When someone mentions Capcom, Onimusha isn't usually the first game that comes to mind, and i feel like when the Onimusha series was first released on the Playstation 2, they were underrated, but they are actually all brilliant Samurai games, and while this may not be the best port ever, it works and it has nostalgic value. So i love it.

If you've never heard of Onimusha before and are just stumbling upon this game, know that it is a bad port, and you'd be better off just getting a PS2 and playing it on there. BUT, if you've played Onimusha in the past, and put as much time into it as i did, you'll be able to put aside the fact that the port isn't very good, and have fun with this game again.

Edit: Alright, people are being sore about the port now. So i'll say this, READ THE REVIEWS FIRST. There are plenty like mine that clearly state that the port is poor. If you buy the game anyway, knowing that the port is bad, that's your own fault. Like i said, there are people who will buy the game and enjoy it for it's nostalgic value and can get past the bad port. Me being one of them. So i've recommended it. Please don't write reviews butthurt because you bought a game for £3 and didn't like the port.

I'm glad I bought this when it was on sale, becuase this is the worst nostalgia buy I've ever made. I should have looked at the reviews first, because, man, what a disaster. How can you butcher a port this bad? The character models are shot to hell, the resolution is garbage, the controls are never explained and can't be customized, and the whole thing is just a big mess. I'm thankful I only wasted five dollars on this instead of spending the outrageous normal price of twenty. This should be removed.

I have had to work around problems but in the end it was a awesome game, only lacking in story depth at times. The combat was amazing, and there are several ways around a situation, and all are good in certains situations. The game is fast paced when it needs to be and will make you want to lose hours of sleep.

    Changes that I made -

If you use a concole controller such as xbox 360 or playstation it maps out the same as the old controls -
this is needed in some puzzles and the pc controls feel chunky, especially when executing precise actions

Changed my desktop resulotion to 800 by 600:
the game settings are broken with some aspects, one of the settings is meant to increase the screen size, but dosn't, this can be manually worked around with manual resoultion settings (the game will look like it did on the ps2)

The only problems I had is that the audio for ingame has been played around with and it is slightly quiter compared to the music, it also applies to different sides of headphones so it will go quite at times if not using both headphones
also things like detail settings are broken like the colour of blood

If you have a controller, it is a fantastic game :D

Good game & an okay port, defintely worth it if you know to adjust screen resolution, map keys & have a gamepad.

If you are using a keyboard, finding & using combo keys is difficult since the tutorial is pretty much for gamepad users & you can only figure them out using trial & error.(completed the game using keyboard!)

Camera angles looks bad ocassionally-especially around corners.

If you can bear the above you will enjoy the game, for it's gameplay-just like me.

I have this on PS2 as well and loved it. This version, although a bit dated delivers that game fine to PC.

Get this on sale, it's probably not worth the full price. Other than that, it works fine on Windows 7 64-bit - no crashes in 30 hours or so. It has a slight quirk regarding the control scheme (select and start are on left stick and right stick, with nothing assigned to Onimusha mode). Not a big deal for me, I've always used Onimusha mode as a spare life so I don't enter it manually.

Use your GPU control panel to set anti-alias and anisotropic filtering for the game. Play in the highest 4:3 resolution your screen can display, and don't pick the 720p widescreen since it stretches everything (unless that's not a problem for you).

I prefer this to playing on an emulator, emulators have their own set of problems (like interlace mode and choppy sound).

The Onimusha series is one of my most favorite series I have played. The gameplay is brilliant. Although there is not much differents between Onimusha 3: Demon Seige and Onimusha Warlords in the gameplay side of things but still makes for a brilliant game. The only thing that bugs me with the PC version is that it does not tell me the PC controls, it tells me the PS2 controls, this does not bother me to much but for people new to the game it can be a pain. On the other hand great game Capcom and I hope it is not forgoten. 9/10

Love this game. I played it for the first time years ago.

As a PC player I always envied console players for having such games as this.

Game is a littlebit short(cca 10hours) but has great replay value and many secrets to explore.

As most of the older console games this one also utilizes a static camera.

Gameplay can be tricky if you only have a keyboard and mouse(later in the game you will encounter a puzzle that will require from you to copy PS controller inputs and that will be a nightmare)

Would recommed anyone to first try the DEMO before purchase.

Works fine with X360 controller and when running under Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.(Windows 7 64bit)
In time of writing this review I am 10 hours in and did not encounter any glitches/bugs.

i read the reviews, everyones upset about the key bindings and screen size. Full screen is Alt + enter and if you want to play this classic game again, Make sure you have a controller. I'm happy with it, and if you take the time to read the reviews you'll be able to enjoy it aswell.

This is a functional game, but a disappointing port. The options are limited, the textures muddy and the resolution is locked far too low. There is no option in the menus to go full screen, though this can be done by hitting alt+enter as helpfully pointed out by Kevstar1 in the community guides. The keys seemingly can't be re-bound and whilst the 360 controller works there are some funky key binds.

I wasn't expecting much, but resolutions approaching 1920x1200 and the ability to re-bind keys I would have hoped would be standard issue these days. The game is functional, but frankly there are better examples on the market at the moment.

Extremely bad port of a game if you really want to play it go to a vintage game store and buy a ps2 and the game. This would be a lot less headache.

I'll say it straight, I love this game. I've played Onimusha's from 1-3 and Dawn of Dreams and it's by far one of my favourite game series, with Onimusha 3 being arguably the best in the bunch... For the PS2 anyway.

With that said, this port is one of THE worst ports I have ever seen, and because it's a port of a game I really like it just feels like a slap in the face when I play it. The resolution is low by default and can't be changed for anything else but fullscreen (understandable for a game this old, but the fullscreen looks horrible if you have a widescreen), there's no way to rebind the controls (there's a "configure input" selection in the options menu, but it doesn't do anything) and there's no way besides trial and error to tell which keys do what because the game reuses the keymappings from the PS2 version of the game (eg. "push R1+X to fire arrows" or "use the right analog stick to swap targets"... yeah, thanks). It's a downright mess.

If you REALLY need to get this game, if you ABSOLUTELY have to play it, then I suggest getting a PS2 and a copy of this game for that. It may be more expensive, but this port sure isn't helping the situation. I just feel like this PC port shouldn't be played. I mean, ok, some of the issues can be fixed through some complicated file editing or third-party programs, tools etc., but that's not the point. If this was a good port, none of that would be necessary. You should be able to play the game WITHOUT resorting to editing files or completely relying on third-party stuff. And even after you're done with all that complicated stuff, you still need to figure out and memorize the overly complicated and completely bonkers keymappings which, need I remind you, cannot be rebound. Some say that their gamepads work well with the game, while others, including myself, cannot even get the damn thing to work, which means we have to rely on JoyToKey and STILL have to figure out the damn keymapping.

Seriously, that is just way too much stuff to do to actually enjoy a crappy port of a good game. It's just not worth it.
