I feel like I have enough hours to make a review now.
And trust me, this game is something you'd really want if you're a Star Wars fan, there's just a problem.
If you're buying this game for the Singleplayer, go for it, it's really nice and entertaining and it puts you really in the spot of a Jedi or you can also play only with guns. If you're buying this for MP though, I'd suggest to pass on it.

This game is full of elitist f*cks, which will troll the f*ck off of you if you are new, so you either learn everything alone or you get f*cked. Plus don't expect to be threated well, people are going to sh*ttalk you all the time, even worse than russians on CS:GO. I was truly expecting a really nice experience playing MP/MBII, too bad the fan base is filled with elitist that have been playing the game since 1999 and decide that everyone else has to be sh*t talked and f*cked in the ♥♥♥.

So yeah, if you're looking to buy this game for SP go for it.
If you're going to buy it for MP, go for SW:TOR MMORG. It's not like this, but at least there you won't get harassed.
Seriousely though, the MP is a joke.

You can make your own lightsaber and then slice stormtroopers to bits with it. Campaign is amazing and multiplayer is too but the servers for it are unfortunately dead.

Star wars - Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy * 8/10

The final chapter for the Jedi Knight Saga.

Kyle Katarn is at last a Jedi Master at the Jedi Academy, thus we will impersonate his new apprentice Jaden, followed by his "punk" friend Rosh. Troubles will start at the very beginning when a bunch of sith will infiltrate the Academy to provide diversion while others drain Some force residuals from the temple and steal Skywalkers log records. A new Sith cult is rising and troubles spread over the galaxy so now it's time for the new Students to go around and solve them.

With this new setting we are bound to customize our character's gender, race and appearance. Our lightsaber's hilt and color can be customized as well.
The game genere is still a third person action while wielding lightsabers, and FPS when using firearms, but this time we have Lightsaber and force powers since the very beginning, and (after an intro and a training section) we're not playing through an ordered number of levels but we're given a set of 5 levels and we can choose which mission to accept. We're not bounded to accept all of them, as 4 will be enough, but considering for each mission we can improve one light or dark force power at choice it could be wise to complete all of them. After that we will proceed with with story related cutscenes and levels and after that we will be given another set of 5 missions again, rinse and repeat.

Even though the story is nicely represented with some more coreographic cutscenes and situations it doesn't really impress and involve the way it happened with Dark Forces II or Jedi Knight 2. A good point is the choice for dark or light path, so once again we can choose which side of the force to join with one particular decision towards the end. As usual the most interesting ending is the dark side, but I'm not here to spoil anymore than this.

The engine is once again the same from Jedi Knight 2, but this time the idTech has been polished and improved further with effects, shaders, reflections and saber burn marks on enemies as well. Level design didn't give me the impression of being constant, as I've witnessed marvelous and amazing sections well designed with lot of care and attention for details and decorations, while other areas or levels are more flat or... standard.

Gameplay is the real core of this chapter as it has really been improved under many aspects. We have new set of moves such as rolling out or jump when grounded, bounce out when pushed or jumping onto walls, special attacks specific for saber combat styles and in the latest sections of the game we can wield the saber staff or two lightsabers. A particular note goes to one particular section, a mission where you must run all the way with a speeder bike. Even though it's a simplistic section I simply loved it and I'm sure EA had that secton in mind while working on Battlefront.

The soundtrack is amazing as always. As in Jedi Knight 2 it uses the Classic tunes from John Williams with dynamic tracks, so fast paced tunes will be played while you're in action, while slow movements will be played while exploring and everything wil be smoothly linked with apropriate musical passages. A bunch of new tracks have been added for specific sections.

Unfortunately the impression of this title is that of an expansion more than a new chapter. Of course there are lots of gameplay innovations, a whole new story, but still the story doesn't have the impact nor the importance of the previous chapters, the characters don't give great impressions, specially Jaden, the story is quite predictable and the level design even though it has many sections full of details and inspiration has other sections more standard making the game look... Rushed.

+++PROs+++
  • GAMEPLAY. As in Jedi Knight 2 the combat system is very smooth but now it's improved with new moves, actions, stunts and the chance to use two lightsabers and the saber staff. New force powers are available in the game campaign (though they have already been used in the Multiplayer section of Jedi Knight 2). There are also sections with speeder bikes and Tauntauns to ride.
  • SOUNDTRACK. Once again the game features the amazing scores from John William with the dynamic music system that perfectly fits and follows your actions. A fistful of new tracks have been added.
  • FAN SERVICE. In this chapter there's Mark Hamill Voicing again Luke Skywalker, but there are more elements that might please fans: The Rancor, The Ice Wampa Creature with Tauntauns, Flying imperial troopers and Heavy troopers that really remind a lot of the Phase 2 and 3 troopers from the very first Dark Forces, and always from there... Boba Fett himself.
  • VISUAL IMPACT. The game is getting old but it still looks pretty good thanks to a very good level design, familiar places, attention to details and inspired sections...
---CONs---
  • LEVEL DESIGN. ...Unfortunately that kind of inspiration is not constant as there are sections and levels that look more flat, or less inspired.
  • STORY. This chapter's story is quite simple and linear resulting in a predictable plot and situations. Even though it is well represented by good and coreographic cutscenes it doesn't involve as the previous chapters did, maybe also because the main character, Jaden doesn't have the same charisma as Kyle Katarn.
  • AI. As in JK2 You will face enemies that won't recognize you or the mess and killing you made 10 mts away, or enemies that will run back and forth not knowing what to do, or falling down in pits. This is an aspect of the game that IF it had been improved, it wasn't improved that much.
  • 4:3. Unfortunately, due to the age, the game doesn't support 16:9 resolutions natively. Luckily you can just edit the cfg to force your own resolution. Everything is explained in details in the steam community.
  • CLUNKY ANIMATIONS. There are some clunky or too basic animations in the game such as "non-breathing" idle positions or slow running and walking animations that makes the characters look like they're gliding on the ground.

Probably the best online gaming experience I ever had. I remember even training with a friend to get better at it. In our server we would call them our masters and you would have to show respect.
The mechanics are incredible, there are infinite combinations and techniques to outmatch your opponent. Single player doesn't really matter. It's all about the multiplayer and committing yourself to get better and better at being a jedi. It's like a rpg but you don't get upgrades or increase level, you evolve and learn by yourself, an "academy" in it's truest sense.
Simply amazing even to this day, it's old I know, but the fact that many servers still manage to survive justifies my review. I will not delve into details but I have to say that the main menu song and the tatooine map one will forever be engraved in my heart.
If a new jedi academy game emerged, I would make it my job and go to pro leagues or wtv.

It's fun, and works on windows 10 at least for me. I played it all the way through on my windows 7 pc though. Combat feels nice but the story is hilariously cheesy. The graphics have aged pretty well for a 2003 game.

Very fun game if you are bored. I like how you get to customize yourf jedi and you can make him/her goofy or look really cool. Combat isn't too bad either so I recommend.
