ok nere is a new review that is simply how i managed to make the game playable. first here is a controller fix. get ps4 conttoller, and when it asks you to start the game or go to the controller layout iyou go to the controller layout. map all the buttons and save it. thern start the game, that should take care of the controller. next the widescreen issue, press ctrl, alt and enter that should fix the widescreen problem. and that should take care of all the major problems.

Forget it. Can't use a controller properly or play on more than 640x480 without mods, which don't work on all Windows 10 - i.e. not on my setup.

A great game if you want a game that challenges you and lets you fight with style! Challenging but entertaining fights, a combat system that is fun to explore, and an amusing protagonist to join the ride. It's a bit tricky in the beginning, and you may need some time to get into the mechanics, but it feels very good and rewarding once you get going. At the end of levels you can get ranked from D to S on various things, so there's a lot of room to practice your skills. A less good part of the game would be a bit dodgy platforming in some parts, but they are generally far and between.

Oh, and this is not a very good port on it's own. If you want to buy this, remember to download the mod that fixes it up as well!

I loved this game, and if you like Platinum style games you may enjoy it too!

Be aware that controllers only work after some significant .ini tweaking and if you have a Logitec 310 it seems you are out of luck. I strongly sugest reading the pinned forum post. Even if you have a listed controller from that post it is hit and miss.

Given that the entire series is consoland controller based it is downright criminal to release it in this condition. This is not designed for keyboard and while I didn't study the page in depth I didn't realize that controllers would be an issue until I started it up and couldn't play it.

Overall this feels flat out fraud. Valve should be issueing refunds to everyone and banning this product until it notes the substandard controller support front and center or fixes it.

A terrible port for such a good game. Do yourself a favor and buy the HD collection on the consoles... Nuff said.

Trust me, don't get it; even after mods and fixes the game still slows down considerably in combat, which shouldn't even be a thing for such an old game on my PC

I love Devil May Cry 3 and 4, so I snagged this during the big Steam Sale.

I was extremely disappointed to find out that upon starting the game, (which is super tiny by default) despite mashing every key on my keyboard, clicking on the window and hitting every button on my controller, You can NOT skip the intro cutscene.

I also can not close this game out without bringing up my Task Manager which is fun.

The default controls for my gamepad are completely screwed up and totally backwards from the original scheme.

without even going into the game itself, this is one of the most poorly handled ports I've ever seen to the point where it's literally UNPLAYABLE.

Avoid this at all costs and buy DMC4 Special Edition instead.

They want £15.99 for this. £15.99 for a game without an exit option. £15.99 without control pad support - for a game dependent on a control pad. £15.99 for a game labeled "special" - inferior to the base vesion.

£15.99 to get kicked in the teeth.

It's a good game but one of the worst ports I've ever played. If you've got 20 bucks to spare and you want to buy this game go buy it on psn, get a ps2 copy on amazon, or just emulate it and save your money.

NOTICE : THIS REVIEW CONTAINS A CONDITIONAL RECOMMENDATION, THOUGH IS OVERALL NOT RECOMMENDED.

Devil May Cry 3 is a legendary title that defines it's genre. However, the PC port is completely broken, and in it's vanilla state is unplayable. It's a real shame that Capcom has neglected to fix this port or supply some sort of alternative for those who don't have a console or wish to play the game on PC. Devil May Cry 4 has one of the best console ports around, but Devil May Cry 3 might just be one of the worst. For those who have never played DMC3 and wish to, I highly recommend finding another way to play the game, as this version just isn't the way to do it, no matter what you do to it. Now, for those of you who have played DMC3 countless times, and perhaps are fond of DMC4 Dante's style switcher, this version does yield a bit of potential for you. This game can be modded and cleaned up a bit to work a lot better, though still no where near an ideal performance, and also include Dante's style switching mechanic from DMC4 in it. I'd like to stress though, that this is not the way the game was intended to be played, and using the mod does break the challenge of the game somewhat, so like I said earlier, for those of you who have yet to experience DMC3, I highly recommend you avoid this version and play a console port. For those of you who are interested in playing with the possibilites of this port, I'll include a link to the guide showing you how to fix this port up. To sum everything up though, for those of you yet to play this game, do not buy this, play a better version. For those of you like me who have played DMC3 to death and want to play around with it in new ways, grab this when it's cheap, and apply mods to fix it. This is in no way a replacement or the definitive version of Devil May Cry 3, and Capcom really should give us a better port on PC.

This game made a huge impact on my life when i was a kid and made me love action games like i play today. I remember as a child i would constantly get up to beat bloody palace mode, this game would never get old due to it's intense gameplay!

ok, i started to get interested in DMC games, i seriously think this will be a good one, but...
my god the controls... the game is just made like ♥♥♥♥, the cinematics are like 10 FPS, max resolution is 1600 x 1080

literally is just playing DMC 3 but on a PS3 emulator, i know it sounds like a joke, but it isn't

BOY YOU CAN'T EVEN USE THE ♥♥♥♥ING MOUSE

if you buy this, buy it when it's 1 dollar, because you're not going to play it. i better buy this one for my PS3 i'll ask for a refund now
