Share Your Stories - We Want You!

Here at CCP, we’ve been looking at many different ways to raise awareness of EVE Online and promote New Eden to a wider audience.

After the success we’ve seen over the course of the last couple of years with additional coverage of Fanfest and the amazing player gatherings that you all host, plus community focused marketing such as This is EVE, This is Fanfest and some of the amazing videos that have been put together by the community, we’d like to continue on the path of showcasing the creativity, ingenuity, diversity and dedication of our pilots.

In short, for our next campaign, we want YOU!

We’re looking for EVE players who want to take part in filming, where you’ll talk about your EVE experiences and stories. We’d like to hear more about your escapades over the years, and the shenanigans you’ve experienced as a part of what is by far the best and closest knit community in online gaming.

Those who want to take part may need to make an overnight stay in our filming locations, and of course any costs for travel and accommodation will of be covered by CCP for those who are selected to tell their stories, with a few in game goodies thrown in as a thank you for dedicating even more of your time to taking part.

At this time, we’re pretty flexible on the dates that we’ll be filming, so we’ll be looking to see what kind of suggestions for stories are submitted, and will arrange filming and locations with people on an individual basis.

If you’d like to take part in this project, here’s what we’ll need from you!

  • Email address
  • Your full name
  • Where you’re located
  • Who you fly with
  • Your favorite ship
  • How long you’ve been playing
  • Details of your main activity in game

You’ll also need to include a brief “Video selfie”, no more than a few minutes where you can introduce yourself and talk about an EVE related story that has particular meaning to you, along with a little on how you’d describe EVE to a new player to encourage them to sign up and fly with you.

If you’d like to be considered to take part in this, we’ll need a submission from you before August 1st, 2016.

You can submit your details, along with your video by filling in this handy survey!

We're looking forward to hearing from you!

EVE Online has been my favourite game for years now, my steam hours aren't all of my playtime as I played through a seperate client before I bought it on steam to support the creators even more, because well, they deserve it.

It's a well-polished space pirate MMO, the career mission's and opportunities that act as the tutorial for the game couldn't have been better than what they were although it is a lot of text to read early on for new comers and can be very overwhelming which could be extinguished by just voice acting.

After the "tutorial" you should find yourself with a variety of ships and modules to start you off playing through the game which not a lot of MMO's do, they just give you a class and basic gear and send you off but Eve Online leaves you a huge insight into the ships and modules and their uses and gives you time to learn the in's and out's of the game, including it's well-known market.

Overall, I recommend this game to people who want a MMO that will keep them busy, try out the free trial first before buying a subscription though as that will be more than enough time for you to know if this is the game for you or not.

amazing game, it has a few bugs but i noticed that if you play the game directly and don't use steam most of the bugs go away. you can setup a eve login direct on thier website and then go to your program files to get the direct open link then use the login you link to your steam account on eveonline.com
i am over 30 and have kids but so does most of the people that play eve. It is not a game dominated by little teeny boppers trying to act cool, it requires brains, it is by far one of the most difficult mmo's to learn which is great again as it deters little kids from playing. I will play sometimes 10-20 minutes a day or 12+ hours and it never gets old. This coming from someone that normally hates playing the same game week in and out. The "corporations" can't screw you by kicking you as all your assets stay yours and corps are kick hungry as they need the pilots to be sucessful. Unlike other games where if you farm alot the "tribe" will kick you to keep the resources for themselves.

The only game of its kind currently out there, loved it so much and it's amazing community. Incredible game that's standing steadily for 12 years and going. Only downside is I greatly disagree with monthly payment and I am sure this game would gather more fans and have a larger community if it was just a one time payment. I once played the game couple of years back and the monthly payments were alright for the time, but in these times, I would not say it's worth it. All in all, if you don't care about cash, sure, go ahead, smack that purchase button hard! Very hard!

The level of freedom in this game is so high that I'm guessing even Milton Friedman and Ayn Rand would've been a bit frightened by it. But there are excellent introductory missions that will set you on the right path. So far, I'm thoroughly enjoying EVE.

I bought this game, played around 20 minutes, quit, and came back after about a month. Then I found out that I need to purchase a separate subscription. Thankfully, I bought this game when it was on sale, so I didn't lose much.

i really hate doing this. i really thought this was my favorite game, because it is a GOOD GAME. im not rating it down because its bad. it just... doesnt feel satisfying. i never feel a sense of progression. even after getting my raven, i felt like a defenseless noobie. i was always on edge, reluctant to approach other people or mine in certain asteroid fields due to the fear that hours and hours, even weeks or MONTHS worth of gameplay can be lost because of some jerk that wants to take your stuff. if you really like that kind of game, by all means go ahead. but its hard for me to get invested in a game with that kind of community.

i even thought adventuring to nullsec would be extraordinary and fantastical, but even that disappointed me. its just like highsec, except its filled with more jerks. i have to end up venturing through nullsec space at 3 in the morning to avoid all the people who get their income from spamming bubbles at warpgates and trapping those that just want to reach their destination. i thought i was enjoying this game, really. it only took me a while to realize i actually started to feel depressed, logging in less and less often to the point where its been almost a month since i last played. my plex is about to run out, and i spent these past 2 weeks enjoying other games with friends. i do not regret that, as it gave me plenty of time to shake off the anxiety that eve online gave me.

EDIT: playing eve is like living in a crackhouse and holding up a neon lit sign that says "if you stab me in the face, you may or may not find dope on my corpse"

i will give crackhouses some credit since they dont seem to be killing each other as often.

SUPER EDIT: the party seems to be in the comments section. chex mix and hawaiian punch for everyone!

EVE Online is my longest running MMO, a sandbox which allows you the means to build great stories. This is a game of endurance and perseverance, as there will be good times and bad times. A realistic Sci-Fi simulator/part social experiment. Is this a good game yes? Will the game be fun all the time? No. But you suck it up and move on.

DON'T GET THIS GAME ON STEAM. Having your account permantly linked on steam is a pain in the ♥♥♥. Just go on amazon or other registered sites to buy a subscription.

Going into Eve you have to understand it's not just another videogame, it's truly a hobby.

Here are some things I can clear up for players.
-------------------------------------------------
Eve uses a skill queue to train skills rather than the traditional leveling. You simply put in the skills you want to train and let time do it's thing. The skill queue is now 1 year long or 50 skills in total. Generally you're going to fill out 50 skills rather than 1 year. There are now things called skill injectors and extractors that allow you to inject skillpoints to learn the skill faster. You can either purchase an injector from the market or another player, or if you make an oopsies you can buy an extractor (which is cheaper) extract the skill points and put them into more useful skills. More on these later.

For a while now there is a system called PLEX, also known as a pilots license extension which is an ingame item that you can use to add a month to your game time. This item can be bought with real money ($20) or with ingame money (ISK) at fluctuating prices. The game's market is completely open to manipulation, but a PLEX is roughly around 800m-1b ISK. If you purchase with real money you may sell it on the market to gain a quick sum of cash, or you can purchase it with in game money to extend your subscription. There are NO ways to take ISK and turn it to real money without breaking rules or laws. Many people who don't play Eve consider this "Pay 2 Win" but even if you buy the biggest ships on the market you can easily get killed by someone flying something like a frigate which is the smallest.

On top of this there's a in game store as well. You can purchase Aurum, the premium currency, to purchase strictly cosmetics, an item that allows you to multi train characters (you can have 3 in total) for a month, or purchase the previous said skill extractors. However ALL OF THESE THINGS CAN BE BOUGHT WITH THE STANDARD CURRENCY. This simply just boosts the Eve economy further.
-------------------------------------------------

I'm going to reccomend all new players to right away find a high-sec corp and learn the ropes. Eve is a complicated game and will take many hours to understand, however once you have a good idea on how the game works you will have the most fun playing a game ever.

Like I previously stated too, don't but this game on Steam, I bought an extra account to use on here and it was a complete pain in the ♥♥♥ to manage. Fly safe 07

arg! the damn monthly fees realy add up, probably spent a couple hundred on this game, and only earned a few plex on my own,,, I'de say you aint gunna play for pay, unless your willing to spend about 30 - 40 hours a week after a year of paying... contrary to what the comunity will have you believe,,, perhaps a few hours less if you spend all of your play time on team speak, slaving away for some guild...
