First thing first - Irecommended this route but with one (erm two) conditions which I'll mentoon at the end. I bought this add-on some time ago and I left it for another occassion - big mistake! Route aged visualy drastically. Of course main locations like Koln or Dusseldorf still looks great rich with deatils but scenery along route is far below today standards, practically no details, building with awful bitmaps, no descent foliage, still some visual bugs at platforms. Also rolling stock is not so good, all models remembers Rail Simulator (or at least first RailWorks), physics are bad or nonexistent, even Aerosoft models got some issues. But no all things are bad, route itself with S-Bahn route, with huge trainyards and two main stations got huge potential, you have possibility to run S-Bahn commuters (sometimes with trainstops no more than 1,5km each from another!), you can wander on vast trainyards, you can run fast Inter Regio or Inter City trains. But to pros overhelm cons there are two conditions to met - first you must buy it on a sale (50% at least) and second you must buy additional rolling stock from virtual railroads. Fantastic BR 143 is on steam but BR 151 with Dostos is only availabile from 3rd party software website.

I bought it after going to Gamescom, but it's very buggy, get Cologne to Koblenz instead, beauiful route.

It's old, short, not very good visually, often crashes to desktop. May be ok at a deeply discounted price, but I would definitely recommend Hamburg-Hanover or even Ruhr-Sieg (despite malfunctioning PZB) over this one.

I completed all 7 scenarios with gold medals in this scenario and I would like to share my thoughts. First of all, buyers should be aware that this Add-On has some bugs like speed limit errors. However I would like to add that the bugs in this Add-On is nothing major, only minor bugs here and there.

Despite the bugs, I really enjoyed playing this DLC. The scenery is beautiful and those who enjoy driving an electric train, this is a must buy.

The route is decent. It is quite detailed and may require more from your system than vanilla Train Sim. My parents had been to Cologne on holiday and they were able to point out their hotel and some other buildings they've visited, so you could argue it's quite accurate to real life.

The low point here are the included trains. The BR 143 used in the S-bahn scenarios specifically. There is no PZB support, instead you get AWS. The sound isn't impressive either. In one scenario, it was always applying a little brake, and I could do nothing to stop that. As a result, I could not pass the scenario on time, as the always active brake limited my max speed to 114 km/h. It was fine in another scenario, featuring the exact same train.

These S-bahn trains use a locomotive on one end, and a carriage with a cab on the other for push-pull operation. However, in the game you can only use the locomotive to pull trains. I'm sure there are addons now that let you do this, but they're not included here.

Get it on sale. Or better yet, get it as part of the "German Collection" pack, which includes another route, Munich-Augsburg, and a bunch of locomotives, at no extra cost. And maybe grab some scenarios off the workshop.

NB: I have not looked at quickdrive. I use the scenario editor.

To sum up: Not worth the full price. The route is good, the included trains are not.

This piece of DLC is done by Aerosoft, Aerosoft is not upgrading this track anymore. This track is utterly bad, track signals are entirely out of place, some are not functional, tracks have speed limit errors, Quick Drive is entirely useless on this map because when attempting to start a session the train is set revers towards the end of the map and it's just utterly unplayable and feels bland.

I rate this track 0 out of 10. [Do not buy!]

Upon the discovery of an update from rail-work.de, I managed to get the quick drive up and working perfecty on the fast and slow lane of the track, it is pretty nice this way to be honest, that scenario fixed all the issues I've been encountering with this map, with that fix, I would call it a 5 out of 10 to barely reach acceptable terms. I recommend this route - just. Some well-known sites like the Cologne Cathedral and Hohenzollern Bridge are represented very well, and there is lots of nice German architecture on display as you go between the two cities. However, there are also some annoying "invisible" speed limits, i.e. speed limits not shown on the HUD or even on the track itself, which will catch you out when you first play the route. For example, just after you leave Cologne (or just before you enter it), the speed limit is supposed to go from 30 to 60, but instead it only goes from 30 to 40. Then when you're approaching the Leverkusen-Mitte station, the speed limit changes from 160 to 120 with no warning when you're about 0.27km away from the station on the Cologne side. Last but not least, on the final approach into Düsseldorf, the speed limit plunges from 80 to 40 with no warning at the final signal before the station. It's very easy to be heavily penalised for speeding with these sudden and unexpected speed limit changes, especially when you're driving an ICE high-speed train. However, after playing the route a few times, you can work out where they are and adjust your driving accordingly. Once you've done that, you can do pretty well in the career scenarios. But the speed limit issue somewhat spoils what is otherwise a very nice little route.
