Being a New England railfan living in New Hampshire, I was ecstatic to learn that an official DLC route was available featuring my home roads Pan Am, Guilford and Boston & Maine. The route itself is very good, with good scenery, plenty of options and it is a very accurate representation of Portland, Maine. One of my only qualms with the Portland Terminal route are the lack of DLC that was released along with it, we only got a B&M GE 44-Ton locomotive. There were many possibilities, for example B&M or Maine Central F7s, GP9 or GP7s, even steam locomotives could have been produced. Another minor qualm is the length, there was the possibility of extending the route south on the Boston & Maine to Old Orchard Beach or west on the famous Maine Central Mountain Division, but it was not done, so in this route there is not much room to run mainline trains. It becomes mostly a local, switching route which is fine in its own right. I had hoped that they might release an extension like they had done with some of their English routes, but this route is now 3 years old and nothing has been done with it.
In short: this route is definitely recommended for its historical accuracy, fun, beauty, many included assets and endless entertainment.
