What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Range Day VR is a perfect fit for early access. This game will be updated regularly with new guns, ranges, and mini games as we develop based on feedback from our players. There a few really good gun simulators for VR but we wanted to make our own our way and introduce multiplayer so your friends can also join in the shooting fun. Early access gives us a great opportunity to let our players enjoy some of the fun early while helping us flesh out good and bad ideas with the game design or find bugs that need to be resolved before full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“At least 6 months. We really are not sure. Allot of this will be based on feedback from our players and what they would like to see in the game or things we need to tweak.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For those players who are willing to help us refine the game and offer input will be able to enjoy the game at a cheaper price then when its released to full version. More importantly those who buy and participate in early access will have a direct voice into the development of what we hope is another favorite shooting range game in their library.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game will launch with several indoor and outdoor ranges. 40+ firearms to make things go boom with. Online multiplayer will be coming in a very near future patch update. Oculus and Steam players will play in separate online communities to begin with but we want to move to cross-platform multiplayer support.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. that is the plan. We think early access players should be rewarded with helping us polish and flesh out the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“forums, email feedback, and any other method that gets us more player input!”

Patch 06 work has begun.

Hello everyone. We just started work on Patch 06. More bug and gun fixes off course coming but we are also looking at adding custom paper targets. Our thinking at present is to add 10 customizable paper target’s that will use your images as long as they meet specific requirements for the system. Along with the Barrett and Kimber new rifles coming soon we will be introducing the new CZ Bren 2 machine gun. We will post more as the patch develops. Thank you all for your patronage and support. It’s truly appreciated.

Patch 05 Released. Please READ

Patch (5) Version 1.16.88

Changes

- Updated Armory menu system.

- Adjustments and particle updates to muzzle flash system. More still to come.

- Increased speed of slide and bolt animations on guns when firing.

- Ammo trays added to armory. These are experimental and subject to change. To pick up an ammo tray press and hold down either the grip ore trigger button prior to moving your hand next to the tray base it should snap to your hand. If you turn the trays upside down all the bullets will fall loose. With the trays already laying on the table you can pick up bullets individually from the tray or place the magazine next to the ammo tray to suck in bullets.

- Long chargeback handle pull fixed on galil and scar rifles.

- Beta holster belt. You can turn this on in the options menu from the armory menu. Comes with 4 magazine, 2 hand guns, and one rifle holder on your back. It may be necessary to take a step back once you load a new range to be in the center of the holster belt. It should then teleport with you whenever you relocate. Expect more variations and refinement to this in future patches.

- New bolt rifle system update. You will now need to manually pull the bolt up and then back to eject a cartridge and slide it forward to advance the next round from the magazine.

About This Game

Too lazy to go to the range? Is your gun in the repair shop? Never fear Range Day VR is here. If you like playing with realistic guns in an open VR sandbox, then this might be the game for you. Range Day VR is designed to give players a taste of what an actual gun range is like while letting players explore iconic realistic firearms without danger of shooting the family cat. Compete against other players in challenging timed events. Or simply enjoy blowing things up with your favorite .50 cal machine gun.

Range Day VR features several authentic firearm models as we have obtained permission from the manufactures for use in game. We also have plenty of other fantasy and facsimile modern firearms to expand your sandbox destruction as well.

More than one is always more fun. While Range Day VR will initially launch as a single player game to begin with it has always been our intention from the beginning of the games design to implement cross platform multiplayer experiences. Please note while in early access we will be updating the game to implement cross platform game-play between HTC Vive and Oculus players.

This game will be constantly evolving, adding new guns, ranges, and new features frequently that may cause technical issues or bugs, especially while we implement cross platform multiplayer support. With all that said we hope you enjoy our small slice of VR fun and come along for the ride. We also encourage our players to check out other competing VR gun simulators as they are also quite good and we think there is room for more than one for players to enjoy!

Game Features:

  • Roomscale VR Experience designed for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
  • Multiple indoor and outdoor ranges in various day and night settings.
  • Timed challenges with player leader boards.
  • More than 40 weapons to shoot. More added frequently.
  • Planned multiplayer gaming challenges in future updates.
