I have had to work around problems but in the end it was a awesome game, only lacking in story depth at times. The combat was amazing, and there are several ways around a situation, and all are good in certains situations. The game is fast paced when it needs to be and will make you want to lose hours of sleep.

    Changes that I made -

If you use a concole controller such as xbox 360 or playstation it maps out the same as the old controls -
this is needed in some puzzles and the pc controls feel chunky, especially when executing precise actions

Changed my desktop resulotion to 800 by 600:
the game settings are broken with some aspects, one of the settings is meant to increase the screen size, but dosn't, this can be manually worked around with manual resoultion settings (the game will look like it did on the ps2)

The only problems I had is that the audio for ingame has been played around with and it is slightly quiter compared to the music, it also applies to different sides of headphones so it will go quite at times if not using both headphones
also things like detail settings are broken like the colour of blood

If you have a controller, it is a fantastic game :D

Good game & an okay port, defintely worth it if you know to adjust screen resolution, map keys & have a gamepad.

If you are using a keyboard, finding & using combo keys is difficult since the tutorial is pretty much for gamepad users & you can only figure them out using trial & error.(completed the game using keyboard!)

Camera angles looks bad ocassionally-especially around corners.

If you can bear the above you will enjoy the game, for it's gameplay-just like me.

Lazy port, game breaks every time a movie plays, customize imput button does literally nothing. I really liked this game when I first played it in 2004 and was looking forward to reliving those good memories. I am dissapoint.

I have this on PS2 as well and loved it. This version, although a bit dated delivers that game fine to PC.

Get this on sale, it's probably not worth the full price. Other than that, it works fine on Windows 7 64-bit - no crashes in 30 hours or so. It has a slight quirk regarding the control scheme (select and start are on left stick and right stick, with nothing assigned to Onimusha mode). Not a big deal for me, I've always used Onimusha mode as a spare life so I don't enter it manually.

Use your GPU control panel to set anti-alias and anisotropic filtering for the game. Play in the highest 4:3 resolution your screen can display, and don't pick the 720p widescreen since it stretches everything (unless that's not a problem for you).

I prefer this to playing on an emulator, emulators have their own set of problems (like interlace mode and choppy sound).

    improperly ported to steam...
I would have loved to have relived some of the great nostolgia this game has to offer, unfortunately the game breaks during the opening cutscene...

With all of the problems this game has (looking at other reviews), this game should NOT have been ported.
I can only hope that it will be patched / fixed soon and that steam will recognize it's failure to have a higher standard when making games available on it's platform and implements some kind of testing for the future so a blunder like this wont happen again.

When someone mentions Capcom, Onimusha isn't usually the first game that comes to mind, and i feel like when the Onimusha series was first released on the Playstation 2, they were underrated, but they are actually all brilliant Samurai games, and while this may not be the best port ever, it works and it has nostalgic value. So i love it.

If you've never heard of Onimusha before and are just stumbling upon this game, know that it is a bad port, and you'd be better off just getting a PS2 and playing it on there. BUT, if you've played Onimusha in the past, and put as much time into it as i did, you'll be able to put aside the fact that the port isn't very good, and have fun with this game again.

Edit: Alright, people are being sore about the port now. So i'll say this, READ THE REVIEWS FIRST. There are plenty like mine that clearly state that the port is poor. If you buy the game anyway, knowing that the port is bad, that's your own fault. Like i said, there are people who will buy the game and enjoy it for it's nostalgic value and can get past the bad port. Me being one of them. So i've recommended it. Please don't write reviews butthurt because you bought a game for £3 and didn't like the port.

I'm glad I bought this when it was on sale, becuase this is the worst nostalgia buy I've ever made. I should have looked at the reviews first, because, man, what a disaster. How can you butcher a port this bad? The character models are shot to hell, the resolution is garbage, the controls are never explained and can't be customized, and the whole thing is just a big mess. I'm thankful I only wasted five dollars on this instead of spending the outrageous normal price of twenty. This should be removed.

This is a functional game, but a disappointing port. The options are limited, the textures muddy and the resolution is locked far too low. There is no option in the menus to go full screen, though this can be done by hitting alt+enter as helpfully pointed out by Kevstar1 in the community guides. The keys seemingly can't be re-bound and whilst the 360 controller works there are some funky key binds.

I wasn't expecting much, but resolutions approaching 1920x1200 and the ability to re-bind keys I would have hoped would be standard issue these days. The game is functional, but frankly there are better examples on the market at the moment.

I really, REALLY wish that I read the reviews before purchasing this game. Unfortunately, I saw this game and had a flashing desire to grab it up. At the rate of only 4.99 not only did I picture it as a steal but an amazing nostalgia trip back into a game I used to love. This port however is HORRIBLE, the controls cannot be reconfigured. You have to do guess work to figure out the keymapping and since your first chance at this is during a fight scene you spend most of it with Samanosuke getting slapped around by low level zombie samurai like a drunken monkey.

    I second the consensus...
Loved the original. I'm hating this due to the unplayability.
Not worth the 5 bucks I payed.
    I feel robbed.
More then a few suckers like me took the bait.
    DON'T BE NEXT!!!

Man I used to love this, but it hasn't aged well.
Unskippable cutscenes, bizarrely broken option menu, impossibly small game window.
    3/10
    Right in the nostalgia :(

Extremely bad port of a game if you really want to play it go to a vintage game store and buy a ps2 and the game. This would be a lot less headache.

Great game! The port works fine. You can set the resolution up to 1600x1200: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=312828308

People complaining about their xbox controllers not working can gtfo. This game was first and foremost a Playstation 2 game, and if you call yourself a gamer but don't have a PS2-style controller on hand you're doing it wrong. That said, the game runs super smooth and the controls work just fine with a Logitech Dual Action Gamepad.
