I remember playing the first Battlefront all the time in Middle School. I'd have friends over and we'd literally play it day and night. It was easily one of the best, if not THE best Star Wars game ever. We believed it couldn't get any better.

Until 2005.

When the trailer for Battlefront 2 came out, everyone who eas anyone would watch it on repeat. We picked apart every detail of the trailers and the excitement grew with every time we watched. We could finally go to Space! We could finally play as Heroes! The wait was enough to drive us insane. We were almost as excited for it as we were to see Revenge of the Sith. When it was released, it completly blew us away. Seemingly everything about the game was perfect. It's a game that will not onlly live on in our hearts for nostalgia, but will continue to be one of the greatest games ever made.

However, it has it's flaws. Despite being one of my favorite games of all time, it takes steps up and down from the previous Battlefront, which I now consider to be an overall better game. Here's why:
PROS
+Space Battles!
+Heroes!
+More Maps!
+More Classes!
+Cool Campaign!
+Cool Galactic Conquest!
CONS
-The Space maps are the only ones to include air vehicles, as opposed to the previous game where you could jump into aerial vehicles and dogfight.

-The Space maps, while fun at first, are essentially empty and unimaginative, and become rediculously stale after the 'I'M IN SPACE JESUS CHRIST WOW" mentality wears off. I remember fondly in Galactic Conquest sighing in boredome evry time there was a space battle. The process remains the same: get in a ship, destroy the frigate, fly onto the enemy ship, destroy their ♥♥♥♥ from the inside, and whoop-de-doo, three hours of your life are gone. Maybe they could have added a few more activities or modes in space or even had more rooms on the space ships.

-The Heroes, while amazingly fun to play as, are rediculously overpowered. Most of the jedi heroes are simply reskinned versions of eachother with a slight difference. Their Lightsabers are practically one hit kills, they have an insanely high jump, and can sprint faster than you can have time to see them. The lightsaber moves are usually the same three slash animations over and over, and blocking barely does anything against other lightsabers. It would have been interesting to see a bit more swordplay mechanics come into play, where you have to block the enemy's strikes at the correct time or something. The heroes could have been more interesting if their abilities/controls were a bit more similar to Jedi Outcast, but with destinct abilities that set them apart.

-The maps in Battlefront 2 suffer from being very close quarters and confusing to navigate at times, and are generally smaller and less memorable than the previous intallment's. I remember Battlfront 1 had literal all-out brawls going across the maps, this one mostly consists of running around in hopes of finding an enemy to shoot. Compare a map like Battlefront 1's 'Dune Sea' to Battlefront 2's 'Death Star'. On Dune Sea, you could go to the Sarlaac and shove enemies in, jump in a skiff and drive past the Tusken camp trying not to get killed by Sand People, snipe rebels in the Sandcrawler, and then hop into a tie fighter next to the Homestead and dogfight weaving in and out of the stone pillars. On Death Star, you can look at the Laser go off, walk through some empty hallways to a hangar and shoot 3 rebels, and then fall in a pit by accident. Invigorating! Not a real big complaint, but should adressed none the less.

-The classes in Battlefront 1 were balanced so they each had roles to complete as a team, which each had a special distinct look, ability, and weapon. In Battlefront 2, they tried to do the same thing, but made it a little confusing. You had to unlock the 'Special' class, which was more often than not just a noobtube class. The PM's for alot of the classes on the Republic team were just shoehorned tie-ins for Episode 3 that ended up getting a few seconds of screentime. (I still can't tell most of the clone classes in Battlefront 2 apart.)

-The Campaign was really fun, I was really interested in the story, especially on Hoth. I felt like I was on a roll, and loved shooting rebel scum. When I finished the mission, I was suprised to know that was it was over almost prematurley, especially with the large selection of maps they had. Not a big complaint, just feel like hey could have added more.

-Fewer max players than the last.

Other than that, it's a must-play. Hope I could help.

The only true Star Wars Battlefront game, nothing beats this one! GET IT and never look back!

Relive all your childhood memories and Star Wars fantasies and take part in epic battles!

Comes with SPACE BATTLES and a waaaaay better Hero/Villain system, with so many maps and areas and game modes your head will explode. Puts DICE and E.A to shame!

MUCH, much better than the new remake! Graphics may not be as good, but it has everything the the remake does not! Space battles, campaign, more heroes, it is cheaper, and a LOT more!

im sad to say i disliked the game. pros: gameplay with 4 factions cis clones rebels empire leads for crazy battles over 16 i think planets. puts the new battlefront to shame though that was easy. cons: bugs multiplayer now they have shut down the multplayer sad really i never got to play it .bugs: bugs are one of the things i hate about the game i was going to refunds because it was that bad with audio that will kill your ears and random deaths its sad how buggy it can be anyway if they dont add multiplayer bug fix dont get it

Okay so Battlefront 2 is one of the greatest games of all time. Not because of PS2 nostalgia but it's simply a perfect game. You want a story? There's a story. Wanna shoot the ♥♥♥♥ out of some Rebel scum? Load up Hoth on XL and have a great time. Seriously. It's impeccable and still holds up today. While I am in the minority who actually really likes the 2015 Battlefront, that's nothing compared to this masterpiece. Plus there's like a total of sixteen heroes from the originals and the prequels. If you're a Star Wars fan, it's a must. If you're a gamer, it's a must. If you're a normal person, it's a must.

Buy this game. Go on. Do it.

It really says something when a Battlefront game made in 2005 is better then a Battlefront game made in 2015.

Even though it is a old game, it still remains as one of the best games. I've played this game on my PlayStation 2 for hundreds of hours, and I enjoyed every second of it. If you don't get this game, you'll regret it.

If you are wanting to play multiplayer but can't, what you have to do is download GameRanger, and it will allow you to join/host games, including Star Wars Battlefront 2. Like this review so more people see this review, so more people can play multiplayer!

This game is way better than EA's new Star Wars Battlefront in every way except graphics, and I'm not just saying that because of nostalgia, it is backed up by actual facts, and here they are:

Star Wars Battlefront 2 | Star Wars Battlefront (EA)
Campaign? Yes | No
Space Battles? Yes | No
Galactic Conquest? Yes | No
Instant Action? Yes | No
Moddable? Yes | No
Vehicles? 37 | 11
Maps? 33 on 16 planets | 8 on 4 planets
Infrantry Types? 51 | Customizable Loadouts
# of Players? 64 on all modes | Up to 40 on certain modes
Playable Eras? Original and Prequels | Original
Price? (Canadian) $10.99 | 80 + $70 Season Pass

So If you're thinking of buying Star Wars Battlefront, save some money and buy this instead, because its way better in every way (except graphics) for way less money.

An absolutely flawless game, every moment is enjoyable. I played the game a while back when I didn't have steam and put in 1000+ hours (Recorded on XFire which is down now) pretty much creating my childhood. Sadly the multiplayer is down but the singleplayer campgain is fantastic. The game has a huge selection of mods online that you can download and play. Since the game has been cut in half content wise the game is not as valueable but definitly worth a buy. It is unfortunate that this series will die with no second chance as the company went bankrupt (Even though they sold the best Star Wars Games). While this game dies we recieved the very disappointing Star Wars Battlefront EA which was a complete waste of my money. I would rather buy Battlefront 2 again for $60.
