What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want to make a survival game that evolves based on player feedback.
We feel that the genre of game we are trying to make thrives the most in early access.
As we are only two people. We don't want to waste time expanding/polishing features no one cares about.
We would rather focus our energy on the features that really matter to players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately a year, until the third quarter of 2018.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Star Shelter is a "rogue-lite" survival game so the most important "feature" is variation.

We have a goal of adding more spaceships/locations and variations of them.
There are plenty of different room types we plan to add, like: engineer halls, engine rooms, different cockpits and so on.

We plan on adding a larger variation in enemy types.

We plan on adding polish to existing assets. We also expect gameplay balance to change drastically.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We have all the core features/mecanics in place.
The current state of the game is:

  • Procedural world.
  • Survival mechanics of base and self.
  • Scavenging.
  • Crafting/Building.
  • Upgrades.
  • Combat.
  • Zero gravity climbing and thrusters to move around.
  • 2 different enemies.
  • randomly generated spaceships and space stations, with 10 different room types.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to increase the price only once the game is fully released.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're going to use the Steam community forums, Reddit forums and also direct contact through mail.

We plan to update at least once a month and we're going to have an in game countdown for every update.”

About This Game

star Shelter

Star shelter is one of the first VR games with classic survival mechanics. You're stranded in a mysterious graveyard of abandoned ships, the only way out is to repair a broken spaceship.
You have to scavenge for materials and plants to repair and arm your spaceship.

Keep your oxygen, power, and hunger in the green. Grow plants, build solar panels and other objects to generate what you need.
Climb around the zero gravity but don't rely on your thrusters to much, they are fueled by the same oxygen you breathe.

Scavenge the wreckages of spaceships and be wary of hazards.

current Features:

    [/h2]
  • Randomly generated environments and spaceships.

  • Use the crafting to arm and improve your spaceship.

  • Grow plants in your spaceship to generate oxygen and fruit.

  • Voiced AI to guide you and keep you aware of hazards.

  • Destructible/Repairable base, maintaining your spaceship is as important as eating.

  • Innovative UI, interactive holograms to navigate menus/hack, "AR" labels on objects.

  • Shoot down drones and turrets that stand in your way.

  • Classic survival mechanics - Hunger, oxygen, power, sleep.

Roadmap

There's a lot of things still to be added so please let us know what you want us to add or improve upon.
