Why Early Access?

“Our new title Kartong - Death by Cardboard! is almost ready (yay!) and we now want to open up for your feedback and genius suggestions before full release! Why are we doing an Early Access release? Well, we want to improve the final details of the game together with you while we, at the same time, streamline the game progression, controls and options for various platforms. But the game is of course already playable from start to finish, including checkpoints!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already includes several difficulty levels with randomized maps and tiny, tiny weapons. We will be adding new content along the way to full release, as we fine tune the game based on your input. For the full release, we also plan to introduce more thematic events and content for the world of Kartong, including odd gadgets, challenge maps, weird collectibles etc. Once fully released, the game will also be made available on more platforms and support more polished options and controls.

December news update

Hello there, hope you´re enjoying the difficulty slider and treasure map from last week! We are currently working on the AI system to support a new enemy. It is not the one that we revealed earlier, so it will be a bit of a surprise. As you may have seen in the forum we are looking for more feedback in the following areas. We hope you have some time to share your thoughts with us this week, so the upcoming patches can be as good as possible.

Submit Feedback on level generation and map features:

We have also seen some spread out suggestions for locomotion changes, including:
- Click-once walking instead of constantly having to press the Vive Touchpad.
- Adding On/off options for the wrist turning feature when you are teleporting.

Patch notes - Kartong Update 0.2.9

Hello there!

Hope you haven’t experienced too many paper cuts since we last talked <3
Today we’re releasing an exciting new patch. As we already shared in our latest news update - it includes a miniature map! Go collect them Gold Chests! Keep the feedback coming, and like mentioned earlier we’re also working on some new map types and city blocks, but that’s for a later release :)

- Added a mini-map to Gold Chest loot table. Find one to get a better overview of the level!
- Added 6 new city blocks that increase the map variety for returning players
- Added a difficulty slider in the seed menu. Go back and play earlier difficulty levels to get more loot for the more difficult levels, or just let your friends try the game from the beginning!

- Fun Snaps can now burn down burnable walls that hide paths or treasures
- X-ray glasses and Sneak Power beans can now be activated near your face
- Changed pivots for some items, allowing the hands to hold them more naturally
- When going back to Tutorial, your inventory will now be temporarily emptied.
- Chest loot table random generation was offset by one level, this is now fixed.
- Switched dynamic shadows default setting from Off to On.
- Save file fixes

Many more chunks will be added in future patches, but we wanted to give you at least something new for now <3

About This Game

In a twisted world best described as ”a miniature cardboard city turned into a malicious science experiment”, you get to be the involuntary test subject. Your situation can be summed up in one word: shitty.

You find yourself captured against your will in the deadly city of Kartong, with your whole life depending on a mediocre weapon made from office supplies. And oh, did we mention that you’re shrunk to the size of a toilet paper roll? Yes, you’re small... very small.

Kartong - Death by Cardboard! combines the cuteness of scary toys with the charm of paper cuts - all wrapped up in challenging miniature/stealth/FPS gameplay (that’s a legit genre, right?).

Each game, a new map

The city of Kartong will change every time you play. This basically makes it impossible to escape. Mohaha... GOOD LUCK!

Movement? Player's choice!

The game will support two locomotion options: teleport and stick movement.

Life never gets easier

So, you accidentally found your way out of the city? Well, it ain't over pal. Kartong’s many difficulty levels will push you to the limit of your own madness.

Beat your friends!

We have a local highscore system for each difficulty as well, with seeds to control the map. So now you can challenge friends for the best scores, get the sweetest upgrades and show off your rarest collectibles.

A game jam gone horribly wrong

After launching our previous title SVRVIVE: The Deus Helix, our dev team held a "lets-go-bonkers" game jam to blow off some steam. Obviously troubled by some very disturbing thoughts (disclaimer: we blame office air pollution), our team came up with Kartong. And once conceived, we had no choice but to bring yet another unpronounceable game to the world. Enjoy!
