SoR1 had a better art style and soundtrack IMO, but this one is still pretty good.

A year has passed since the defeat of Mr. X and his syndicate, and the vigilante trio of Axel, Adam and Blaze had returned to their normal lives. In what was once a crime infested city, law and order had finally been restored...or so they thought. Returning home from shool, Skate, Adam's younger brother, finds his house in ruin and a picture of Adam chained at the feet of Mr. X. After contacting Axel, he quickly gets a hold of Blaze and his friend Max, the wrestler, for a rescue mission. With Mr. X having retaken the city with his syndicate of criminals, it is up to the 4 of them to rescue Adam, and prevent the city from descending into chaos once more.

Streets of Rage 2 is the second installment of the beat 'em up trilogy, and has changed a lot from the original, offering longer, more interesting and challenging levels, new characters to play as, new enemies and bosses, and also new game mechanics. Having spent a lot of my childhood on this game, it was great to finally play it again after so long. With excellent and nostalgic beat 'em up gameplay that still rivals those of its decendants today, Streets of Rage 2 still offers a fantastic co-op experience that is definitely worth playing.

Pros:
+ Simple controls
+ Local co-op
+ A decent PC port
+ Gamepad support (I used a PS3 controller)
+ A feeling of nostalgia
+ Awesome retro Pixel art graphics
+ Longer levels and better level design
+ New characters, enemies, bosses and weapons
+ Displays enemy health bars and names
+ Special techniques instead of calling in a police car
+ Has a balanced life bar (can take more hits before death)

Cons:
- Too easy to accidentally grab your co-op partner
- When multiple enemies attack you at once, a glitch can occur where you can die almost instantly
- Special moves take away some health
- Grabbing enemies while holding a weapon makes you drop the weapon
- Enemies hide off screen all the time
- May not give you enough time to grab some food before moving to the next scene

I enjoyed this much more than the original streets of rage. They have removed the cool call for back up button and replaced it with a crappy special move that uses up your own health. They have also introduced anoying flying enemies that are really difficult to work out exactly where they are because to the 2.5D graphics. Aside from that it is pretty similar to the original so I can't put my finger on why I liked it so much, perhaps it is because the easy mode is that bit easier so I didn't find it as frustrating. But this is a classic that is well worth a play.

streets of rage 2 is a fighting game from sega and it was good, i havent played the first one but this one is much better than the first and i give this one a 8.9 out of 10
