Update 1.2 is now live

Dry Erase 1.2 is now live on Steam!

Update highlights
Better image import menu with support for folders and pagination for large folders/PDFs. Additionally, filenames are now shown in addition to the preview images.

Significantly improved startup time: quickly get in and out of the app thanks to the removal of the Unity splash screen.

Hot-swapping tools between hands: if you enable this option in the settings, you can temporarily swap tools between your hands by holding the grip button on your non-dominant hand. For example: if you equip the eraser on your left hand and hold a marker in your right hand, you can use this to quickly switch to the eraser.

Other improvements/fixes
  • Fixes issue with SVG export where images would render on top of lines
  • Fixes issue with scrolling in the recent documents menu
  • Fixes shape of the preview cursor
  • Fixes number of preview cursors when multiple markers are equipped
  • Fixes issue with error handling when loading an image fails

Update 1.1 is now live

Dry Erase 1.1 is now live on Steam. Grab it while it's still hot!

Update highlights
You can now move and rotate the whiteboard. There's a handle in the settings menu: grab it with one hand to move the whiteboard, or grab it with two hands to also rotate it. (A "comfort grid" is visible while moving the board to avoid dizziness.)

Markers are now saved between sessions. From now on, when you start the app you should have the same markers in your tool drawer as you did during your last session.

You can now change the opacity of the grid. Look for the "Grid Opacity" slider in the settings menu.

Other improvements/fixes
  • Actions on images (import, move, delete) can now be undone and redone
  • Fixed an issue with the default whiteboard orientation for some play area configurations.
  • In-app supersampling is now disabled by default for new users if system-wide SteamVR supersampling is detected. This caused very poor performance for users that already used a high SteamVR supersampling value. You can still tweak this option manually with the "Render Quality" slider in the settings menu.
  • Added button hints to the file import menu
  • Fixed upside down preview images in document menu
  • Added improved error reporting
  • Backup files are now hidden by default (but they're still there if you need them)

What's still coming
A lot :) I've been talking about an improved file import menu with support for folders. This should address the issues many of you have been having with large folders and documents. It's nearly finished, but it needs another couple of days of testing before it's ready. You can expect the new file import menu as part of update 1.2, which should land in the coming weeks.

I've received an overwhelming number of suggestions for new features, and I'm happy to say I've already started work on a number of those. I'm planning a big feature update near the end of August (just in time for the new school year!) and another one in September.

About This Game

Dry Erase is an infinite whiteboard in virtual reality.

  • Never run out of writing space: simply grab the surface, scroll over to a blank area, and continue writing! You'll never reach an edge, because there aren't any.
  • Choose from 750+ marker color and thickness combinations.
  • Nothing is permanent: either use the built-in eraser to clear an area on the board or use undo and redo to erase recent strokes.
  • Markers provide haptic feedback while drawing and feature adjustable marker smoothing to help you write legibly.
  • Import images (JPG/PNG/TIFF/GIF/BMP/ICO) and arrange them on the whiteboard. Use them to create moodboards, do homework assignments, prepare presentations, or even to do code reviews.
  • The perfect study space: import PDF course material, grab a virtual marker, and shut yourself off from all outside distractions. You can even record your homework sessions to share them with your classmates and the world using the interactive desktop view and recording software of your choice.
  • Export your drawings as SVG images and view them in the browser when you're not in VR, import them into your office suite, or share them with your team. Also useful for recording your own signature for embedding in documents or emails.
