Blood Bowl is possibly one of the greatest tabletop games every created. BloodBowl Cyanide is... a decent enough translation of that game to the computer, with the rules all translated pretty well barring the occasional glitch. At the current steam sale price of $7, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to try it.

Just be prepared to throw yourself into MP, as the AI is garbage. MP is alive enough anyway, with peak hours having anywhere from 200-350 players online, and at dead of night (when both USA and EU are asleep/working) there's still 30-50 online, so you can always find a match.

Also, do yourself a favor and search for and download the "Community Content Pack". It's 100% compatible with MP, and just adds a bunch of graphical niceness, such as extra skins for players so you can make sure your linemen all look different. Just make sure to go and delete the 256 color submod (Data/Manager/Colors folder) or else the team colors will get screwed up in matches between people who do and don't have it.

Lastly, before you play, go to http://bbtactics.com/ and read the starting rosters sections, these will give you the most effective starting rosters for all the races for a new player.

I really wanted to like this game because i think it's a cool concept but it's really not worth it.

Short version, it's outdated and dice based meaning that even if you play perfectly you will lose due to crap rolls of the dice and there is nothing you can do about it.

Long version, every time you go to block you have an equal chance of hurting yourself as you do of hurting the enemy (who thought that was a good idea!). This becomes stupidly apparent as your trying to pound your way through eneny elf lines (elves are not strong) and yet you still injure your 7 strength deathroller when he tried to tackle a runner for the elves. Now the dice roll stupidity is a thorn in the side but seeing as how it's based on a board game i was willing to look past it. What really killed this game for me is that when you go to start any campaign or tourny you will have a fresh new team and the enemy team will have (not kidding) 5 or 6 level two players and sometimes a level 3, because winning with these ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dice rolls wasn't hard enough. If you like a game where strategy is key and you want to dominate your opponent into the ground, this is not your game. If you like a game that will be unfair and will force you to lose multiple times before you can build up your team, then go ahead and give this game a try.

The game is so close within a few rules options of bloodbowl that I almost call it perfect. The game play is easy. The only thing I might manage better is the options for creating a league. Ask anyone who own BB and no one knows the difference between a cup and a championship, how it translates to the BB league play, etc. There should be a straight up tutorial on how to set up a league and what each of the league options actually means. While some call the dice rolling og 16.66 percent over time a sign of fair play, I see it as a weakness of the game. Real life dice DO NOT roll each side and equal amount of time. Because of this, you can predict pretty much when to shut the game off and keep playing until the dice become more favorable. Basically the close you get to so many dice, the closer the game "catches" you up on terrible dice to offset the earlier good ones and it all comes in clumps. Due to the faulty RGI, it doesnt feel like BB, at least the TT version. The dice are a huge factor as to why I DO NOT recommend this game and I pray this fix this in later releases. Give me truly random dice please.

Sorry, I could not reccomend this to anyone.
The concept is cool, I mean who would want to play nerdy football with ultra violence? But this, is just plain boring. it takes a fast paced sport game and turns it into a slow paced boring crawl that I couldn't stand. Also its not ultra violent, its football with pools of blood. So if a slow paced, bad in the graphics department, and terrible interfaced game is your thing, go for this, otherwise, stay away.

Dice based game is not fun. It degenerates into you failing dice rolls constantly. It is slow boring and does an awful job of actually telling you how to play. To put it simply it sucks.

"WELCOME, SPORTS FANS! ARE YOU READY FOR ANOTHER SKULL-SPLITTING, BONE-CRUSHING GOOD TIME?"

Ah, what fun it is to play the good ol' Blood Bowl! I used to play the tabletop version and fell in love. This version has all the charm (and frustration) of American football gone medieval, the best strategies lain waste to bad dice rolls, and multiple races with all the expected strengths and weakness common with Warhammer fantasy. The upgraded commentary from our two favorite Blood Bowl aficionados, Jim (Vampire) and Bob (Ogre), keep a smile on your face with every result... even the ones that go against you. The rulebook is also included from the tabletop version to define everything you need to know about the game.

I prefer playing the turn-based "Blitz" mode, which allows for some customization of your teams, players, and adds additional flavor of spells, crowds and riot-causing fans, as well as player equipment (upgraded helmets, pads, etc which add to your abilities), bribing the ref, and many more. I love to win and hate to lose because this game make you sweat for every inch of the Pitch (playing field)!

For the first time player, tutorials are included. The game is easy to learn but does have some complexion in the variety of rules to be tracked. I recommend to put it on easy mode and play a couple games to get the hang of it after you do the tutorials.

Multiplayer mode is also available and I use it! My friends who play with me love to rant and rave about the worst roll or that last second catch at the end of the match that scored the game-winning touchdown!

WARNING! This game will test your frustration limits! I mean, COME ON!, how does a strength 2 halfling charge a strength 6 minotaur and KO him!?? WTH, man!? LOL!

Again, I loved it back in the 80's when I originally played it tabletop, and this brings back all the fun! It did so well that it received a go at "Blood Bowl 2"!

It's a pretty cheesy game based on a board game about combining football and traditional dungeons and dragons.
It's pretty neat, BUT

Do not bother with this game unless you meet these three criteria:

1. Enjoy chess
2. Don't mind that at any moment the game can throw a big fat middle finger into any strategy plan you had at complete random
3. Have friends that also have this and want to play multiplayer.

Got this for $5 when it was on sale last week. What a steal! This game is easily worth the full price. You don't even have to like football or warhammer to enjoy watching a lizardmen punch a vampire in the face!

Get Chaos Edition over this, but this is still a solid adaptation of a solid board game. the luck element can be infuriating, but it's a fun game nonetheless, especially with friends.

Definitely a different take on Football. I have always admired Games Workshop for their awesome tabletop selection, however the original Warhammer and Warhammer 40k figures were a bit out of my price range. Overall this is a really fun and challenging game, with plenty of humorous commentary to go along with the over-the-top concept of Turn-based Football Warfare. Highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys Turnl-based strategy and table top war games.

At first I thought about buying it because it seemed like a football game. It is not. It is a board game.
That being said, it is an amazing board game with tons of strategy to be used by each individual race. Yes, each race has positives and negatives, but if you play your cards (rolls) right, you can beat any team with any other team. If I were to compare its strategy to any sport I would say soccer with a small mix of football. Marking players and utilizing tackle zones is your best bet.
All in all, I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys strategy, violence, or Warhammer. All 3? Absolutely get this game.

its ok i suppose.... could be better with tackling explaned properly, nice engine but the way the camera jumps about between sides is anoying. mouse control lacking that precise touch with it being difficult to select your targets movement zones.
also there is an issue with reserve players and the inabilty to edit you team :ie as in who is playing and where ( the formations can only be done within game ) and i have still set to find out how to adjust my roster. all in all i am however hooked on this game and its very niche game style, dam frustrating and time consuming and hard to understand and play but thats why i like it...
not the run off the mill game, you get, you play, you win, you finish and you put down and never play again.... ohhh no
likely you will struggle to win..... and you will come back for more
