What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We try to make a quality game, and user's feedback is the one of best ways to do it. We plan to add new characters, maps and quests and to improve the game in general.
Early Access offers a great way to share the game in development with a lot of people. This way, we get useful feedback from the community which we can use to improve the quality of the game”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately 4 months. The full release is planned for October 2017”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Road map include 3 updates, each of which include 3 new maps, new characters and quests, as well as new gameplay mechanics”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable and has 6 maps (full story campaign will include 15 maps), 2 out of 4 types of enemies, 2 out of 4 animated cutscenes, stealth mechanics (for example, hiding in the closet), a set of different puzzles, a lot of elements of narrative design, collectible items and special conditions for obtaining 3 stars on each map, as well as the most of the core gameplay mechanics”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Price will not change or will rise slightly when we leave Early Access”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We'll invite certain players to test updates before we roll it out to the public. The community has a huge role in the development process. We'll try to gather user's ideas, recommendations and issues. Every feedback and comment, negative or positive, is highly appreciated”

The development is suspended indefinitely

Despite hundreds of hours spent on desperate attempts to improve the situation, today we are forced to announce that the development of Goodbye My King is suspended indefinitely.
From the very first day after the appearance of the game in the Steam catalog, the team fall into long streak of bad luck, and the project was at risk due to a number of problems, the key ones being:
- very weak sales (despite the many popular letsplays and a good reception by the players),
- one of the key team members moved to another team, and
- the threat of a DMCA violation litigation from a well-known indie publisher (the grounds for the accusations made by the publisher are weak, but we simply do not have the resources to participate in litigation).
We developed the game with a very modest budget, and the circumstances described above proved to be stronger than our modest opportunities. We will continue to look for a way out of the current situation and we sincerely thank all those who supported and continue to support us.
In January, the price of the game will be significantly reduced, so if you want to go through 6 available levels yourself or simply support us, we advise you to buy the game on sale or wait until January.
Yours faithfully,
Civil Savages
