All you get is 4 barely playable characters (one for each type of troops except Sylvan) because they have rather useless abilities.

I got it with a nice discount, but would not buy it again even for that price.

Quite a bad dlc even for this price.

You only get 4 extra characters from it, and two of them (Carlyle and Azh-Rafir) seem really rushed since they have powers that you litterally can't control (although it really looks like you should, since they both are missiles) and the amusing part is that they lack sounds.

In short: you pay for 4 extra hero powers, and two of them are borderline unfinished.
They could have at least tried to find a new character for the Sylvan.. the master druid guy ontop of the big tree for example...

Unless you focus on battle mode, otherwise the DLC seems not worth to pay.

Why not give short story for those bosses?

Honestly, I have to disagree with what the others of said. I took the time out to try and play the boss battle characters and I don't find them "Barely Playable". To be honest, it said in the description you only get these characters for the battle mode, either online or offline, nothing else. If you wanted something else, it's you're own fault for not paying attention.

Would I recommend it? Well, Honestly, Yes. I came from playing this on the DS where I thought using the boss powers would be pretty cool, and honestly, it was. They're pretty much situational like the other powers, but that keeps up the theme of the powers y'know? As for being unable to control two of the powers, if you actuallly use it and pay attention to the damage, you really don't need to; and on that note, can you technically control Aidan's power? Only if you place walls at certain locations, but it's rather lackluster in the "control" department, but no one's complaining about that now are they? Not every power has to be a freaking super arrow FFS. If you're looking for any kind of backstory on the bosses, you'll need to actually play the main story where you learn about them. For what it's worth which is very little, I do recommend the dlc for anyone who wants to battle the npc or online people with said bosses. Especially since it's on a discount of about 1.50$ at the time of this review.

OH, and on a side note, I never noticed the powers not having sounds? So, there's that where people are just harping on it. Carlyle really makes a nasty noise when he launches that bile. Probably not going to play him again....but woo on the Ludmilla spider swarm.
