This is a freaking fantastic game.
For those who are unaware, the Jedi Knight series consists of the Dark Forces games, Jedi Outcast, and this one, Jedi Academy. (Dark Forces II gave birth to the Jedi Knight name.) Before this game, Jedi Outcast was released in 2002 to critical acclaim. A year later, this released.
Both games ran on the same engine: The Quake III engine, one of my favorite video game engines ever. The gameplay's similar to Jedi Outcast, with a few exceptions:
1. You were now given the option to use dual sabers or (better yet) the double-sided saber.
2. That cheat where you could destroy people's limbs in Jedi Outcast? Gone, sadly. There's mods to fix this, but it isn't the same.
3. MULTIPLAYER'S EVEN BETTER THAN BEFORE-
Oh, getting ahead of myself. Yeah, I play this for the multiplayer. I play Outcast for singleplayer. I play THIS for multiplayer. The multiplayer's fantastic; To improve the experience, get JediAcademy+, which expands customization options and allows more servers to become available. The lightsaber combat's so fun, especially with human players. I usually have some sort of cinematic flair with my attacks. Skill? What's that?
Anyway, I've rambled enough. Get this game, it's fantastic. Heck, get the entire series for 20 bucks. The entire series is fantastic, and I highly recommend it, as Kyle Katarn's one of the most interesting characters in Star Wars lore.
