"Phenomenal, while it doesn't use it's space as well as the original, the Steam Workshop and mods allow for near infinite playtime worth every penny."

About This Game

Portal 2 draws from the award-winning formula of innovative gameplay, story, and music that earned the original Portal over 70 industry accolades and created a cult following.

The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game.

The game’s two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

Product Features
  • Extensive single player: Featuring next generation gameplay and a wildly-engrossing story.
  • Complete two-person co-op: Multiplayer game featuring its own dedicated story, characters, and gameplay.

  • Original music.
  • Massive sequel: The original Portal was named 2007's Game of the Year by over 30 publications worldwide.
  • Editing Tools: Portal 2 editing tools will be included.

This game is brilliant! The puzzles are thrilling and challenging, but still keep within reason. The physics are amazing, which is what you would hope for in a game made by valve! The characters are also something that deserve a bit of spotlight. The writing of the dialog is some of the best I've seen a valve game. Overall, Portal 2 gets a 10/10.

Have you ever played a sequel and asked yourself, "Boy, I hope this game improves on everything I loved about the first one and also adds a bunch of new and exciting stuff!"? If you have, than I got the game for you!

You don't need to play the first Portal to love the second one but I recommend you play both because both are really good.

I sadly was not a part of the waiting session that was going on during the build up to this game's release.

If I'm sad about not being a part of waiting for this game... you'll be thinking that this must be some f**king good game.
And you'd be right. It is.

This is a contributing factor to why we in the PC community just love Valve. With many releases over the years from Counterstrike to Half-Life, this seemed different and rightfully so. When Portal one was released we'd had very little in the way of first-person puzzle games so naturally Portal was an instant success. When Valve announced a second Portal, some were sceptical that it could live up to the height of it's previous incarnation. But much like other things made by Valve, the second version was even better.

Positives for a Valve Fanboy/girl
- Everything here is fantastic work
Negatives for a Valve Fanboy/girl
- Nothing here could be classed as bad. Everything is perfect.

- The dialogue from the characters is some of the funniest I've ever heard.
- The voice acting is absolutely perfect. Ellen Mclain is as menacing or perhaps moreso than she was in the first Portal, Stephen Merchant's Wheatley is possibly my favourite AI in history, and J.K. Simmons as a certain other character is hilarious as well. I think the real highlight of the reel though is Chell's voice actor. On point.
- The testing is more fun than in the previous game with more interesting testing elements such as Gels, Light bridges and those polarity funnel... things. Oh, and you can make your own tests. Not in the fashion say Valve would make them, but in a simplified fashion. Though if you really want to see how it was done by Valve search "Portal 2 Hammer" in your web browser.
- One of the best soundtracks you could listen to, and it's free to download when you buy the game.

- Sometimes, the story and the gameplay kinda crash into each other. Through no fault of it's own, the game becomes inconsistent with its timeline. Sometimes you're given mad rushes as you are sent flying through the air, but then you fall flat on your face. Portal one never had a problem with this and although I'm all up for a change in pace, I'm not confident that some of the times the change of page was appropriate. During that escape sequence with Wheatley, I just wanted to tell him to, you know... "P**s off" so to speak. I just wanted to play the actual game and eat the cake, I didn't want the icing (I mean the story) at that time.
- F**king plotholes everywhere!
- The removal of Energy pellets. Look, I know they weren't fully removed but they weren't there as testing elements. I thank the creators of the *BEE MOD for giving the user more testing elements such as NRG pellets to put back into the game.

I give this game a 9/10.
"Hey, that's pretty good"

If you're new to the PC platform there's no doubt this is one of the best games for you to get. If you're looking to get into the FPS genre but don't want to be thrown in at the deep end instantly this serves as some excellent practice. I may have listed some minor quibbles I have with this game above but the last two shouldn't be paid attention to if you're new.
If you're not new to PC, excuse me for being unsure why this isn't in your Steam library yet.

Thank you for reading this long. Consider rating if this helped you in any way.

Now that I've gotten all the achievements and given up so much of my life to science, it's time to review this outstanding game.

♥ Witty and honestly perfect dialogue
♥ Memorable characters and references
♥ potatoes
♥ Amazing soundtrack
♥ Creative puzzles
♥ Co-Op
♥ Cute mutants
♥ Lemons and a snazzy Cave
♥ $60
♥ You can seriously replay this game over and over again, I'm living proof of it with 150+ hours
♥ Amazing community maps that you can always play if you want more pizzazz

♦ Neurotoxin
♦ Being called fat
♦ The cake is a lie
♦ Does not include friends for co-op (But there's always a companion cube for you lonely people)
♦ You can't eat the potato
♦ Birds

Okay but seriously, this game will forever stay in my heart. Its originality and engrossing storyline is why it's so beloved by others. No matter what kind of gamer you are, and no matter what kind of mood you're in, you will enjoy the gameplay. Just trust me, try this game. You'll be GLaD you did. <3

The cake is a lie...

Wait, wrong game.

If you don't have this game, you won't understand my references if you are my friend, so therefore we cannot be friends.

10/10 would hang with GLaDos again.
Also would cuddle a turret.
And rock out in space with SPOILERS

Portal 2 is even better than Portal
Portal 2 is another game on my "must play" list. Portal was already incredible, yet somehow Valve managed to make the sequel exquisite.

- Fluid, responsive controls
- Amazing puzzles, both for single player and co-op
- Great difficulty curve
- This time there is actually a story. We finally get to learn more about Aperture Science.
- Wheatley joins the party. In combination with GLaDOS, their unique personalities and humour just make Portal 2 incredible. Basically fantastic script and voice-acting.
- This is not just a remake of Portal. This time gels are added to put a unique touch on puzzles. Basically an upgrade in gameplay and difficulty.
- Co-op mode! Like single-player, the co-op mode is brilliantly designed, and addictively fun.
- Community-made maps (basically endless fun and challenges)
- Companion cube still loves you <3

- Still no cake
- You require a competent buddy for co-op

Valve really outdid themselves this time. There really isn't much else to say. The praise I gave in my Portal review is just as valid here, although it must be said that Portal 2 deserves even more praise. You would be a fool not to play Portal and Portal 2.

pros -
- really great soundtrack
- gameplay/puzzles/graphics have held up exceptionally well
- story and lore much more immersive than the previous portal
- funny without delving too deep into "xDDD this is a FUNNY GAME!!! do you get it?!?!" territory
- genuinely heartwarming conclusion
- a "must-have" for any pc gamer

cons -
- that one part (and you know exactly which one i'm talking about if you've ever played the game) gives me mad motion sickness every time
- there really are none

I love this game so much. Like, I could play this game every day for the rest of my life because of how much it offers. I would play Co-op with anyone. I've beat this game 5 times and I've speedrunned it. If I can't stress how much I love this game, I want to state that I really love this game.

Ughh until I do a proper review, WHICH I WILL. I can only say that this is truly a masterpeice, and I have no complain about this game. This is in my opinion the example of a perfect game.

I've gifted this game nearly 10 times now. I've made it my tradition to gift Portal 2 to any friend I introduce to steam to, and let me tell you know, each one of them ends up being an loving portal fan.

Buy this game, no questions. It's meta critic of 96 and the most positively review steam game for a reason!

Portal 2 is far more refined than its predecessor.

Better graphics. Granted the game did came out 4 years after.

Better humor. 81 min into the game I must have chuckled 4-5 times at GlaDOS's remarks.

Better physics. The cube and various objects **feel like** they bear actual weight this time.

Better puzzles. I no longer get disoriented solving them.

I actually care about Chell, that flying bot with blue eye and of course GlaDOS----this didn't happen while I was playing Portal.

While I'd gave Portal a borderline 6 / 10, I'm inclined to rate Porta 2 at least a 8.5 / 10.
