We’re excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Civilization franchise by announcing Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, the next entry in the award-winning turn-based strategy franchise. Be sure to follow the Steam Community group here and add the game to your Steam wishlist!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/289070
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, set to launch on PC on October 21, 2016, offers new ways to interact with your world, expand your empire across the map, advance your culture and compete against history’s greatest leaders to build a civilization that will truly stand the test of time. Your story begins later this year!

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI includes:

  • EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain.
  • ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures.
  • DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.
  • COMBINED ARMS: Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units.
  • ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER: In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session.
  • A CIV FOR ALL PLAYERS: Civilization VI provides veteran players new ways to build and tune their civilization for the greatest chance of success. New tutorial systems are designed to introduce new players to the underlying concepts of Civilization so they can easily get started on a path to victory.

Recommended, but Civ 5 overpromises but undelivers. If you are going to play it, make sure you have "Brave New World" verison, the previous version was unplayable. (Also make sure you keep certain "Civs" off game b/c some have unique features which throw the game completely off balance. See Austria). Civ 5 is fun at first but it isn't good for long-term playability. Sure, it is difficult at first, but, once you figure out the game, it's pretty easy. The game is either boom or bust. Before you figure out the game, the computer will stomp you into the ground. Once you figure it out, you'll absolutely crush them. (If I want to make it somewhat fun, I'll hold my punches). I start each game thinking that this time will be different but it ends up a wash especially when you get to modern time (even hardest difficulty).

Personally, in my opinion, Civ 2 was the best in the Civilization series and it's been downhill since. Civ 2 was a "choose your own adventure" type game, whereas Civ 3/4/5 have too many rules and restrictions. Civ 3 and beyond have lost sort of adventure & mystery which was the addictive quality of Civ 1 and Civ 2. Civ 2 is still harder & more fun than Civ 3/4/5 especially if you don't play it straight throughout w/o reloading if things don't go your way.

I wish the Civilization series would aim at enchancing the original game play in Civ 2 and make the AI stronger. Instead, they get too complicated with all these "features" - culture, tourism, etc. I don't think I'll buy Civ 6. I keep hoping that they'll re-capture the magic of Civ 1 and Civ 2, but the game designers keep failing. They overcomplicate things and make one or two features in the game which either irritate you to death or make things unbalanced.

>Is playing my 50th playthrough.
>I'm Venice because I love money.
>I say "Why the hell not" and put Bismarck in the game.
>Big mistake.
>So now I have Rome, Germany, Polynesia, Carthage, and Japan. (a small game)
>Chooses continents.
>Start game.
>First person I meet is Bismarck who proceeds to plant his third city in the ancient era right next to Venice, restricting its borders.
>I tell him not to put cities next to me, refuses of course.
>He proceeds to attempt to bully me for the next two eras.
>In this time I meet everyone else.
>Carthage is friendly, but Rome destroyed them, taking her down to her capital in the first era.
>Once I had a standing army, Rome was friendly.
>Polynesia becomes permanent allies, asking for money but not too often as for me to get annoyed.
>Japan is stoic, refusing to become allies, but we trade and become good acquaintences.
>Game goes on as I become the richest empire. I raise a navy.
>Bismarck gets angry.
>I get city-state allies.
>Bismarck gets angry.
>I BREATHE.
>BISMARCK GETS ANGRY.
>He declares war when he has pikemen and I have frigates.
>He sends his units along the coast from his 3rd of 14 cities.
>My frigates destroy them but he almost got into my borders.
>I make peace, with him giving me nothing in the process.
>I have the largest navy in the world.
>We get to the modern era.
>I get battleships.
>B*itches love battleships.
>I get marines and infantry and decide it's time to start.
>I declare war on Bismarck and absolutely destroy him.
>I use Merchants of Venice to buy his city state allies.
>I use them as staging grounds, holding my units there.
>I attack, destroying each and every city until Berlin (he had about 4 left at this point)
>I take Berlin easily, and then watch as his capital moves then gets captured until he has one city left. I take it, with Bismarck saying "I'll be back."
>He didn't come back.
>Rome gets ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
>Polynesia was destroyed by Bismarck so he did not have much to fight me with.
>Carthage was defeated an Age before by Rome.
>Japan begins building units and posting them outside my borders.
>I line a few battleships up on his borders, he backs down.
>Rome prepares to attack.
>I line my fleet up and attack.
>The piece of sh*t uses submarines.
>I HATE SUBMARINES!!!!!1111!!!
>I get destroyers and wipe them out.
>Suddenly I get a notification that I won through like 3 of the 4 difficulties (as expected)
>I say "just one more turn" and the next era begins.
>The fight isn't over yet, and I still have the world to conquer.

This was my first game of the Civilization series and I absolutely love it. The game has eight difficulty levels, making it very approachable for newbies. It's the ultimate "easy to learn, difficult to master" game. The best part is that it has virtually infinite replay value because each game plays out very differently based on several factors, including: which civ you're playing as, what resources you start near, which other civs you start near, which other civs are in the game (some you might not meet until halfway through the game), what the map is like (most maps are randomly generated each game based on scripts), and more.

Further extending replay value, there are several different options you can choose when setting up a game (size of map, map type, number of civs, game speed, difficulty, number of city states, barbarian behavior, and more)

Each AI-controlled civ has it's own "personality" that determines its behavior, and it's fun getting to know each civ over different playthroughs. There are four main victory types (domination, science, cultural, and diplomatic) as well as a fifth "Time Victory" that triggers on turn 500 if no civs have reached victory (this victory condition can be disabled and I play with it turned off). So there are a variety of strategies that can lead you to victory.

I've won many games without going to war once, just as I've war mongered my way to victory in other games. The fun in the game is in learning to adapt to each situation the game puts you in as no two games play out exactly the same way. The only real negative about the game is you can easily lose track of time as you become so engrossed in the game, and end up playing into the wee hours thinking "just one more turn" over and over.

Definitely buy the complete edition or at the very least the two expansions (Gods and Kings and Brave New World). The extra map packs are pretty optional, but you pretty much need the expansions and you'll definitely want to have all of the available extra civs at your (or the AI's) disposal. The game goes on sale often enough so if you can't afford full price, add it to your wishlist and wait for a sale.

Single player is ok, but not much improved on previous civilization games.

The feature I was most interested in was multiplayer. However, too much dlc makes this game hard to play with other people. If a host has any dlc you don't have you can't join the game.
And perhaps I was too impatient but, most games either end very quickly. That is there is widespread war very early, so not a whole lot of actually building a civilization. So just build an army as quickly as possible and people will rage quit when they can't just wipe you out.
It may sound amusing to withstand an onslaught, but you get to do nothing else but fight. At least in my limited experience.

Some believe that the world started from an explosion. If an explosion were able to transform something amazing, i'd throw a bomb at my house to transform it into a mansion

Do you know what this means???

We were wrong about ghandi all along!!

When he nukes us, he actually wants us to become even greater! This changes everything.

One of the best 4x games to date, countless hours of fun and itching for "one more turn".

Plenty of Civs to pick from so you can mix up playstyles.

DO BUY THIS GAME IF:
1. Suicidal (you'll never get round to it)
2. You want to see Gandhi have a nuclear arsenal.
3. You need an excuse (I couldn't go to your wedding man, I was denounced by Gandhi and I had to form allegiances with the Huns to protect myself!)
4. You want to say "I wish I could play with Hitler" without getting several concerning calls from a nazi fetish group

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF:

1. You plan on going to the gym
2. You wanted to go out tonight
3. You have homework
4. You want to maintatin your relationship with your family
5. You want anything beyond the walls of your room to acknowledge your existence
6. YOU DON'T WANT ♥♥♥♥ING GANDHI OF ALL PEOPLE TO NUKE YOUR ♥♥♥♥ING CAPITAL THE DAY BEFORE YOU COMPLETE THE MANHATTAN PROJECT FOR ♥♥♥♥S SAKE!

$80.00 for a game seems a bit steep to me, I normally wait for the sales. Based on the hours I've played it works out to $0.07 and hour of entertainment. I guess I can justify buying the next one when it comes out.

Oh ♥♥♥♥♥, someone's firing nukes! Is it America? Mongolia? Russia? No. It's Ghandi. The only game where Ghandi is a master strategist in nuclear annihilation.

It's a very addictive game. When I finished the first round,I didn't dare to start the secon.Because this game can make you forget the passage of time. And forget all the things you need to do.If you have a girlfriend or want to find a girlfriend. Please stayaway from this game.
