What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Drive Isle is a result of nearly ten years of one person's hobby work. There has been lot of problems and delays in the development, but it's somewhat ready for early access. There is infinite amount of work left to be done, old things to improve and new things to add.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“That is hard to determine, but let's say atleast a year or two.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Overall the game would be in more mature state.
There is lot of improvement to do with the map, adding details etc. This goes for all other parts of the game too.

Some features & content that could be added in the future:
- More vehicles
- More Steam achievements (only few now)
- More language translations
- Steam trading cards
- Map editor for user made maps (Currently too quirky & unstable for public use)
- Multiplayer (very basic system exists but will need more work)
- Other modding support / Steam Workshop
- VR support
- Wearing vehicle parts that would need service (this is not a promise but an years old idea but requires the game otherwise to be in good shape to start focusing on something like this)”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“- Game is glitchy & buggy, may even crash to desktop
- AI traffic is still a bit of a mess (disabled by default)
- Races against AI doesn't work yet (only timeattacks and drifts for now)
- Map overall is still quite undetailed in many places
- Amount of content such as missions, races, vehicle custom parts etc is yet fairly low”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will probably raise as the game gets more mature.”

Numerous bugs have been fixed since release, but others still remain and new ones may pop up with updates. To help to fix problems, please report them and patiently wait for a fix.
If you are more likely to head for a refund instead of reporting & waiting, you may want to consider to purchase the game at some later time.
PC is a very difficult platform because systems differ a lot, some players may experience problems that others don't, at worst they maybe random and not reproducible on the development system. If it's a crash to desktop, sending the crash dump by email will help the most.
