EVE ONLINE: CITADEL TO BE RELEASED ON 2016/04/27

After an incredible Fanfest here in Reykjavik, we are happy to announce that EVE Online: Citadel will be released during an extended downtime on Wednesday, April 27th 2016.

Downtime will begin at the usual time of 11:00 UTC and will last for a total of 120 minutes, ending at 13:00 UTC. At this point we expect Tranquility to be back online and accepting connections, ushering in a new era for capsuleer empire building in New Eden.

EVE Online: Citadel brings a whole host of new features to the world of New Eden, including new Citadel class structures and new structure assault mechanics to go with them, along with new Force Auxiliary class capital ships, a rebalance of capitals and super capitals, new doomsdays and anti-subcapital weapons, more visual feedback in combat notifications, improved station hangar visuals, structure fitting, a whole host of optimizations and fixes, as well as the illustrious Palatine Keepstar.

You can read more about these features on the EVE Updates website, and you can also take a look at the patch notes here.

In addition to this, head on over to youtube to check out our brand new trailer for EVE Online: Citadel, and the full music video for the trailer's soundtrack, "Bring On The Wrecking Machine".

New Character Backgrounds For Citadel & #WorldWarBe

(Left to right - The Imperium, Upwell Consortium & Moneybadger Coalition portrait backgrounds)

The Imperium image above is replaced by

During downtime yesterday (2016-04-05), two new character portrait background images came in a small release that can be used by the opposing factions of World War Bee to have a distinguishable identity within their character portrait.

Additionally we added an Upwell themed portrait background image to support the upcoming Citadel release. Show your loyalty with a themed background on your character portrait!

If you're not sure on how to update your character portrait background, you can follow these simple steps:

Updating your portrait background:

Firstly, you'll need to be docked in a station. In station, you can find the character customization button in the station information panel on the right of your screen. It looks like this:

Click it, and you'll be taken into the character customization window, the same as you see on character creation.

Here you can change apparel, hair and other aspects of your character's appearance.

Once you're happy, click "Next" in the bottom right of the screen:

From there, you'll be taken to the posing screen, where you can select the new character portrait background from the scrolling list in the top right of the screen:

Find the correct one in the list, choose your allegiance, and when you're happy with your portrait, you can click "Finalize" in the bottom right of the screen:

Your character portrait will re-render and you'll be taken back to your station hangar.

Please be aware that your new portrait may take several hours to be viewable to everyone!

When a player quits EVE and goes to WoW, the average IQ in both games increases.

Ok so this will quite possibly be the most accurate review of EVE online. If you like fishing in real life you will like this game....No seriously I'm not joking. You wait long hours fulll of nothing or just talking to buddys then something happens, It might be exciting as pvp(aka catching a fish) or a as brain numbing as mining (aka more sitting while waiting for something else more exciting). But it'll eventually happen if you hate fishing....avoid this game. I know this is the stupidest review ever but you know I sadly found many who agree with me on this is rather accurate anology of EVE so I'm putting it up. I for one actually like fishing so back to the space lanes for me. Fly safe o7

As much fun as this game could have. It has no sense of community and encourages backstabbing. If that appeals to you then all the power to you. If getting crapped on by russians all day is your thing then head on down to null sec.

Overall, at times i miss it, but then i remember how its impossible to enjoy if you arent part of the biggest groups or willing to be a jerk.
