What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access will allow comments and feedback from users to guide the direction of AliveInVR in its first months of release.

We value user feedback as the most important way to drive the choices made in early release phases.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“After early access releases, it should be in that state no longer than 6-9 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Including features based on user requests during early access. Additional VR platform support.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

  • Session mode - clip triggering and clip colors (reflected from your Ableton Session)
  • Note mode - play drum racks or instruments
  • Mixer mode - control track levels, send and return
  • In game camera to stream to desktop via Spout
  • Choose day, sunset or night mode
  • Low GPU mode
  • Velocity sensitive triggering (can be set to fixed)

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Changes are possible, but it's unlikely that they'll be considerable.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will influence the feature list and development plan. Finding a subset of users as beta testers for new features and additional VR platform support.”

September 15 Released - Eye candy mode, Leap Motion and KB Shortcuts! Released

It's the weekend, time for some new features!

  • Eye candy mode - turn it on in the menu. Note mode creates smoke signals that turn into stars, feel the force when playing instrument notes, see your drum patterns merge with the sky - and a few birds and butterflies.

  • More track name displays - See the current track name when using instruments and drum racks. Track names are shown under mixer tracks and above the track left and track right controls.

  • Keyboard shortcuts for demoing - Ctrl + left/right/up/down arrow for scene and track navigation.
Ctrl + D for day/night modes, Ctrl + Space for re-centering the player. Ctrl + Enter for general reset. Ctrl + W to toggle walking mode. Ctrl + N for clip names, Ctrl + E for Eye candy mode.

  • Blocks fill in note mode when playing - It's much clearer which notes are triggering in Note mode.

  • Leap motion - Experimental Leap motion support. Use pinch with your index finger and thumb to grab items. Use left hand fist forwards and backwards to walk (pretend you're riding a horse!).

September 11 Released - Controls on your hands!

Latest release now live

  • Controls on hand - Display Session, Note controls etc.. on the back of your hand.
  • Steadycam - Moving the camera and mirror is now springy for smooth filming.
  • Fixed a bug where the mixer page would not display properly when a track name has an unusual character in it.

To enable controls on your hands, turn it on in the menu as 'Controls on hand'.

When you look at the back of your hand (like you would a wrist watch), you can access the main controls using the trigger of the other hand. No longer any need to carry the controls around with you. In this mode the controls in the world will be hidden.
