New Character Backgrounds For Citadel & #WorldWarBe

(Left to right - The Imperium, Upwell Consortium & Moneybadger Coalition portrait backgrounds)

The Imperium image above is replaced by

During downtime yesterday (2016-04-05), two new character portrait background images came in a small release that can be used by the opposing factions of World War Bee to have a distinguishable identity within their character portrait.

Additionally we added an Upwell themed portrait background image to support the upcoming Citadel release. Show your loyalty with a themed background on your character portrait!

If you're not sure on how to update your character portrait background, you can follow these simple steps:

Updating your portrait background:

Firstly, you'll need to be docked in a station. In station, you can find the character customization button in the station information panel on the right of your screen. It looks like this:

Click it, and you'll be taken into the character customization window, the same as you see on character creation.

Here you can change apparel, hair and other aspects of your character's appearance.

Once you're happy, click "Next" in the bottom right of the screen:

From there, you'll be taken to the posing screen, where you can select the new character portrait background from the scrolling list in the top right of the screen:

Find the correct one in the list, choose your allegiance, and when you're happy with your portrait, you can click "Finalize" in the bottom right of the screen:

Your character portrait will re-render and you'll be taken back to your station hangar.

Please be aware that your new portrait may take several hours to be viewable to everyone!

Hehe, a review for EVE. Where to begin?..........To be honest, there isn't a good place to start. The game is huge. The amount of things you can do are almost endless. Wanna go inside a wormhole and take your luck against the rats? Good luck. Go exploring in uncharted space? sure. Attend a high pitched battle consisting of 700 odd players because someone threw a fit over rights to a moon? If you're in the right alliance, go right ahead.
In the 13 years that EVE has been around, players have made history in the world of gaming, from the largest battle ever created, to some jackass diverting a force three times the size of his own in order to save a 4,000$ titan. The reason why these things happen is because of the complexity of the game. There are a 150 odd ships to choose from, hundreds of ways to fit each one, and the best part is, they're diverse. There're mining ships, ratting ships, PVP, exploration, capitals, and each one is bonused towards it's intended role. There's politics that affect each player. Recently there was (and still is) a war between an alliance called goonswarm and thier allies, and everyone else. The npc empire Amarr just hosted games in an effort to find the next heir to the throne, after their empress got killed by enemy ships. What I'm trying to say is that EVE is essentially a living, breathing universe. There is absolutely no reason why you'd get bored.
Alright, so are there some negatives? Yeah, a few, at least in my opinion. First things first, the learning curve is steep. Like, Mt. Everest steep. It might take a few days to get the hang of it, but there're people that'll help you. There's a help channel where your questions will be answered. That's probably the greatest thing about eve: the community is the most mature audiance I've ever been a part of. Another negative is the fact that you have to have certain skills to operate certain ships/moudules. All told, EVE has about 20 years (give or take) worth of skills. It'll limit you in the early stages of the game. Not by a lot, but it will.
Overall, this game is outstanding. There is no other game like it. Elite Dangerous doesn't even come close. If you can afford 15 dollars a month, I'd recommend it. Also, don't forget the 14 day free trial.

I recommend this game and have a lot of fun playing it, but I never noticed it was a subscribption game... As a beginner I can't pay to play the game with in game money (it's a lot of the in game currency). I'm also only 14 so I have no reliable source of income (I do odd jobs when I can) and can't afford to spend the 10 a month to play it (and I think you have to pay the 120 at once...). But the game is fun and if you can afford it I highly recommend it.

I had an argument with a friend, later that day he gifted me EVE. I understood our friendship was over.

I gifted EVE to a sick guy to entertain him and help easing his pain. Now he's threatening to kill me.

I called the suicide hotline after playing EVE and listening to its soundtrack. They told me to go ahead and do it.

This game is full of sadistic old players who prey on new players. Even the new players who have an assault frigate prey on other new players. If you can survive and make some money, you can umm .. become a wage slave I guess :/
Anyways, just don't buy this game, let the no life sadists prey on each other

This is the best MMO available for people who are not looking to be handheld and ushered through endless tutorials and boring-♥♥♥ "Go kill this thing 20 times, then return and claim your reward" quests only to end up pressing 1,2,3,4,5 on the hotbar for the rest of the game while you grind your daily quests and raid your bosses.

700+ hours played.
Can with confidence say this is the best MMO I have played and probably ever will play by a huge margin.

As of right now, April 2016, there is a big conflict in Null Security space. Alliances on both sides of this conflict are currently recruiting a lot of new players into their ranks, so if you ever wanted to try EVE Online out; Now might be the best time to do so.

I'd recommend any new player to get a free trail before buying the game. You can get a 14-Day trail on the EVE Online website, or you can head over to my profile and click the link in the profile description for a 21-Day trail. If you like the game you can simply subscribe to it at the end of the trail, and if you do, make sure to contact me on steam with your in-game name and I'll share a good amount of ISK (In-game currency) with you! :)

EVE Online is a very time consuming game but it can be very rewarding as well, depending on what you do with your time in-game. It has been said many times before but still rings true: The game is only as boring as you make it. It's a sandbox game and therefore very open-ended, it doesn't hold your hand after you're done with the tutorial.

I'd recommend you head over and do the career agents after the tutorial. It'll give you free ships, skillbooks and items to get you started. It also provides you with a small taste of the things you can do in-game like; Mining, industry, Missions and exploration.

For a new player I'd recommend doing exploration to get ISK. It is very profitable in low sec. and null sec. and definetly better than mining. I would also recommend you to find a corporation (Guild) that is 'newbro' friendly. Playing EVE solo is possible, but more likely to burn you out before you get into the game, joining a corp. that has a like-minded playstyle will increase your enjoyment and let you learn from more experienced players at the same time.

One last thing: You are never truly safe in this game unless you are docked. You can be killed at any time, anywhere. I'm not trying to scare you away from the game, chances are you won't be ganked until you are several months into the game. I just want you to understand that you should NEVER fly anything you can not afford to lose. It should be obvious, but some people still do and then complain about it, don't be that guy.

If you didn't know it already, you lose your ship and everything on it once you get killed. That includes cargo as well, so don't move anything extremely expensive.

EVE Online is a game that requires time to learn and patience to master, hope to see you in-game! o7

TL;DR The game is what you make of it. Everyone has a different experience with it.

EVE Online is a bit like life: It's boring most of the time, can be exciting if you take risks, and everything you do has consequences on the people around you.

It's definitely not for everyone, but I'm glad it exists.

~ EVE is what you make of it; patience is required.
~ 1+1=2 so you don't need spreadsheets.
~ Only fly what you can afford to lose!
~ Never haul PLEX in your ship!
~ In-game scamming is legal, trust no one.
~ Mining is boring.
~ Train for LVL5 Cruisers.
~ Join a nullsec corp and leave highsec ASAP!

10/10 Here's your Rubik's cube, enjoy the cluster****

EVE Online is, in my honest opinion, the only MMO truly worthy of consideration.

The problem with other MMOs is, players have no real, long-lasting impact on the game world. That boss you just killed? He's going to respawn in 2 minutes to allow for the next group of players to complete that quest. And so most MMOs are a tedious grindfest of fetch quests and uninspired raids in which every player is but a puppet in a world devoid of life, just running around on endless errands that go nowhere.

EVE is not like that.

EVE isn't a game: it's a sandbox. A hypercapitalist simulator. The players make the rules, they enforce them, and they break them. The consequences are real. Mistakes are costly, and death is permanent. The learning curve is steep. Very, very steep: more than 300 hours in, I still feel like a noob. But whether I'm mining on my own in a low-security area of space, or exploring a wormhole in search of a quick buck, or speculating on the commodity market, or trying to gain some notoriety in a remote outpost along with a rabble of scoundrels, I know that danger is lurking around the corner, and that I can't afford to let my guard down.

The friends you make in EVE are real friends. The ships and cargo you lose are worth real money.
But like a wasp in a hive, you feel like you contribute to the collective. And while a single wasp sting is only a warning, the swarm is a sight to behold.

Eve online is an mmorpg that is brutal to any beginner with no knowledge of the game. Achieving anything in this game will suck up a large portion of your time whilst delivering only meagre satisfaction. The community is full of backstabbing people who lurk at every oppurtinity to kill and rob you, if its profitable for them. The 'leveling' system in this game consists of researching certain subjects which is done in real time; meaning it can take up to a month or even longer for you to progress in any meaningful way. Some even say you're better off spending your first year of eve solely researching to progress to a level where you can be reasonably effective.

You can spend most of your time in this game without ever talking to another player and this is a multiplayer game. People will encourage you to join a coorporation, but that will suck up even more time off of your life since you're expected to be online often.
