Dino D-Day v 2.4 update is live!

You may notice a smoother Dino D-Daying experience due to lots of fixes: achievements, holes in maps, medic glows, stability issues, weapon nerfs...just to name a few. Complete Patch notes can be found below.

What’s new? Two new maps are ready to field the battle:

Airstrip: A desperate fight has broken out to control the Axis Zeppelin loading docks and stop the nefarious plan to airlift T.rexes throughout the theater. Some might think it foolhardy to load an enormous dinosaur with guns bolted to its head onto a highly flammable air vehicle, but obviously Germany disagrees. The map is playable as capture point, death match, king of the hill, and survival modes, and does include the playable T.rex.

Ziegenfarm: The Big Three agree that production of Axis goats must be stopped for freedom to truly flourish. Haven't you wondered where all those goats come from? How do dilophasaurs learn to hurtle them with such deadly and comical accuracy? Well, at farms like this one of course. Achieve goat liberation for all goatkind in capture point, death match, king of the hill, and survival modes.

What about that third map? We’re still working on Resistance. It isn’t quite ready yet since it is a bigger map with two specific playable areas: streets and sewers. It is almost two maps in one, and we didn’t want to hold up the update while we finish it. More news about Resistance to come!

Dino D-Day version 2.4 Patch Notes

- Added new map “Ziegenfarm” in Deathmatch, King-of-the-Hill, Capture Points, and Survival mode.
- Added new map “Airstrip” in Deathmatch, King-of-the-Hill, Capture Points, and Survival mode.
- Fixed broken achievements
- Fixed wounded player outline when playing as a medic
- Fixed bug in level changes that sometimes caused it to skip a map in the mapcycle.txt
- Resupply crates now refill armor for Desma, Stygi, and Trigger.
- Fixed client crash related to scoreboard
- Fixed client crash related to weapon selection
- Fixed client crash related to flame entity
- Added sv_maxuptime console variable to engine. Server admins can use this to cause their server to reset after it has been up for a given number of hours. This helps flush memory and reduce crashes. The server will reset when it goes into hibernation. To make use of this feature you will need to launch your server from a batch file so when it closes it automatically is restarted. This variable is set to “0” by default which turns the feature off. Set this variable to whatever number of hours you wish in your server.cfg in order to use it.
- Added missing tokens to survival mode buy menu.
- Minor weapons balance pass. Hardgrave’s Garand and Carbine slight nerf. Grenades damage and radius nerfed.
- Variety of minor gameplay fixes and tweaks.

“Now featuring new maps, modes, and playable thunderlizards we felt Dino D-Day is well worth a second look.”
PC Gamer, January 2012

About This Game

The year is 1942. Adolf Hitler has succeeded in resurrecting dinosaurs. The reptilian horde has trampled Europe and the Mediterranean. Can nothing stop the Nazi’s dinosaur army?
Dino D-Day is a frantic, action-packed multiplayer game that transports you to a World War II that should have been. You and your friends can battle online choosing to serve the cause of the Allied nations or the Nazis. The Allied side includes seven playable characters including Trigger, a Protoceratops rescued from the Nazis. Each Allied class has unique weapons and abilities to use in combat. Gun down a Dilophosaur with your trusty M1 Garand, blast a kamikaze pterosaur out of the sky with your Thompson sub-machine gun, or toss out a dead jackrabbit to lure a raptor into a trap.
As an Axis player you will have your choice of three human classes and four dinosaur classes. Ambush your enemy with speed and stealth as the Raptor, mercilessly pound the enemy with a heavy 20mm gun as the Desmatosuchus, rampage through enemy groups as the Dilophosaur or pick up a body and throw it at an enemy for a double kill! Or if you prefer a rifle in your hand, the German soldier classes are the perfect complement to their dinosaur comrades.
You’ve played World War II games before…but have you played a World War II game with dinosaurs?

Key features:

  • Frantic online multiplayer action involving Nazis and Dinosaurs
  • 7 playable dinosaur classes: Velociraptor, Dilophosaur, Desmatosuchus, Stygimoloch, Trigger the Protoceratops, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Styracosaur.
  • 9 playable human classes
  • 26 classic World War II weapons and plenty of exciting dinosaur attacks!
  • Powered by Valve’s Software’s Source engine – the technology behind such mega-hits as Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Portal, Portal2, Left 4 Dead, and Left 4 Dead 2!

System Requirements

    Minimum:
    • OS: Windows XP/Vista/7
    • Processor: 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 (or higher) or AMD64X2 (or higher)

The game is very good but why it is not popular, I really like it. Dinosaurs, Marines, Germans, weapons and of course goats) particularly liked the fact that the game is for the people talking in the first person and present additional weapons (found in all good games) the Game play))!

Basically TF2 without all the DLC, so it's worth a buy.

A game of truly rough n' tumble skirmishes set in the second world war. Nazis alone don't make for an edgy enough plot anymore, and zombies are a garish pink vibrating strap-on of an angle that's been utterly exhausted. Despite this, it still remains on the throne, an idea selling like hot cakes much like that decayed ol' king from warhammer 40K. So, What's next on the list? Dinosaurs? Sure, why not.

My first impressions are that the game plays rather nicely. Controlling dinosaurs and humans alike feels fairly fluid, though the 'runts' and humans are fixed in first person while the bigger dinosaurs take third. It would be nice to have the choice if there's variation to begin with. So You've got a mix of human and late cretatious characters to play as, and each team has a fairly unique roster to offer. Unfortunately, it's the Axis that are milking this historical re-jigging for it's worth, as they have around six or seven full dino variants to pick from. Allies only have the one, and the rest of your team is comprised of pink-♥♥♥♥♥ honkeys. This alone can sap the joy out of playing as an American, bar the fact the world hates you, but I wouldn't say it presents a significant disadvantage. I suppose there's just no satisfaction in beating on a dinosaur as a dinosaur, but rather playing Godzilla and crushing the fleeing people on a whim. This is presumably why teams are reversed each round.

My main gripe with this game as it stands are the maps. They seem lackluster in design and rather sparse. Vantage points are obvious and don't really appear to be very thought out, and you can't even sling a few shells through glass windows. Overall, the game seems a tad shallow and lacking potential for interesting, engaging tactics. It's a pretty standard formula (often likened to Team Fortress 2) with nothing terribly new to offer.
Nevertheless, I can't say it isn't satisfying to flatten a few yanks using a goat flung from your gargantuan jaws, or with another yank that you'd previously managed to keel over. There's fun to be had in this game for sure, but it's a quick, silly fix of entertainment and not one of any real lasting value. Would I recommend the game? Sure, for a happy drunken hootenanny or something. It's worth a chuckle or two at the least.

Wait for a sale and pick this game up. As weird as it is (Nazzi dinosaurs?), you won't regret it (unless you don't like FPS games). This game has everything TF2 needs: non-annoying player base, everyone has all the gear from the begining, and the developers are deeply involved in the game. That last one is especaly true. My first match resulted in me earning the achievement of killing a developer in online play so I think it is safe to say that the developers care about this game.

Also it runs on the Source Engine so it will run very well on even to most potato of computers.

Crazy concept. World War II. Allies, dinos and mad nazis. Source engine (yeah the same as in CS GO). Iron sights (that thing missing in CS GO). Only a few servers with people playing. Game should be more popular beacuse it is good.

im easy to please.
but this game is just off,
i was completely dissatisfied with the game, i cant remember the last time i felt that way about a game.
either way, to be fair as this is a review of the game and not my tastes:

i can imagine younger players enjoying this.
didnt run into any issues, well made runs on minimal pc requirements.
non stop action, spawn and start shooting opponents within a few seconds.
still a good amount of servers with a good community of players.
none of which i have ever heard talk or type lol.
just a game you can kill time with senseless shooting and running around.
Dodging around and hiding for a few tense moments as you try not to be seen by the T-Rex.

overall; ill have to give it a thumbs up
fun for alot of other people
sadly not in the slightest for me.
