12,000 Downloads!

Thanks to your wonderful support, the 4 for the Money Demo just hit 12,000 downloads! Thanks for playing and sharing 4 for the Money!

We've been working on a big Valentine's Day update that will add a lot to the single-player aspect of 4 for the Money. The update will feature more story-driven gameplay to help players to get to know the characters personalities and skills. The main focus is on better pacing to help players getting into 4 for the Money. We're about halfway through a new set of levels that will give players a slower start with 1-on-1 time with each character. Each character will have a full level set dedicated to them. After playing a character for 20 minutes or so, players should be pretty familiar with the abilities and color compatibility of that character. Once each character is familiar, the game will begin focusing on the more intricate gameplay elements like character swapping. The update will drastically lengthen the single-player mode.

Thank you so much for putting your faith into 4 for the Money!

Difficulty Options Update (among other things)

We just launched a a pretty big update, the biggest parts of which were 1) now fully functional checkpoints, 2) "Restart" options from the pause menu and game over screen, 3) More options for "Damage Received" on the difficulty level screen

Here's the full list:

-Checkpoints fully functional
-Added more difficulty options for damage received, up to one-hit deaths
-Re-scaled the difficulty levels. In general, everything is about 10 points higher and the max difficulty is much higher with the new options (although this will still change with further updates) .
-"Restart Level" and "Restart at Checkpoint" now options in the pause menu
-"Restart Level" now an option on the Game Over Screen

-Clubbot health reduced by 30%.
-Fixed Clubbot walk animation near players.
-Clubbot now has a longer tell.
-Clubbot no longer interrupts attacks by any means (except when destroyed).
-Guards jump outward away from walls when cornered, and bug fixed where they would stay in the standing animation while jumping.

-Fixed a bug where players would jump immediately if the jump button is held and they reach a platform at the peak of a jump.
-When playing 1-2 player, Red now gets her air dash back when Yellow jumps on an enemy.
-Fixed a bug where Red would rarely get stuck if sliding under a narrow passage and at the end of her slide.
-Fixed a bug where enemies would continue to flash well after taking damage.
-Fixed a bug where holding pause to skip the intro scene, then continuing to hold it into the first area would pause as soon as the game began.
-Various other minor tweaks and bug fixes

$500 Cash Prize Competition

We're holding a $500 cash prize competition for 4 for the Money on Friday, 1/26 through Monday, 1/29! Full details here: http://steamcommunity.com/…/anno…/detail/1666763438077060560

About This Game

4 for the Money is an 8-bit, action-packed platformer for 1-4 players. Join 4 anti-heroes in a heist against a corrupt organization in this demo showcasing the gameplay and banter of the 4 for the Money Kickstarter project, open January 11th through February 24th, 2018.

4 for the Money features separate level designs for the single and multiplayer modes, making for intense action whichever way you play. Play alone for rapid role-swapping action to overcome an onslaught of vicious robots, puzzles and big bosses. Or team up for outrageous teamwork that will leave friends and family laughing, shouting, throwing controls and everything else that makes for memorable co-op!

There are no heroes here! The unique color system requires the whole team to be on their A-game, using their mobility and skills to cover each other as greater challenges and enemies loom. Player characters feature exclusive colors that create a niche within the team where only they can succeed. Will you choose weapon versatility, aerial movement, or maybe body the opposition as the team shield?

4 for the Money features dynamic difficulty settings, allowing players to customize the difficulty. With 8 customizable difficulty variables including varying level designs, enemy health, damage received and checkpoint frequency, casual and hardcore players alike will enjoy the action, even while playing together. Your team can make the game ridiculously easy, or impossibly hard, or anywhere in between!

The 4 for the Money experience climaxes as the colorful characters and detailed, parallaxed backgrounds meet with snoopy, retro music from renowned indie game composer Souleye (VVVVVV).

So call some friends and get your gadgets around. You've got a big job tonight...
