Take One More Turn in Civilization VI

We’re excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Civilization franchise by announcing Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, the next entry in the award-winning turn-based strategy franchise. Be sure to follow the Steam Community group here and add the game to your Steam wishlist!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/289070
Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, set to launch on PC on October 21, 2016, offers new ways to interact with your world, expand your empire across the map, advance your culture and compete against history’s greatest leaders to build a civilization that will truly stand the test of time. Your story begins later this year!

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI includes:

  • EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain.
  • ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures.
  • DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.
  • COMBINED ARMS: Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units.
  • ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER: In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session.
  • A CIV FOR ALL PLAYERS: Civilization VI provides veteran players new ways to build and tune their civilization for the greatest chance of success. New tutorial systems are designed to introduce new players to the underlying concepts of Civilization so they can easily get started on a path to victory.

Despre acest joc

Sid Meier's Civilization IV®: Beyond the Sword is the second expansion pack for Civilization IV - the 2005 PC Game of the Year that has become a worldwide hit. The expansion focuses on the time periods after the invention of gunpowder and delivers 11 unique and challenging scenarios created by the development team at Firaxis as well as esteemed members of the Civ Community. Civ IV: Beyond the Sword also includes ten new civilizations, sixteen new leaders, five new wonders, and a variety of new units that offer even more fun and exciting ways for players to expand their civilization's power as they strive for world domination.
  • Expanded Epic Game: Adds a massive increase of new units, buildings, and technologies to the epic game with a tremendous amount of effort focused on the late game.
  • New Game Scenarios: 11 new scenarios custom-designed by the team at Firaxis and some members of the Civ Fan Community.
  • New Civilizations: 10 new civilizations, such as Portugal, Babylonians, and Netherlands and their associated unique units and buildings.
  • More Civilization Leaders: Sixteen new leaders, both for the new civilizations as well as additional leaders for existing civilizations, including Hammurabi of the Babylonians, Abraham Lincoln of the United States, and Sitting Bull of the Native Americans.
  • Corporations: A new game feature similar to religion allows players to found companies and spread them throughout the world. Each corporation provides benefits in exchange for certain resources.
  • Espionage: Now available earlier in the game, this feature offers players many new ways to spy on opponents, stir citizen unrest and defend government secrets.
  • Events: New random events - such as natural disasters and pleas for help or demands from their citizens - challenge players with obstacles that must be overcome for their civilization to prosper.
  • New Wonders: Five new wonders await discovery, including the Statue of Zeus, Cristo Redentor, the Shwedagon Paya, and the Mausoleum of Maussollos.
  • Expanded Space Victory: Winning the race to Alpha Centauri will now require more strategic planning and tactical decision making.
  • Apostolic Palace: The United Nations is available earlier in the game, providing a way to win a diplomatic victory earlier. In addition, new resolutions expand the available diplomatic options.
  • Advanced Starts: A major fan request, this new feature enables players to 'buy' components of a custom-tailored empire and begin play in the later part of the game, allowing one to experience many of the new features of the expansion in a shorter amount of time.
  • Advanced AI: The greatly-enhanced AI now relies more on smart play and less on handicap bonuses to remain competitive, providing a more consistent challenge throughout the course of the game, both economically and militarily. The ways in which the AI attempt to achieve victory have also been expanded.

A great family bonding game

Back then me and my big family of 12 all used to sit around the one computer that we have but this was only at night since we were a active family, but anywho after dinner we all gather in the living room around the computer and launch the Beyond The Sword.

Settings If I recall were
- No Vassals
- 12 players ands 6 ai which makes 18 total
- SmartAI
- Diffculty Deity it was fun xD
- All land map a few lakes here and their
- Smartmap
- Domination Victory
- Random Civs

Luckly I got Isabella, fast foward sometime in the medieval era I declare war on my Brother of Japan ( still has archers xD ) steam rolled through his empire, capturing his cities and eventually wiping him outta of the game. After being conquer he got b***** and pleaded with the rest of the family to conspire against me since I was a big threat which was obivously not true, cause if you look at the scoreboard and minimap it was clearly Gandhi ( AI ) but whatever they all declare war on me and sadly wipe me out ;-;. Yeah I don't remember outta of the 16 civs who won all I remember is, that I was pouting and storm off and decided to skateboard out in my driveway xD

You know you are a addict to civ 4 when you decided to draw a big freaking minimap over your bed all 52 civs or whatever the number is to your map xD

- Brings back memories
- Super addicted
- And my favourtie game of all time

10/10

I played this for almost 2 entire days and while there are a lot of great things about the game, I ultimately uninstalled it. I love the historical feel of the Civ games. I also love the resource gathering and the tech trees. My biggest problem with these games (and Civ IV specifically) is when my Modern Armor unit dies to a Russian Longbowman. I shouldn't be penalized because my civilization advanced faster than someone else's. A modern era tank > anyone carrying a bow and arrow. At that point my immersion was gone and so was the enjoyment.

Sorry, Sid. You got this one wrong.

Favorite game in my library. I never played the original so I can't comment on exactly what is different between this one and the original Civ IV. But it is highly addictive. I will feel as though I have played only 2 hours or so having started at 8pm, I will then look up and see that it is 5:30am and I have to be up by 7am haha.

I love this game so much, so here is a game I once played on Prince difficulty.
4000 B.C.
We, the Carthaginian peoples, have fought for many decades now. However, I, Hannibal, has risen to command a group of settlers, they wish to not fight, but live. We set out tomorrow for new lands, ones untouched by the others.
We wish to settle,
we wish to build a Civilization.
3000 B.C.
We have settled many cities, 3, in fact.
One has built up its infrastructure, one has built an army, and the other gathers foods for our cities.
We have met a new people, they call themselves "Greeks". We otherwise do not know much about them.
We also have created a system of writing and mathematics.
Our people have entered in a new era of learning.
1500 B.C.
We have now created a naval empire, spanning the globe.
Trading has opened up with many other peoples.
Our allies have created the seafaring league, made up of the Sumerians, the Greeks, and the new people, The Franks.
The culture of our people is growing every day.
500 B.C.
We are facing crisis now.
The city of Carthage is under siege by the rebellion.
We are weak, so the Sumerians have invaded.
The Greeks and Franks are now meeting eachother on the battlefield.
200 B.C.
The Carthaginian army now stands at the city of Ur, ready to fight.
What once was an empire forged by trading and peace, now stands as a military nation controlling the oceans.
0 A.D.
We won, and we have an empire.
Our cities grow in power and size, and we have created large wonders for all to be in awe for.
500 A.D.
We yet again face crisis.
The Franks, now in a nation called "France", have invaded and took many frontier cities.
We have lost overall about 28% of our power.
Yet we still hold the holy land of Hinduism, and that is their religon.
However we have long since abondoned the days of multiple gods, we believe in one god.
1500 A.D.
Legends tell of another land, we have set out on a journey to find it.

1791 A.D.
We have won,
Democratic voting last year elected me as world leader.
I, Hannibal the 124th, will be elected tomorrow.
I have completed the vision of my fathers and their fathers before them.
I have built a civilization to stand the test of time.

10/10 favorite game ever.
(Maybe until civ 6)

It's like Civ 5 except you can increase the size of your army.

Also, in case you're reading the loading "tips":
Always use 50 units when 15 should do.
Always fight land wars in Asia (and everywhere else).
Snacks are good in moderation, but better in excess.

Built libraries before developing an alphabet.
Trained a light machine gun unit in 1776.

This is the best game in the entire catalogue of Sid Meier's Civilization, including the newer games Civ5 and Beyond Earth.

The attention to detail is far better in Civ4 than the newer games. The developers got a big head after the success of this game, and the newer games are just fancy revenue-generators. $$$

Civ4 is the quality game in the series. My favorite parts of Civ4 are A: The amazing soundtrack B: The voice of Leonard Nimoy.

Yes, Mr. Spock himself narrates your gameplay (singleplayer only).

*Thinks about going to bed early
*Sits in front of PC

Still playing this after so many years, I could never get into the '1 army per resource' of Civ 5 so stayed with Civ4 which has a vibrant Mod scene.
I highly recommend the civ fanatics website and in particular the caveman to cosmos mod here http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=449
