.

every time i try to describe this game it comes off like one of those goofy joke games that kids in cartoons talk about

"oh yeah and you can play as george washington and get the manifest destiny bonus to expand your territory rapidly while you fight with genghis khan over resources"

i think that's how i know this is a good game
