It runs perfectly fine on my computer with Windows 8.1. Its a veeeerry challenging game but it would probably be best not to go to walkthroughs unless you really need to because that could take away from the fun of the game. Ive never been much of a PC gamer so its not really nostalgic for me but I do like the simplistic yet addicting feel to it. It is most definitely worth $6.00.

Aside from some pretty game breaking compatability issues on newer operating systems (expect it to crash to desktop at some point every time you play) and some audio crackling. This is my personal favorite version of Myst the prerendered graphics have a charm that is unmatched by either of the "real" Mysts, and the hint system is well integrated so that you never get too lost. Shame it just doesn't work properly.

Awesome part of my childhood. Runs beautifully, even on 8.1. No crashes (yet!).
Beautiful graphics, wonderful soundtrack, and challangeing puzzles make this game worth the money. You won't regret it!

This game does not run on Windows 7. Unfortunately I discovered this first hand AFTER buying it, but if you look around the interwebs you will see lots of other people with the same problems. The game WILL load and play, but after a while it WILL crash. I've tried multiple times and always crash within 1-2 minutes. Oh well, maybe Real Myst will run better.

Having never played Myst but always hearing of it, I was eager to dive into this mysterious game for myself. The atmosphere, puzzles, and sounds are all amazing in this game. Unofrtunately it is old and doesn't run perfectly. That said, I have Windows 7 and ran Myst in compatibility mode on Windows 98 and the only issue was saving and loading took a while and seemed like it was crashing, but after about a minute the game would return to normal. Overall this is one of my new favorite games and I would recommend that everybody try it out.

Just a heads up: If you have a computer that is NOT from the 90's, be prepared to do a bit of Google searching and troubleshooting to get the game to work correctly. You will probably have to run in compatibility mode to get the videos to play, and the wrong settings may cause frequent crashes.

That being said, Myst is a fantastic game. Very well made for its time. The puzzles are the perfect difficulty: fairly challenging, but never so hard to make you give up. (Although if you get stuck, you can click the bottom of the screen for hints.) The world is interesting and the plot is unique. Basically, there is a reason that this game is among the top 10 best selling PC games of all time. Myst is a classic, although you probably already knew that.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME! This game just does not work, plain and simple. realMyst works just fine on my computer, but this won't load a number of things that are needed to play. realMyst is the same price, and actually works.

Waste of money. It won't function on windows 8.1, and there is no way to get your money back after you purchase.

Downloaded for Windows 7, realized I wasted my money since it won't play the videos, and some gameplay is just missing.

Complete WASTE OF MONEY. Heard so much about Myst and wanted to experience it. This game should not be this hard to run!!! Windows 8 / i7 core Geforce gtx 765m Game lags like crazy, would not load animations till set on run as win98, now video runs but game crashes constantly. DON'T WASTE THE MONEY! Buy a newer game.

So nostalgic! I just want to have a house exactly like Myst land and I will put a shelf with dozens of burned books on the entrance. And I will record a message saying "please bring me the 'light purple page'" that will be heard when you enter the house. Gosh, I want this.

There is no guarantee that this game will run on your system. Even spending time adjusting the comparability settings cannot guarantee it will run. Do not buy unless you wish to deal with buyer's remorse.

Unplayable on my Windows 7. I thought I was doing something wrong so I looked up a walkthrough and apparently there's supposed to be animations that tell you what to do. I tried very hard to play through the crashes (I did pay for this, after all) but since there are parts of the game reliant on animation to play, it's not even like I could just look them up on Youtube or something. It ended up being a complete waste of money. I regret not buying the updated version.

Very well done. It's an artifact from the old days and holds up to a lot of indie point-and-click games.

Being a Big Myst fan I was excited to buy this and run it on my Windows 8.1 Laptop. I was dissapointed at first when the game kept crashing, but after running the game through Windows ME/98 campatibility mode It worked just like I remeber it. I definantly recomend this to anyone who loves the Myst franchise
