Despre acest conținut

Portland Terminal is based in the historic and picturesque city of Portland, Maine. From 1911 it was run by the Portland Terminal Company which handled switching duties for the Maine Central and Boston & Maine railroads, until 1981 when all three railroads were acquired by Guilford Transportation Systems. This company still operates in this area today under the name Pan-Am Railways.

The Portland Terminal Expansion Pack, developed by G-Trax, includes elements and locomotives from each of these eras, enabling you to operate the line with Maine Central and Boston & Maine locomotives as in the old days, or with more recent Guilford or Pan-Am liveried locomotives. The route takes you down the main street alongside the harbor in amongst the road traffic and pedestrians, through Union Station and on to Rigby Yard where the old turntable and roundhouse (now demolished in real life) are fully operational, with numerous spurs serving industrial facilities and the port.

Includes:

  • Portland Terminal route including Union Station and Rigby Yard
  • EMD E7 and passenger cars in Boston & Maine livery
  • EMD SD40-2 in Pan-Am Railways livery
  • EMD GP40 in Pan-Am Railways livery

Not really a passenger train layout, just a couple of stations on the map, it's a small route, a little dated, but, with the many recent scenery assets now available you could 'tart' it up a bit, the default trees especially. I enjoyed the street running and down by the harbour. I had to put in my own lighthouses, and a few more boats and yachts, but, it's a fun route with endless possibilities for running small freight trains from the huge yard to the many industrial spurs and sidings, and back again, lots of things to do, it'll keep you busy for hours.

Being a New England railfan living in New Hampshire, I was ecstatic to learn that an official DLC route was available featuring my home roads Pan Am, Guilford and Boston & Maine. The route itself is very good, with good scenery, plenty of options and it is a very accurate representation of Portland, Maine. One of my only qualms with the Portland Terminal route are the lack of DLC that was released along with it, we only got a B&M GE 44-Ton locomotive. There were many possibilities, for example B&M or Maine Central F7s, GP9 or GP7s, even steam locomotives could have been produced. Another minor qualm is the length, there was the possibility of extending the route south on the Boston & Maine to Old Orchard Beach or west on the famous Maine Central Mountain Division, but it was not done, so in this route there is not much room to run mainline trains. It becomes mostly a local, switching route which is fine in its own right. I had hoped that they might release an extension like they had done with some of their English routes, but this route is now 3 years old and nothing has been done with it.

In short: this route is definitely recommended for its historical accuracy, fun, beauty, many included assets and endless entertainment.

The route didn't load right, the GP40 and SD40-2 have that stupid default sounds and wrong horn, the textures and horn for the E7 are slightly bad but not horrible and the boxcars, gondolas, and the graincars have low textures.

Great route. The shortness is the POINT of it, plenty of scenarios for switching and you can make up your own. An excellent feeling of a real small town area and actual working yards and customers.

Highly recommended.

I love this route!
It is currently the ONLY route within 500 miles of where I live, so thats a plus!

Cons:
Kindof a short route.
Engines have DEFAULT SD40 sounds, which they don't sound even REMOTELY CLOSE TO! (I have seen a majority of these engines in real life) The horns in REAL life sound so bad on most of the GP40's (Guilford and Pan Am) that you will want to tear your ears off!
The MEC painted engines are incorrect, in real life, MEC had only GP38's, with a number scheme in the 200's (247, 252, etc...)

I would recommend this game, but only to people who actually know where this is, otherwise, it's kinda pointless...

Clearly a colourful and beautiful line. The rail runs along the streets of Portland, you also have a swing bridge, a turntable and a great yard. The scanerios are varied from passenger service to switching and freight services, the background information and the narration really hooks you into Portland Maine's railway history. The best add on I've ever played.
