As a ten buck game, it's kinda crappy.

BUT

As a 99 cent game, it aint bad.

The deal is that there isn't much content in the game for it to be worth more than about 3 dollars. But it is fun, just not to play an hour at time (more like 10 mins at a time, just look at my playtime).

So all in all, it's difficult, it's simple, but it's also a fun timekiller.

7/10 (if bought for less that 3 dollars)

4/10 (if bought for the fool* (#punzferdayz) price)

Rage inducing. Hurts my eyes. Audio and art style are awesome, with the exception of the font (I can't read it half the time.)

It's pretty, it's fun, but it's not for me. Something just doesn't click for me with BIT.TRIP.

Really enjoyed the soundtrack, the art style and the gameplay.

My only complaint is the bonus stages at the end of the levels. Sometimes you might want to try the bonus stage over again, but to do this, you have to play the whole stage over again (getting all the gold and powerups of course), so to 100% the game can get a bit tedious.

I'm really not one for "runners" or difficult platformers and this game still has me hooked. Good challenge, awesome soundtrack, and a devlishly utilized aesthetic. I don't see myself growing to love this genre but all the BIT.TRIP games are all quality so it's no wonder I enjoy this. Yet another woefully neglected Humble Bundle game I took way to long to pick up in earnest.

There are some disappointments, though. There's very often forced moments of rote memorization rather than reliance on reflex and skill. The "rhythm" component of this game is a bit of an undertone rather than a core component of the game as well. And worst of all, despite how lightweight it is, it still manages to drop some frames on my laptop gpu (Intel HD 3000) and turning off v-sync isn't quite an option due to how visually distracting it is. I honestly dont know what makes a good game in the genre, but those are some things I've noticed. Still a good play.

I've always said the worst games for me were the ones where I had to jump a lot. This is one of those games but I absolutely love it. A lot of edge-of-your-seat key mashing! The visuals and audio are amazing and play smoothly right along with you.

Music is good but controls are unresponsive and delayed. Hard to do something that requires timing when the controls don't respond right. Also the pixel graphics are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ so good luck on reading any menus.

How I Found The Game
WiiWare. Had the full game but when I transitioned to the Wii U this game broke the data transfer. This game specifically.
The Game
Get it. 3 worlds of platformer. (BIT.TRIP.BEAT is much harder to describe.) Each world has 12 levels, and retro challenges for each one. There are many different buttons to press (but not left or right, you move foward automatically) because you will end up doing 5 things by world 3. Achievments range from easy to "HOW THE ♥♥♥♥ DO I GET THAT?!" Also, cutscenes for some reason.

Great little game. Really enjoy the blend of retro artstyles and music with the modern 3D voxel and progressive music and the game manages to gradient between the old and the new seamlessly. Solid gameplay induced fun, with a hardcore and challenging nature that will leave anyone that finishes it pleased with his results.

Pros:
-fun
-challenging
-even greater rythm and musically designed levels
-great art style
-great blend of retro and modern
-great gameplay
-great music
