What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“For some time i've been waiting for a VR racing game that could deliver the freedom of steering with the HTC Vive controllers. As i'm used to building prototypes, after a dead-end research, I began creating Throttle Powah. I always imagined having the freedom to do freestyle jumps and maneuvers on VR using the physics principle of sports like snowboard, skate and motocross.

So for now, this is a proof of concept, but already really fun. There is no need to wait for the game development to be more advanced before presenting this version to the public.

By recieving feedback and testing, we will be able to improve Throttle Powah focused on what the game really needs.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“8 months to 1 year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

  • Improved graphics
  • More vehicle and trail options
  • More game modes.
  • Improved physics and stunt possibilities.
  • Fully working multiplayer soccer with matchmaking.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

  • Vehicle fully implemented with HTC Vive controllers support.
  • Unlimited maneuvers that can be made and even invented by any player.
  • Online multiplayer with 3 servers (NA, SA and EU).
  • Time track circuits with online leaderboards.
  • A full open world stunt map.
  • Indie Rock Music
  • Soccer Field

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We intend to leave price as is, unless our expences with multiplayer servers get too high”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We intend to use Steam community tools to communicate and collect feedback from current version and future update ideas. Also, we want to promote a healthy community that help each other and observe new player behaviour so we can facilitate engagement.”

Update - Voice Chat and more!

Whatsup everyone, a new update has been launched with new stuff! Voice chat is here!

-Had to work with several performance optimization so I could improve the map without FPS loss, this includes new ways of implementing textures and some models have been changed. The tire model had more triangles than the number of triangles of the entire map put together so it's also new.
-After gaining performance I was able to activate 2 camera shaders that will improve the graphic quality of the game

1- Bloom will make light more pleasant to see.
2- Sharpen will make things less blurry.

-Voice chat!
-Some new stunts were added.
-2 new circuits will be added to multiplayer servers on the next few hours.
-Some stunts and other models has been worked on.
-Started working on an ingame UI but it is still not complete, so you will only be able to see it's new art on monitor.

Coming soon:
-After this update and receiving feedback to check if your FPS is ok, map will be expanded with new tracks.
-Throttle body colliders will be added and rail grind tricks will be tested
-New throttle body options and head options will be made.
-Detecting trick maneuvers and putting some sort of race trick track or overall leader board.
-Ingame UI
-I had a meeting with a guy that will help me with the online ball, but he will only be able to work on the project 1st of July.
-New Circuits.

About This Game

Throttle Powah is a fresh new VR racing, maneuver and freestyle experience.
Each controller is a monowheel motorized rocket. You have freedom to race and perform freestyle jumps and maneuvers in VR using the physics principle of sports like snowboard, skate and motocross.

Open World Map

Throttle Powah is in early stages of development but has a big open world map with lot's of tracks, ramps, soccer arena and crazy circuits.
It will be better, most 3D models and Texture are still placeholder or work in progress.

Multiplayer

Connect to 3 different servers: North America, Europe and South America. Play together, chase, release smoke in their face, race online and score your time on online leaderboards.

Concept

There are almost no VR racing games out there that makes use of the controller to transform the player into the vehicle, so Throttle Powah was born to fulfill it's destiny by presenting what can be done with VR technology.

Platform

Throttle Powah is currently only for HTC Vive.

Hardcore

It's also directed to experienced VR players and can cause motion sickness (especially while using grip buttons to perform freestyle maneuvers).

Bugs and Glitches

  • No prediction on the multiplayer ball (the green one), so you will always see it delayed compared to where it really is.
  • Wheels will sometimes visually flick, it's a known bug, but nothing really serious.

Tips

  • Stand Up, it's time to immerse yourself.
  • Turn your body to where you want to go, try to forget the headset cable.
  • Time your boosts, the moment will come when you'll miss having more, trust me.
