the single most under-rated racing games ever made. the racing uses a fairly realistic physics system but it is a good blent between sim and arcade racing. add to it the damage models are amazing, the tracks are varied in so many ways...

the game awards you boost (nitro) for hitting things like signs, cones, other cars... so the racing is fast and a little crazy but its all good fun.

then the minigames... like high jump, how high can you launch the driver out of the car...

ALL of this was on the ps2, this is what a true "stupid fun" game should be

oh and on a side note, Next Car Game is made by the same people that made this.

A classic arcade racing game! Whilst the music was not quite my taste, the rest of the game was quite enjoyable. It's an old game, so don't expect any flash graphics. What this does mean, though, is that it will run on pretty much every modern system flawlessly (though I did have the occassional minor audio glitch where the music would disapper for half a second). The game boasts environmental destruction as well as car destruction and ragdoll physics (for when your character flies out of your car!!). The career contains 36 different tracks as well as some bonus material (e.g. Destruction Derby), and the variety of cars and upgrades for those cars is a nice addition too. Overall, the game is worth getting if you're a fan of arcade racing games. You'll have a lot of fun! Enjoy! :D

Very bland racing game with some mini games. The mini games got boring very, very quickly, but the racing was quite fun. Unfortunately it could not keep my attention for too long. Perhaps the sequel is better?

I had some problems rebinding my controller so I was trying a test race. Then my HUD got possessed by the devil and I got too scared to continue playing. 10/10

This game is amazing, It's one of the best racing games I've ever played, and I don't even really play racing games, so that's saying something. For an old game, 11/10

This game falls in the motto "oldie but goodie". It is a surprisingly fun game, that can make you waste hours!

The graphics aren't awesome for today's standard, it can't be compared to some AAA titles like Need For Speed, but yet, they are very good.

Don't think it is an easy game: it isn't. It requires you to acquire some skills and it is nothing like any other racing game. It is more "arcady" than a simulator. The physics of the game aren't exactly scientific, but they are meant to entertain and make you laugh, and it succeds at that, as long as you approach this game with some sense of humour.

There is a car upgrade system in the game, and it's up to you to figure out what upgrades are and aren't relevant. Most of them aren't. It is important to only get the upgrades that will give you an advantage over the AI cars (which are very good, BTW).

All in all, Flatout is still a very fun game. It is possible what other games like GRID 2 tried to achieve but never quite got it.

This game is amazing. Sure, there are flaws, but it is a classic and should be treated understandably. The minigames are awesome, the races are challenging, and the music is pretty nice...until you're on your xth time listening to it straight.

Now, this would not be a good review if I didn't list the flaws, so sadly, I'll list them here:
~The game will glitch sometimes. This will happen at random, and is likely due to when this game originally came out compared to the current software of 2010 (note: This is the rough age of my computer's equipment)
~The music repeats until you go to a different gamemode, so if you restart too many times, you'll be listening to the same thing for hours.

I would highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone! Especially if they need to de-stress.

Though the graphics are fairly dated, this is a wonderful gem of a game. Along with your standard racing, FlatOut goes a further step and gives you semi-fully destructible vehicles as well as often hilarious bonus activities, such as throwing your character at a dart board or bowling with the top of his skull. Aside from an engine that's on fire and is still somehow propelling you, the car physics are very believable and sometimes a pain in the ♥♥♥ (such as when your wheels are all ♥♥♥♥ed up and every time they rotate they make your car bounces).

The choice of music isn't something I care to listen to, but it suits the gameplay well enough.

Oh, your car is also fully customizable, to the frame to the tires to the engine that realistically improve your vehicle (as in, there's no "super tire" that never loses grip, and there's no "super engine" with a million horsepower). In fact, the wee bit of power the upgrades give you are sometimes the only thing that keeps you in 1st place.

This is a very nice game, and if you don't mind looking at low-poly characters, definately give this game a try.
