Ce spun criticii

“I completed the level and was reduced to disturbingly orgasmic cries. I haven’t felt as good with a videogame, in that direct physical way, for quite a while.”
Kieron Gillen, Rock, Paper, Shotgun

“I can't say enough good things about VVVVVV. It's Terry Cavanagh's best game to date, and one of the best platformers I've ever played. If you have any interest in challenging platformers whatsoever, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to pick up VVVVVV.”
10/10 – Anthony Burch, Destructoid

“...it would be wrong to let the sheer fiendishness of Cavanagh’s offering overwhelm any appreciation of the ceaseless elegance of the design.”
8/10 – EDGE

Despre joc

VVVVVV is a retro styled 2D platformer by Terry Cavanagh, creator of dozens of free games. You play as the fearless leader of a team of dimension exploring scientists who inadvertently crash, and are separated. The game involves exploring the strange world you've found yourself in, and reuniting your friends.

VVVVVV explores one simple game mechanic: you cannot jump - instead, you reverse your own gravity at the press of a button. The game focuses on playing with this mechanic in a variety of interesting ways.

The game is designed not to artificially gate your progress. In VVVVVV there are no locks, no power-ups, no switches, nothing to stop you progressing except the challenges themselves.

Key features:

  • Elegant, minimalistic level design.
  • Challenging, fast and fun gameplay.
  • Frequent checkpoints mean you never have to replay challenges you've already beaten.
  • Over half an hour of chiptune music by composer Magnus Pålsson.
  • Special game modes, including time trials and a no death mode.

Great game with great soundtrack.
Controls feel smooth and responsive. Deaths are your fault, not the game.

One major gripe is that there were not many difficult levels. The game as a whole is decently challenging, but there were probably only one or two extremely hard maps.

Challenging without being overly frustrating. Simple yet pleasing graphic style. Short and cheap but well worth the money. What else can I say? If you like puzzle platformers at all, buy it now!

Very frustrating and in a way similar to Super Meat Boy (not really, but it's retro fun with infinite tries), VVVVVV has a very old school soundtrack, graphics and gameplay.

It's all about fun and not about cutscenes, story or polish (not that there's necessarily something wrong with all that). VVVVVV manages like few games to capture that fun element, as long as you have some patience. (I personally like it even more than Super Meat Boy... I think.)
