"My video is way out of date on this one but CS remains an extremely popular multiplayer shooter for a very good reason. Nothing beats the tension."

About This Game

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 14 years ago.

CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.

"Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999," said Doug Lombardi at Valve. "For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS' award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac."

My first encounter with this game was when I went to my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a friends house whose name was Richard. He was a little lethargic ♥♥♥♥ who ♥♥♥♥♥ed about the most trivial and minute details in the most abstract ways. This was very prevalent during counter strike Global Offensive. While I watched him attempt to sear his balls with a cast iron skillet after playing this ♥♥♥♥ up of a game I thought "Oh what the ♥♥♥♥, I enjoy dipping my balls in canola oil to get a deep fry so might as well buy this." Suffering from erectile dysfunction and tiny ♥♥♥♥ syndrome, I decided to waste my money on a game that basically monetizes the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything. My kind of game right! First game I played, I felt a third testicle forming in the crest of my stomach but soon realized that it was just a gasteric bypass. At the end of the game, basically on the verge of suicide, I decided that I'd give the skin thing a go and bought only a few cases. I soon realized how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and unforgiving this game was for wasting your money on a ♥♥♥♥ RNG mode like this. After taking what it seemed to be three months to get ten wins on competitive I found my self being ranked Silver 1 which gave me another great reason to end my miserable and seemingly endless life. I decided to take a hiatus from the game for about a year until a long, tan, and handsome gentleman introduced me back into the loneliness of this game. During a day of testing in school, I was in my engineering teachers room by the name of Shaun Dugan when the handsome beast walked into the room quite suave a may say. We whipped open his backpack and pulled out his custom mouse that was only used for cs:go. We set up two ♥♥♥♥♥♥ desktops with steam and downloaded this game which took eons. Finally, we turned the settings down to basically something blind people see and started playing one v ones. This ♥♥♥♥ing ♥♥♥♥ ass in my class thought he was the ♥♥♥♥ when he hit me with a jump shot and put me in the never ending pit I had already dug myself into about a year ago. About two months after this satisfying, yet irritating experience, I decided to give it a try one more time on my brothers laptop while he was away on vacation with his girlfriend. When I was done closing down all of the porn websites and signed into my steam account, I saw the elegant and beautiful name of the game sitting in my library like a virgin waiting to get her ♥♥♥♥♥ pounded. I launched the game and found myself in my embarrassing inventory sifting through the garbage skins and cases that I wasted my time with. Instantaneously, I messaged one of my friends asking him if he wanted to play. He was busy at the moment so I tried to load up a competitive game but sat there dumbfounded as it continued to say I had to be a level 2. I was thrown off, confused, why the ♥♥♥♥ would they make me level up to play competitive. Am I a slave to this method, a conformist you might say, a young kid trying to please the bullies at his school...yes, I am. I played a few games with some old friends and found myself where I left off a year ago...♥♥♥♥♥ier than ever. I could barely kill and player and freaked out when I was one tapped by a ♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥ glock. I felt like punching the laptop in front of me a driving a car into a nearby elementary school. Luckily, I kept calm and continued to play to find myself getting better and better. Finally, it was time to play competitive where the meticulous and artificial talent play to try and find a safe haven from the real world. Racist taunts and profanitites spew all over the chat while a fourteen year old who can barely shoot and awp yells at you because you didn't rush B bombsite with him. In order to get my rank, I had to play one game with my friends who were gold novas. It was quite a challenge but we ended up getting the win and my rank was displayed to the unknown, the randoms. I was a silver 1 yet again, but I held this title as more of a challenge, something to throw off the players I go against and make them feel the advantage is theirs. This was last friday when I achieved this rank and after winning almost fifteen matches in a row, I am still a silver 1 and will continue to be one. I have been the number one player for most of the games with the occasional third or second. Each game was filled mostly with the monotony of the real world with mixes of nonconformity and the effervessence of enjoyment. I too was enjoying myself to the point I would be laughing out loud late at night while my friends harassed the player on our team. I was starting to have fun on a game that drove me insane with anger each time I was killed. I still have moments of spite and hatred for this game when my shots don't hit for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t reason or some ♥♥♥ boy is sitting in a corner with a gold platted ♥♥♥♥♥ stuck up his ♥♥♥, but when I have an ambition to do well and I achieve this ambitious goal ahead of me, I find myself getting this euphoria-like high. All of the pessimistic thoughts and cynicality of the normal world fade away and become replaced with optimism from the few that can feel this way. The vast amounts of hatred spewed across the internet about this game has given me the prejudice thought that this game will be worse than a prom night dumpster baby but in all actuality, this game is like a baby that has been dumped in a trash can, thrown in the middle of the street, ran over by fifteen cars, and is finally taken to the local dump. Dead and looks like a mosaic of blood. ♥♥♥♥ Gaben for his monetizing bull ♥♥♥♥ and ♥♥♥♥ the dreadful community. This game is for the weak minded and pieces of ♥♥♥♥ who ♥♥♥♥ at a lunch table hoping someone will be kind enough to sit with them and when they finally do, he pisses them off to the point they want to shoot up the ♥♥♥♥ing school. Thank You Counter Strike: Global Offensive for making me waster almost three days of my precious summer playing this ♥♥♥♥ up of a game. Sincerely, your boy Vladimir Putin's dying step son, Michael Vick.

After playing for nearly 2000 hours, you'd expect I'd be pretty good at this game, but I'm actually bloody awful. A good percentage of the community is too toxic for you to even enjoy playing - and if you get toxic teammates then you've almost definitely lost the game and will probably derank to be surrounded by people who are even more toxic and even less competent.

So why recommend it? It's the best of a worst situation type thing, you see, every game the industry has dropped on us recently has been a down right disappointment so instead of dealing with those games just buy skins. Skins are literally the only reason to play this game :^)

Sometimes the game is fun but that's usually because some ruskis are shouting at eachother instead of shouting at you and you just sit there like "hue ♥♥♥♥ blyat idi nahui silly ruskis :))"

This review is for casual gamers and not competitive gamers.

As a gamer I recommend games that: are fun to play, help relax the mind, tell great stories, make the player philosophy, and aspire challenge. However, I cannot recommend a game when it creates an enviornment that compromoses these principles and fissures our moral codes.

The Worst of CSGO

  1. CSGO has the worst player community on Steam / Reddit
    - It's really no secret just how bad the CSGO community is; The players can be extremely racist, sexist, abusive, vulgar, and obnoxious. The toxicity can be seen in player profiles with racist/sexist/"meme" usernames, avatars, groups, etc.

    - The Steam discussion section and Reddit page aren't any better; it's best to actually avoid any forums that talk about CSGO.

  2. CSGO is plagued with cheaters, griefers, and smurfs
    - This is also a well known issue that has yet to be addressed by Valve. CSGO's competative is swamped with: cheaters who use scripts and cheat engines; griefers who throw games and harass other players; and smurfs who demoralize new players.

    - As of the date of this review (6/16/2016), the Prime Beta is on going. However, it isn't evident if Prime with solve the issue with cheaters and surely won't solve the issue with griefers and smurfs.

  3. CSGO's ranking system is broken
    - If your in any silver rank, you know exactly what im talking about. Valve recently changed the ranking system in order to reduce the number of "Global Elite" ranked players in competative. Unfortunately, their actions also congested the starting competative ranks of silver, making it extremely difficult to rank out of silver, progress in skill, or enjoy competative with people of your same skill level.

-compound this issue with the above problems, and you have CSGO matchmaking in a nutshell.

Conclusion

CSGO is an extremely competative game that throws away common decency for the sake of what some can call "fun". If your a casual gamer or someone who is new to video games, avoid this game completely; This game will be completely frustrating and devoid of fun for casual players and drive away new players from the medium of video games.

- For casual players and new players I would recommend: the Battlefield series, Arma series, DOOM, Chivalry, Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, Sniper Elite series, and / or Overwatch.
