About This Game

Recettear is the story of an item shop, the girl who lives in it, and the fairy who turned her life upside down. Recette Lemongrass finds herself in charge of an item shop built into her house, in order to pay back a loan her father took and then skipped out on - and Tear, her newfound fairy "companion", won't take no for an answer! As Recette, you have to decide how you'll get your stock - either through playing the markets in town or going out into the wild with an adventuring friend and thrashing beasts until they give up the goodies - how much to sell things for, what the shop should look like, and how to best go about getting the money Tear needs to pay off the loan. If you can't come up with the money... well, hope you like living in a cardboard box.

Key features:

  • Manage all aspects of an item shop – from stock to interior design!
  • Explore randomized dungeons – never quite the same twice!
  • Multiple adventurers to choose from when dungeon-diving – no two play the same!
  • Plenty to do after beating the game – challenge yourself with Survival Mode or play to your heart's delight in Endless Mode!
  • Engaging story, localized by Carpe Fulgur – get to know the people of Pensee!

Interesting game. The actually gameplay is pretty repetetive but it has some funny dialogue and can be challenging. The funnest part is probably finding and gearing up the people in the town that can explore roguelike dungeons. It creates a nice purpose to leveling up your shop and crafting high end items. Its a bit short but unique and worth a play. I'd recommend only to buy it on sale if you are interested.

Takes a fairly standard RPG universe, and aligns it from a very different perspective. The characters are all fun and likeable (besides that one. You'll know the one) and the array of items you acquire to buy and sell all have their own little place in the world just from flavour text, and the story is rewarding to dig into.

The buying and selling mechanics, specifically, are definitely rewarding, and a rather addictive system. The dungeon exploring is less original, and kind only done for its own sake after some early game boosts, though that is where the story is. The more advanced mechanics are where the design falters; crafting requires both grinding and use of a guide to find out what drops what where, and crafted items become obsolete quickly if you have any competence at selling.

Nonetheless, the game's strengths vastly outweigh its flaws, and the game is full of charm, with additional challenge if you're feeling crazy.

This game is absolutely amazing. I Loved every bit of it, in fact I crave more. I have only two complaints and one question. My first compliant is the difficulty. The first and second payment is fairly easy to get, but you start to get big jumps in payments and as a new player the jumps were too much for me to handle. Good news about this though is that the game wlil start you over on the second day and you get to keep all your items and level (you start over with 1,000 pix though). And while this makes you more expirenced the next time around your more likely to win after that, I much rather if they had put the increased time to extend the game. Instead of hte game taking place in just one month why not three? Let the first six payments be easy to pay so you have time to dungeon crawl and explore. I wanted to explore the world more and I wanted to get more content out of the game. Which leads me to the second complaint, it was too short. It wasn't so short that I wouldn't reccommend the game, it's just the game is so good it leaves you wanting more. After beating the game you get endless mode, which allows you to keep going through the game for as long as you want, which allows you see additionial content. You also get survival mode, which is a mode where payments keep increasing until your overwhelmed, I liked how it was introduced at the end of the game too. The one extra mode you get is new game plus, which allows you to keep all your levels and items but still get to start over. The only other thing I can think of that might turn someone away from the game is the launcher, it's more like a visual gameboy advance launcher. I don't entirely understand why that is, but it didn't bother me.

Over all this game left me craving more and wishing they would have had put more content into it. But the content that is there is without a doubt good enough and enough there for me to recommend this game. It is an awesome game that I would reccommend to pretty much anyone, except someone who absolutely hates management games.

You wake up one day to discover your haver has left with nothing but debts. A fairy then proposes to exploit this child and turn the hous into an item shop.

The game works better than expected, but has its flaws. Each day you can either sell stuff (basic haggling involved), buy stuff (no haggling) or pay a hero to explore a dungeon for loot, which you also have to play. This takes time and is not super fun, but all is well unless you actually die: you only get to keep an item, too strong a penalty, and you may only save before entering the dungeon (which are long!)

May be fun if you find it for a good price. Kids may like it too!

"Capitalism, ho!" This is one of those games that you don't understand is great until you play it. I played a fair amount off of Steam despite my hours here, and it's a great "chill out and just play" type of game. If you see it on a Steam sale especially, I would highly recommend picking it up. Devs made a solid experience and it's fun for all ages.

What i get from playing this game :
>Ability to be a judging prick, guessing people's wallet depth based on their appearance
>A passionate hatred toward kids
>A very good slice of life : housewives in quick need of weapons, parents leaving candy as their heirloom, etc

Capitalism Ho!
You befriended with a loan shark and needed to pay up your abandoned father's loan and you got 5 weeks to do so.
You will rip off people so hard that they will just coming back. You will rip off your friends, families, and even a little girl for money.
Women always wanted to buy stuff cheaper then you sell for.
Dungeons is almost 2D zelda like.
Learning supply and demand will help.
Best game to make time flies.

Product received for free
I recieved this game as a gift. I had been wanting it for quite some time. I was not disapointed. As a critic of many games I am pretty picky. I have to give this game 4 and a half stars out of 5.
I am a fan of simulation games. However most games where you run a shop are so shallow, and empty. What I love about this game is you can go out, and find stuff while defeating monsters. It is one step up from Hometown story because of that. Sure Hometown story you can find things, but they are far, and few between. you also dont fight monsters. I enjoy how customisable the shop is. The story line is so enjoyable. This game has intertained me the whole time. Even if you fail paying off a debt, and have to start at day 2 you keep all your levels, and items on hand. I was so greatful for that. I have not come across many bugs. every now and then the game freezes for a minute.

There are few things I would change. However I would like the character to be customisable, and to be able to dress her in differint clothes. maybe as she levels up she gets more options. Hometown story had that option. I understand her name being unchangable.

I do not know if you will make any chages since this game is not new. However if you do make a sequal I will look forward to playing it. I will probably purchase it myself. and hopefully give it 5 stars.
